Match 1 – Rumble Roulette Match – Dean Allmark vs Martin Kirby vs Jack Gallagher vs Robbie X [****]

Wow what a way to start the nights action, this was a great 4 way elimination match with an added twist as this was Rumble Roulette. The rules were simple, the first person who would be eliminated would enter the Rumble later on as entrant number 1, seconded eliminated would enter as entrant number 10, the third eliminated enters at number 20 and the winner gets that all important last rumble entrant spot, and being entrant number 30. So the stakes were quiet high going into this match up. The talent in this match up was incredible, Kirby is real good wrestler always solid in the ring, Jack Gallagher is phenomenal and is getting better everytime i see him perform. Its great to see Dean Allmark getting on alot more shows and venturing out from All Star shows. One great comment i read about Deano recently was “Outside of his All Star surroundings he can enter to polite applause as his clap-happy face persona, but by the end of the match after really going balls to the wall to impress, he will leave to rapturous applause after making a lasting impression” i couldn’t sum Allmark any better up, he is a terrific performer. Now onto Robbie X, am a big fan of the lad and at 18 years old he is going to be a massive star in BritWres without a doubt. This really was a great match and a fine choice to open the show, all 4 guys busted their asses for the whole 11 minutes in this match up, it really was all out action throughout. The blend of wrestlers involved resulted in a great mix, we had the two highflyers in Robbie X and Dean Allmark, the technical whiz in the form of Gallagher and a solid all rounder in the shape of Kirby and all guys gelled together really well. The action started with some nice grappling between Kirby and Allmark which quickly resulted in some high speed wrestling between the two. Throughout the match up there were some really great sequences and moments, one which really stood out was when Allmark whipped Robbie X into the corner and as Robbie tried to counter as Dean ran at him, by using the top turnbuckle to elevate himself over Allmark, Deano caught Robbie with a real stiff European Uppercut mid air as he was coming down, it looked fantastic ive never seen anything like that before to be honest. Whilst the wrestling was at a real fast pace, including some great looking dives to the outside, there was also some real stiff action that came in the form of European Uppercuts, forearms and kicks. Martin Kirby was the first to be eliminated when Gallagher was to role in him up, after he was distracted by Caz Crash, Gallagher played a great heel in this match up, the crowd loved giving him abuse and enjoyed it even more when the faces put a beating on him with some stiff shots following by a beautiful running shooting star from Robbie X. Robbie X was the next to be eliminated again by Gallagher when he was able to sneak up on Robbie and role him up for the 3 count. So it came down to the final two, Jack Gallagher and Dean Allmark to determine who was going to be the number 30 entrant in the nights main event. The two traded some great action along with some real close near falls. Allmark was able to pick up the win however when he was able to reverse Gallagher’s pin attempt into his own, which was enough to pick up the win. Great opener and what a way to get the nights action underway.

Match 2 – Los Amigos (El Ligero & Dara Diablo) (c) vs Team GB (Sam Bailey & Zack ‘Diamond’ Gibson) – NGW Tag Team Championship Match [***]

The second contest of the evening saw the very popular Los Amigos putting their NGW Tag Team titles on the line against the recently formed Team GB, who play a really good gimmick coming to the ring with baseballs in hand and matching track tops, the closest i could describe the gimmick is that they sort of portray football hooligans. This was a good and enjoyable tag team match as to be expected from the talent in the ring. The ultra popular Los Amigos as always fun to watch with their highflying antics and the heel dynamic conveyed from Team GB delivered the goods. What really stood out in this match is that both teams have fantastic double team moves and gel so well together in my opinion. Los Amigos were able to retain their tag team titles when El Ligero was able to roll up Zack Diamond for the 3 count. Team GB at one point lost their tempers with one another butting heads at one stage as their frustration at being unable to put the Los Amigos away was about to boil over. This animosity between the tag team partners was there for all to see post match as well. Los Amigos chalk up another title defences and delivered the goods in the ring as well, as this a real good match up. One thing that surprises me is that i have only seen Dara Diablo only compete for NGW, and not in any other promotions have had the chance to view. The bloke has grown on me and is really good in the ring combine that with how popular Los Amigos are as a tag team, along with that they have great chemistry with one another and extremely over with the fans, am sure it wont be long before we Dara Diablo start working for other companies across the UK, especially with one or two companies starting up their tag divisions in the coming months the Los Amigos would be a perfect addition to said divisions.

Match 3 – Matt Myers (c) vs Rampage Brown – NGW Championship match [***1/4]

A fantastic video promo plays before the competitors make their way to the ring, again NGW really excel with the fantastic promo videos that they produce. They are great for getting the crowd pumped up and the viewers watching on DVD for the upcoming match, and it also in my opinion sets NGW apart from alot of indie promotions not just domestically but internationally as well, their production and set up is fantastic. This match basically came about as at the last show, Dawn of Heroes Rampage Brown attacked Matt Myers after he successfully defended his NGW title against the ‘Showstealer’ Nathan Cruz.

