-Shane Hollister (w/Marcus Crane and Scarlet) vs. J. Miller

Match in Five Words or Less: Rising Stars

Match Highlights: Someone needs to explain to me why Scarlet has BLONDE hair. One of life’s great mysteries I guess. Hollister gets into it with some fans right away. Feeling out process between two of the rising stars in the Midwest. Whip of Miller into the corner and a Suge step. Miller comes in with a kick, but Hollister departs to the outside. Kick blocked by Miller. Spin kick. Up and over he goes. Forearm. Slingshot face plant. Off the ropes with a knee drop. Hollister and Miller forearm battle. Series of strikes and a back kick. Scarlet grabs his boot. Miller recovers but misses a double stomp. Boot. Dragon suplex blocked. Hollister throws him up. Boot. God’s Last Gift! Done.

Match Analysis: Always great to see two of the young stars in the Midwest get a chance to showcase themselves in the opening match of a show. Both guys are excelling right now with Hollister coming into his own as a heel big time. I hope Miller can start making his way up the card soon.

Winner (s)/Time/Rating: Shane Hollister/11:08/***1/4

-Phil Colvin interviews Jim Lynam. Lynam says a big rest of the year is forthcoming and he needed someone to help him make matches. Tony Rican is introduced. Rican is going to be Joe Silva to Jim Lynam’s Dana White… except Lynam doesn’t tell AAW fans to stop buying shows nor has he cancelled because one of his main eventers doesn’t want to take a fight on short notice. His first talent signing is Isaias Velasquez. His promos needs work.

-Danny Daniels (w/Truth Martini) vs. Davey Vega

Match in Five Words or Less: Poor Davey

Match Highlights: As if car trouble at Trios wasn’t bad enough, Vegas gets to wrestle Danny Daniels. Lock-up goes to the ropes and Daniels slaps him in the chest. Headlock by Vegas. Shoulder tackle sends Daniels down. Quick rana and a side headlock takeover. Chops in the corner by Daniels. Strike exchange. Daniels rams him. Snapmare. Daniels kicks Vega into the opposite corner before tossing him to Truth Martini. Phil Colvin: This is how you do villain stuff. Sometimes, even when breaking kayfabe, all you can do is laugh. Daniels hits a scoop slam. Chop. Headbutts in the midsection. Knee by Daniels. Choking along the bottom rope. Hard slap. Vega responds back with chops. Boot to the midsection and Vega sent into the corner. Daniels with a pair of chops. Elbow by Vega. Boot blocked. Daniels cuts him off and slaps him. Right hand blocked. Superkick by Vega. Daniels clubbers him in the back. Victory roll but Vega kicks him. Springboard lungblower. Chop exchange. Forearm by Vega. Daniels pokes him in the eyes. Vega with a kick and boot. Rolling elbow. Daniels takes him up and over. Enziguri by Vega. Dropkick off the top rope. Daniels blocks a go behind. Vega comes back in the ring with a flatliner. Peruvian necktie. Martini puts his man’s foot on the bottom rope. Vega chases Martini instead of focusing on Daniels. Poke to the eyes after a series of ducked clotheslines. Daniels rips Vega hard into the ring frame. Daniels with a piledriver on the apron. Back in the ring and the pin is academic.

Match Analysis: This was fine. Nothing special but Vega looked good in spots. I assume some sort of issue remains between Daniels and MsChif, so it made sense to keep Daniels strong.

Winner (s)/Time/Rating: Danny Daniels/8:26/**

-Sami Callihan is looking for real food. Feed him more? He wants protein and finds a turkey. Wait for three months on that one. Callihan tries to keep himself calm and mentions how he was on the poster for this very show. Callihan says he looked up to Whitmer but will use him as a stepping stone toward getting AAW gold.

-The Clash (Cameron Skyy and Austin Mannix) vs. Louis Lyndon and Marion Fontaine

Match in Five Words or Less: Solid Villain Stuff

Match Highlights: Corbin has other business to attend to later, so that’s why he’s not with his regular partner. Clash charge but Lyndon and Fontaine pose in front of them. Skyy says they’re going to save them. Series of right hands. Some shenanigans about who’s going to let go of their partner’s leg. Headscissors by the faces. Plancha by Fontaine on Skyy. Lyndon strikes Mannix. Boots out of the corner. Springboard moonsault to the outside. Fontaine with left hands. Double whip and elbows. Lyndon with a leg sweep. Senton by Fontaine. Lyndon has one kick blocked but hits one on a second attempt. Diving clothesline by Mannix. Clash continue on Lyndon. Referee misses Lyndon tagging Fontaine. Jumping knee to Skyy on the corner. Running boot on Mannix. Fontaine comes in. Leg lariat on Mannix. Shoulder block. Tea bag. Lyndon blind tag. Tope suicida by Fontaine. Lyndon rolls Mannix over. Into an unusual roll-up for two. Boot out of the corner. Mannix crotches Lyndon. They try to take Lyndon off but Fontaine saves the day with left hands. Skyy again hits his partner. Superkick by Fontaine on Mannix. Skyy to the floor. Moonsault press by Lyndon into the variation of the dragon sleeper. Mannix taps.

