We have a guest writer this week who is a fan of Pro Wrestling EVO. I know him as The1andonlyJer. He is Jeremy Polk out of Belmont, NC and he has done a review of Pro Wrestling EVO #FollowThis event which was a spectacular event. Fans you need to be following this promotion out of NC. They have some tremendous talent including EVO Champion Marcellus King, ROH tag team talent Cedric Alexander, former FIP Hertiage Champion Jake 'The Manscout' Manning, Caleb Konley, Zack Salvation, Kirby Mack.. the list goes on and on for the talent they have on hand. I have reviewed one of their previous DVDs (This is Wrestling DVD Review) on here and I will be doing more very soon. Anyway let's get on to the review & I hope to have Jeremy on here more often with EVO coverage.

Coming off the heels of a supercharged event, Best Show In Town in September Pro Wrestling Evo returned to Cabarrus Arena with #Follow This and Follow the previous show they did! The Show started with a Live Fireside Chat with Zack Salvation and the crowd immediately sprang to their feet as “Shipping up To Boston” by the Dropkick Murphys played throughout the arena, the fans knew SALVATION WAS HERE! Unfortunately his opponent ROH Star Kyle O' Reilly was not, nor was his traniner & mentor Tony Kozina. This left two people without opponents for tonight, Salvation being one of them quickly addressed this & wasted no time in telling us he was screwed out of the EVO Heavyweight title last month & he wanted to do battle with King & Cedric Alexander later on tonight to see who the better man was, rather than an answer from Pro Wrestling Evo Salvation received a proposition of his own. “The Manscout” Jake Manning joined Salvation and let the crowd know he was trying to turn over a new leaf, and follow the scout oath more closely he then asked Salvation to take the Manscout Merit Challenge where if Manning is defeated he will leave Pro Wrestling Evo. Salvation, hesitant looked to the crowd and you could see he still had World title visions in his head, Manning assured Zack it would be a straight up contest and the best man would win….SCOUTS HONOR! Again looking to the crowd, Salvation reviewed what Manning had to say and simply replied “Challenge Accepted” More to come on that match later but you don't want to miss it, I guarantee that!
The action started off with a new evolution in tag team wrestling as the always cocky Trevor Lee made his way to the ring with his tag team parnter in tow, Ben Tyler. Lee impressed me at the previous event & I wasn't familiar with Tyler but by the end of this match I was propositioning PWEvo to bring these guys back. On this night they took on the team of Chivas Kid & Joe Black. Chivas Kid is a fan favorite with his goat mask & Manchester United Jersey teaming with the intense Joe Black, this was a good one from start to finish. Lee & Tyler got the crowd infuriated with admiring one anothers abs & physiques while exchanging hugs in between furious dopkicks & slams from Black & Chivas. To start a show off hot is as important as anything and these four men superceded that goal, you'll be watching this opener more than once when you purchase the #FollowThis dvd.
Up next was another star returning from the previous show as Mike Merletti(and his flowing locks) made their way to the ring. Almost immediately the “Stevie Richards” chants started as their is a pretty uncanny resemblance between the two. Merletti quickly let the crowd know they weren't getting under his skin as he yelled “I like it!' but they soon found another chant he didn't like so much when they began chanting “Fabio” as country music filled The Cabarrus Arena Big Country made his way around the ring greeting the fans who were pumped up for the big man in overalls to give “Fabio” what he deserved. This was a dominating performance with Merletti battling the ringside fans as much as he was Big Country, you get a perfect mix of high flying, high intense action & old school wrestling at Pro Wrestling Evo, this was the latter style of wrestling and kept the fans entertained throughout the entire match. Check it out & see if Merletti can pick up his first win in Pro Wrestling Evo and silence those ringside fans. In the end it was Country who had a problem with a ringside fan of his own as the man who proclaims “He Is Wrestling” Zane Riley was in attendan
ce and got into a scuff with Big Country as he was leaving, Riley had to be escorted out by building security but this is not over!
As quick as the previous match ended, familiar music filled the Cabarrus Arena once more and Zack Salvation reemerged as the crowd once again sprang to their feet and it was time for the Manscout Merit Challenge. Jake Manning made his way to the ring as Salvation seemed relaxed joking with fans at ringside, had Manning lured The Queen City Killer into a false sense of security with his promise to follow the Scout's Oath and compete with honor? Manning started the match with a handshake which Salvation reluctantly accepted & the two battled it out in a technical gem of a match which saw both men nearly claim victory with a MUST SEE display of near falls. In the end unforunately it would not be up to Salvation, Manning, or a Scout's Honor as to who won this match but another PWEvo Superstar would take matters into his own hands effecting the outcome of this big match. The Staticy white noise of The Cirkus theme hit in the arena next as The World Heavyweight Champion's “Man Creature” Circo made his way to the ring for a grudge match with Arik Royal. Just last month after defeating Trevor Lee at Best Show In Town, The Cirkus took it upon themselves to send a message to the EVO lockeroom by assaulting both men following their match, and Royal took acception to this asking to settle the score with the masked Circo. Royal came out intense on revenge but Circo does not keep company with the Heavyweight Champion without having merit of his own and he brought it right back to Big Arik Royal. Can Royal get his measure of revenge on the Cirkus and perhaps get a step closer to some revenge on what is surely his main target, The Evo Champion Marcellus King? This is another match that will have you sharing this dvd with friends.
To this point we have seen a great show, well worth the $12 admission to get in the door and at least twice worth the price of the DVD but we had no idea what we were in store for as Caleb Konley made his way to the ring with his newly won PWI International Ultra J Title to defend against the always Confident, and jovial Kirby Mack. Conley & Mack had been heating up the Social Networks with this rivalry nearly as long as they've been dominating the Independent wrestling scene, this was going to be a good one but I don't know if anyone had an idea just how good! I could tell you it was back and forth(which it was) and it was high intensity(probably doesn't do it justice) but words cannot describe the show these two put on as they battled for the title at Cabarrus Arena on this night. If you don't watch this match more than once you're probably not a wrestling fan anymore. This is a MUST SEE as both guys laid it all on the line for the crowd & this presitgious Jr. Heavyweight Title.
It's main event time and we've seen Cedric Alexander on the brink of insanity in the last few weeks threatening Marcellus King's life, his health, even his MOMMA! The World Title was not the only thing on Alexander's mind in this NO Disqualification match with the Evo World Heavyweight Champion, he wanted to hurt King & hurt him he would. Marcellus “The Mid Atlantic” King made his way to the ring with every bit of swagger he does each time he makes an appearance, this time however he found Cedric Alexander huddle in the corner like rabid dog looking for a snack and the action was on! Some of this one should probably be censored but I guarantee you'll get every bit of it on the #FollowThis DVD and YOU will be hurting watching these two punish each other all around the arena. This battle of pure brawn turned into a battle of Brawn vs Brains in the end as Alexander snapped, will his trip to insanity reward him with the Pro Wrestling Evolution Heavyweight title for a second time?
Check out the stellar Main Event that was as brutal as it was entertaining between Cedric Alexander & EVO Heavyweight Champion Marcellus “The Mid Atlantic” King, a rivalry that was ramped up to the inth degree & is likely far from over. Pro Wrestling Evo produces the best independent wrestling shows in the SouthEast with a roster packed with talent & a production value few & far between on the independent scene. #FollowThis lived up to and beyond this billing & is a must see for wrestling & fans and a MUST BUY for independent wrestling fans.