This was a real good contest by two fantastic wrestlers on the NGW roster. Matt Myers is a massive babyface in NGW, their number one in fact with a never say die attitude, whilst Rampage Brown the former WWE development talent is a agile powerhouse who dwarfs the much smaller Myers in size. Right from the get go this was a fight, with Myers using his speed and agility to avoid the attacks of Brown along with landing some real stiff kicks to the legs of Brown to cut him down to size. Brown took a great bump onto the outside ramp entrance, to further solidify the injured leg. Rampage Brown regained dominance and really beat down on Myers, highlighting what a dominate force he is, the never say die attitude of Myers formed the base for numerous fight backs and refusals to stay down for the three count even kicking out of Rampage Brown’s finishing Samoan Drop. One aspect i also liked in this match, was in Rampage Brown’s previous match against Joey Hayes at Dawn of Heroes the crossface he used was really highlighted as danger and that he could it out of no where, so when in the mid to early portion of this match Brown hooked his crossface in on Myers the crowd were on the edge of their seats as Myers was able to quickly scramble to the ropes to break the hold after only being caught in it for a few seconds. Great booking from NGW, something again they really excel at. The finish saw Rampage Brown become the new NGW champion, as after he hit another Samoan Drop on Myers he went to the pin but lifted Myers of the mat before the 3 count and then proceeded to lock in the crossface with Myers being put unconscious, and losing his title. A real strong finish as it puts Rampage Brown as being an absolute brute force in NGW, whilst also keeping the fan favorite Matt Myers strong in the process going forward. A real good title match up here put on by both guys.

Match 4 – 30 man rumble [****1/4]

This was NGW’s first ever Rumble match and they produced a great rumble match that had everything drama, great storytelling, fantastic action it really was a great main event to wrap up what was a cracking show from NGW. I”ll try give a little run down of the goings on in this rumble and some of the key moments. Remember that tension i mentioned between Team GB, Sam Bailey and Zack Gibson that occurred earlier in the night well the two started a pushing match between one another and it looked as though they were about to lock horns with the crowd going crazy at a possible split between the two, but instead swerved the crowd and hugged in the middle of the ring, and began teaming up against the other entrants of the rumble that were currently in the ring at the time. This rumble was given alot of time a good hour and 10 minutes, but it never dragged or out stayed its welcome due to there being a constant flow of quality wrestling on display throughout the contest. On going story lines were also a heavy feature throughout the contest, after previously being eliminated, Sam Bailey used his baseball bat to wipe out a leg of Robbie X’s who was postioned on the outside of the ropes, thus aiding in eliminating him from the rumble, Avian ran down to chase Bailey off before he could lay anymore damage on the injured Robbie X. The ‘Showstealer’ Nathan Cruz entered the rumble match up at number 12, his bodyguard Colossus Kennedy had previously entered the rumble before him and the two began to work in tandem as expected to eliminate other members of the the rumble. However, when it came to Colossus Kennedy eventually being eliminated Cruz had the chance to help the big man but choose to stand there and not help, so as a result the eliminated Colossus Kennedy with no idea what had gone on was ordered to stay at ringside and help Cruz and prevent in from being eliminated. The big man at numerous times aided Cruz and prevented him from being eliminated on quite a few occasions, however when he was unable to prevent Cruz from being eliminated, The ‘Showstealer’ was livid and went mental with Colossus ,planting the seeds for a future storyline further down the line. The in ring action continued to be wrestled at a very high standard with some great sequences and eliminations, in the end the final two in the rumble and the man to become the new number one contender to NGW championship was down to Stixx and the ‘Tyneside Titan’ Lowthian, these two guys were given a nice bit of time to tease the crowd with eliminations which added to the drama and excitement of this contest, eventually Stixx was able to use Lowthian’s momentum against him and pull the top rope down when Lowthian ran at him, resulting in the ‘Tyneside Titan’ being eliminated and Stixx becoming the new number one contender to the NGW championship. This was a great rumble storylines were advanced, seeds were also planted for future story lines and the in ring action was great.

Overall show thoughts – This a a must buy show, although i still rate Eternal Glory 3 as the best show i have seen from NGW, Destiny comes dam close to being better. From top to bottom this really is a fantastic show, the show opens with a great 4 man elimination and concludes with a cracking rumble match, the best i have seen on the UK shores up to now and certainly better then the Royal Rumble the WWE had this year. One thing I have to highlight is the story telling from NGW it is first rate and for me are the best in the country, there storylines are clear and consise nothing is ever to over complicated but they keep you on the edge of yours seat, at times teasing you as to how the storyline will advance and as a result, i myself look forward to every NGW release and this is testament to the great storylines they have in place that keep you hooked. Also i know i have mentioned this before and in this review but the promo videos NGW produce are phenomenal. So yeah guys pick this DVD up now !!!

** Id also like to thank the guys over at NGW for hooking me up with this DVD to review, cheers fellas !