Match Analysis: You know things are bad for the Clash when they’re not even losing to real teams. Considering the dwindling number and miscommunication, I have to believe Mannix and Skyy are due for a break-up. Lyndon continues getting better and a Heritage title reign would seem to be a good fit for him in the very near future.

Winner (s)/Time/Rating:  Louis Lyndon and Marion Fontaine/9:00/**1/2

-MsChif talks about Shimmer in two months. Saraya Knight is coming a night early for AAW, so MsChif gets a title shot. MsChif still has a problem with Danny Daniels, and this leads to Truth Martini coming out. MsChif talks about being tired of him. Martini calls this hoopla and says tonight is about the House of Truth. He accidentally calls the AAW title the AWA title. LOL! Martini recovers beautifully and still calls the fans morons. He calls MsChif a fluzy but at least he doesn’t bury Shimmer. He makes a sexual innuendo. MsChif calls Martini a problem and the reason she can’t beat Danny Daniels. MsChif challenges Martini to a fight. Martini pokes her in the eye. Off come some of the clothes. Martini comes off the ropes, takes off his glasses, and gets misted. MsChif taps Martini out as Daniels and Jesse Emerson come out. Elgin comes in and hits a belly-to-belly suplex on Emerson. Uranagi on Daniels. Martini is taken to the back as the Heritage title match is apparently going to begin right now.

-AAW Heritage Championship: Michael Elgin (champion) vs. Jesse Emerson

Match in Five Words or Less: Hoopla Around Elgin

Match Highlights: Elgin clotheslines Emerson over before taking him for a tour of the Berwyn Eagles club. Emerson rams him against the side of the ring. Series of strikes go nowhere. Elgin holds him up there for a good 20 seconds. Series of shoulder blocks to Emerson’s arm. Forearm blocked. Emerson with a shoulder block. Dragon screw leg whip along the middle rope. Elgin with boots. Small package. Emerson misses a blind charge. Series of clotheslines by the champion. Emerson rammed in the corner. Running boot blocked. Uranagi by Emerson. 1-2-NO! Into the mount and right hands by Emerson. Elgin shoves away. Boot to Emerson. Enziguri. Crossface. Daniels runs in but gets caught. Elgin crossfaces Daniels. Emerson crucifix pins him. Elgin counters back into the crossface. Emerson taps, and Elgin keeps the hold on a bit longer.

Match Analysis: Emerson is so underutilized. I’ve said a lot about Elgin skills (and boy will I next show review), but Emerson is a guy who can bring the goods and would fit in well with Ring of Honor. I don’t understand why they didn’t just make him a Guardian of Truth. He’s actually serviceable and probably wouldn’t cost as much.

Winner (s)/Time/Rating: STILL Heritage Champion-Michael Elgin/10:55/***

-Elgin says there’s no competition like there is AAW. He’s proud to be called the Heritage champion, but he’s worried about being worn down on his other side. He wants Silas Young and the AAW heavyweight championship. Elgin says Young was ready to tap out in April and says the belt is coming with him soon.

-Truth Martini’s eyes are burning, but he can still make inappropriate jokes.

-Colt Cabana, Dan Lawrence, and Gregory Iron vs. Irish Airborne (Jake and Dave Crist) and Mason Beck

