Pro Wrestling Xperience presents New Years Resolution
January 6, 2012
American Legion Bldg Lancaster, SC

Pro Wrestling Experience has been running some great shows in Charlotte, North Carolina & York, South Carolina in 2011. On January 6, 2012 PWX made their debut in Lancaster, South Carolina and presented New Years Resolution, their first show of the new year. PWX does a great job with promoting their shows at their official website www.pwxperience.com and bringing in the hottest, young indy talents in the Southeast along with several stars from across the U.S.   Rhett Titus, Cedric Alexander, Jerry Lawler, & Colt Cabana are just a few names that worked for PWX in 2011.  On this night in Lancaster, the crowd was very light for the debut  as PWX presented an enjoyable, yet underwhelming first card of the year.

Matches & Overall show rating is graded from 1-4 stars

“The Manscout” Jake Manning v Mickey Gambino

Manning got the crowd behind him early in this one, singling out the wardrobe of Gambino & controlled this match from the onset, displaying the technical skill & interaction with the crowd that is making him a well known name on the indy circuit. Gambino made a small comeback attempt which was quickly thwarted by Manning who picked up the win with a backbreaker into a flatliner. * *

Mike Posey v The Chivas Kid
Next up another familiar name on the southeast indy scene, The Chivas Kid took on former Impact Wrestling referee Mike Posey. Posey has a great physique and wrestles a WCW era cruiserweight style mixed with strong style. For those who have read my columns before, Chivas never has a boring match with his lightning quick moves & high risk offense. The crowd was pretty dead for this one considering some of the great moves Chivas pulled off but ultimately this match underwhelmed with Posey getting a victory. *1/2

Them Damn Texans v Wolfman & Nick Richards
The team Them Damn Texans,  Jimmy Jack Funk Jr & ZaneXcore hit the ring next having promised to run through any tag team put in front of them, answering the challenge tonight was Wolfman & Nick Richards. The Texans are always fun to watch & have a great chemistry together in the ring, drawing heat at any event they show up to. On the other hand we had a thrown together tag team(one of my personal pet peeves in the world of professional wrestling). Richards drew some comparisons to Denver Broncos QB Tim Tebow from the crowd & obliged them by “tebowing” which may have been the highlight for his tag team. Them Damn Texans dominated this match, in the end isolating Richards on the floor & hitting an atomic drop/lariat combo on Wolfman for the win. **

There was a brief intermission and the only remainng question was which of the Double Main Events would take Match of the Night Honors, this question was quickly answered as the next four men took the ring

.

The Fun Athletic Guys v Corey Hollis & Chip Day
The team of Ben Tyler & Trevor Lee, The Fun Athletic Guys made their way to the ring and the fans in attendance took no time in figuring out the acronym of their team name & bursting into a chant. Lee & Tyler unphased admired one anothers physiques making the crowd cringe just a bit. Lee & Tyler are really two young, talented guys you should go out of your way to see, from their showmanship to their in ring ability they do have the total package. Their opponents tonight are two equally impressive guys, Corey Hollis & “Do or Die” Chip Day. Day has some amazing kicks that elicited as many groans from the crowd as Trevor Lee’s body wiggles & oogling of his tag team partner. This match lived up to it’s billing & more with lighnting quick offense, back & forth action & innovative offense. The Fun Athletic Guys continued their winning ways getting the victory in the definitive match of the night. ***

Caleb Konley v Kirby Mack
The PWI International Ultra J title was on the line in the final match of the night as reigning champion Caleb Konley took on controversial challenger Kirby Mack. These two have been waging war against one another on the social network sites & on the PWX website and it continued in Lancaster as Mack pulled the announcer’s microphone cord during Conley’s introduction, unfortunately the battle of words would far outweigh the in ring battle. Again, anytime you get any number of talented workers in the ring together you will be entertained. On this night both Conley & Mack put on a show as they battled for the title, it just fell short of rivaling the previous match for MOTN honors. Never one to be shy, Kirby traded barbs with Conley, as well as the ringside fans, but it was Conley who controlled most of the match. Mack got his offense in, but opted for more of a ground game attempting to wear the champion down. We did get the “Mack Classics” such as the sprinkler, and his version of the 619, which was blocked by Conley. Caleb retained the title with a variation of a  standing crossbow, that seemed to come out of nowhere. ** 1/4