Match in Five Words or Less: Not Getting Along

Match Highlights: Lawrence starts out with Dave. Feeling out process as Colvin makes bad puns. Cabana with a slap across Dave’s bag. He leaves the ring. Jake and Lawrence continue the mat wrestling sequence. Cabana slaps Jake too. Lawrence grabs a headlock  on Dave as we get more shenanigans from Cabana. Whip by Dave. Dropkick by Lawrence. Iron whipped but he hits a series of forearms. Dave brought down across the top turnbuckle. Dave comes back and sends Iron down on the middle turnbuckle. Control segment by IA and Beck. Beck lifts iron and Lawrence on his shoulders. Kicks from IA as Beck samoan drops them. Back to work on Iron. Iron ducks a charge from each member of IA. Hot tag to Cabana. Beck punched off the apron. Polish hammers for Jake. Whip. Flying butt bump. Jabs and a big elbow for Dave. More jabs and an elbow for Beck. Jab to Jake and finally a big elbow strike. Cover for two. Lawrence and Iron enter. All six men come in the ring. Heels sent into each other… and they’re hugging. They fall to the mat. COMEDY. Cabana with a sliding dropkick on IA. Iron whips Lawrence into Beck’s boot. Boot. Cabana catches Iron and low bridges Beck. Dave with a splash and shoulder tackle. Jake dumped to the floor. Cabana with a right hand. Iron holds Dave. Lawrence passes on coming off for any bit of offense and leaves. Series of kicks from Jake. Acecrusher by Dave. Ditto for Cabana. Dave with a shoulder tackle. Boot by Jake. Northern lights suplex by Jake. Into Mason Beck. Splash Mountain on Cabana. 1-2-NO! Iron pulls PJ Drummond out of the ring. Well, that was odd. Jake and Dave go after Iron. Beck Mountain attempt. Cabana backslides Beck out of nowhere and gets the victory for his team.

Jake boots Iron. Tandem tombstone piledriver on the floor! Cabana looks confused.

Match Analysis: Very good match that mixed in the storyline well. Beck’s losing streak continues. Iron and Lawrence still can’t get along. Good action as you might expect from these six men. The post-match angle was also effective in that Iron was taken out and IA established themselves as giant douchebags. Good match.

-Shane Hollister attacks Colt Cabana. Marcus Crane gets elbowed. Cabana hits Go 2 Sleep on Hollister. Scarlet comes from behind and slaps Cabana around. Elbow… no. And Cabana takes her shirt off. Never has the prospect of female nudity interested me less.

Winner (s)/Time/Rating: Colt Cabana, Gregory Iron, and Dan Lawrence/14:26/***1/4

-Tweek Phoenix vs. Darin Corbin

Match in Five Words or Less: They’re Here

Match Highlights: Corbin attacks right away. Series of left hands. Knee by Phoenix. Corbin hits a back elbow. Running forearm in the corner. Left hands in the corner. Rake of the eyes by Phoenix. Headbutt. Running shoulder tackle. Phoenix mocks Joey Eastman.  Whip in the corner. Phoenix goes shoulder first into the post. Sliding dropkick and left hands on the outside. Corbin sent into the side of the ring. Punch exchange. Corbin teases a piledriver. Back drop by Phoenix. More punching by both men on the apron. Corbin clotheslines him back in the ring. GINGER RAGE. Clothesline and Phoenix’s leg gets sent into the steel stairs. Phoenix catches Corbin with a back elbow. Phoenix argues with another fan. Punch from Corbin. Phoenix crotched on the top rope. Nikki Mayday comes from the crowd for whatever reason. Well, she has a history with Corbin. Corbin is distracted. People from the back try to clear Nikki. Someone in a gas mask comes from behind. It’s Keith Walker. Clothesline on Marion Fontaine. Walker is in a gas mask. Lyndon comes in. Lamar Titan attacks him. Kevin Harvey comes out, and this match is completely thrown out.

Match Analysis: Can’t really talk about match quality since it played a back seat to the angle. We’ll see where this goes. Phoenix, Walker, Titan, Mayday, and Harvey are an interesting mix, but without a main event level guy, it’s going to be really hard taking them seriously as a threat. Plus, the trend of companies being invaded has gotten tiresome. I like the talent involved, and Titan is better off being a part of a group to start is a wise decision, but the follow-up will be absolutely crucial.

Winner (s)/Time/Rating: No-contest/N/R/N/R

-Phoenix with a boot shot to the back of the head. Harvey lights Lyndon’s face on fire. The Twitter angle “We are coming.” Well, this is them.

-Silas Young is unhappy with his mens’ performance tonight in the earlier six man tag.  Dave talks about them being a collective unit. Jake says Young is on his own. Dave shakes his hand. Young focuses on Beck and how long it took him to beat ACH. Young vows to win in two minutes. Well, that would be terribly disappointing.

-Sami Callihan vs. BJ Whitmer

Match in Five Words or Less:  Stiff

Match Highlights: Whitmer hits a running boot and exploder as the bell rings. 1-2-NO! Right hand and a pair of chops. Back drop. Callihan sent into the top rope. Chop in the corner. Callihan whipped. Straight right hand by Whitmer. Choking on the mat. Backbreaker. Right hand and strike by Callihan. Another chop but Whitmer knee strikes him in the midsection. Back elbow. Chinlock. Callihan boots him out. Whitmer hits a spinebuster. 1-2-NO! Callihan whipped in the corner. Callihan sent in the corner. Another whip across. Whip but Callihan hits a clothesline. Another one. Running bicycle kick. Back elbow. He goes to the top rope. Whitmer strikes him. Callihan battles back. Headbutt. Sunset bomb blocked by Whitmer. Superkick to the left leg by Callihan. Face wash. Callihan gets himself and the fans fired up. A second face wash. Whitmer blocks a third attempt. Death valley driver by Callihan. Knee to the midsection by Whitmer. Another knee blocked. Dragon screw leg whip by Callihan. Figure four leg lock. Whitmer reaches the bottom rope. Right hand by Callihan. Leg kick. Whitmer hits the exploder. 1-2-NO! Callihan with a kick to the back of the head. Back drop driver blocked. Callihan locks him in and finally hits the back drop driver. Running clothesline. Boot from Whitmer. Twisting fishermen’s buster into the bridged fishermen’s suplex. 1-2-NO! Callihan counters and then grabs the stretch muffler. Whitmer counters into the Peruvian necktie. Callihan nearly passes out but manages to put his foot on the rope. Exploder blocked. Elbows by Callihan. Armdrag. Charge misses. Callihan holds onto the top rope to block the exploder. Roll-up out of the stretch muffler. Kick to the leg. Running forearm. 1-2-NO! Stretch muffler but another counter. Low dropkick. Stretch muffler! Whitmer taps

Match Analysis: This was a very good compact match. In under 15 minutes, these two had a very entertaining fight. Not a lot of mat wrestling but some good psychology could still be found as Callihan continually went for the stretch muffler throughout the match and really focused on the knee. Great battle and there would be nothing wrong with a return match.

Winner (s)/Time/Rating: Sami Callihan/13:49/***1/2

-ACH talks about making his return and not losing in two minutes. He talks about not wanting to give up and being better than the man he was yesterday. He talks about taking the belt back to Texas. Very good promo.

-AAW Heavyweight Championship: Silas Young (w/Val Malone)(champion) vs. ACH

Match in Five Words or Less: Stepping Up Again

Match Highlights: This is just ACH’s second match in AAW, so the pressure is on. The challenger offers a handshake. Young shows little interest and even slaps his hand away. Punch exchange. Young takes him in the corner. Knees by ACH. Second rope rana. Slide and then the leaping kick. Slingshot acecrusher. 1-2-NO! ACH to the top. Champion catches. Slaps from ACH. Palm strike/chop battle. Kick to the midsection. Shining wizard. 1-2-NO! Young hits a wheelbarrow German suplex. ACH takes him over with a roll-up. Double chops and a back kick. Young comes back with a backbreaker/clothesline combination. 1-2-NO! Nagasaki roll. Pee Gee Waja Plunge misses. ACH flips up. Six snap suplexes in a row by the challenger! Val Malone grabs ACH’s foot. Second rope 450 misses. Bubba bomb into the double full nelson lock. ACH has no choice but to tap.

Match Analysis: This was a very good piece of business again from these two men. ACH showed why AAW should have every bit of confidence in him. After delivering star-making performances in multiple companies already, you can add AAW to the list. Not a match of the year contender but very good wrestling for nearly 17 minutes. I liked Young trying to match ACH’s speed almost out of hubris before transitioning into more mat wrestling and wear down holds.

Winner (s)/Time/Rating:  Silas Young/16:57/***1/2

-Silas gives ACH credit for bringing it. No one can get the job done however. Michael Elgin stalks his way out since he’s got a gripe after April. Elgin wants one more match and says he can get the job done. The challenge is laid down. Two words. Five letters. I Quit match. Young wants Elgin to put the Heritage championship on the line. Well, enough is enough then. Title for title. Young attacks. Elgin puts him in the crossface. Malone rakes the face. Young applies his own submission. Amazing how on a night they set up an I Quit match, both men win by submission. Logical wrestling booking? In 2012? Yup, it happened. One more belt shot puts Elgin down for good. He holds up both belts briefly.

-Phoenix says mean things about Corbin. Kevin Harvey talks about giving people opportunities to those who haven’t gotten them before and those who were cast aside.

-AAW Tag Team Championship: Arik Cannon and Jimmy Jacobs vs. Zero Gravity (Bret Gakiya and CJ Esparza

Match in Five Words or Less: Back From A Wellness Suspension

Jacobs hits a spear for two. Heat segment on Esparza now. Cannon hits a 2K1 bomb, and Jacobs boos him? Well then. Jacobs slams him and then just walks around. Cannon does the same and struts. I literally have no idea what’s going on right now. Esparza rolls Jacobs up for two and gets punched. Forearm from Cannon and then it’s Indian deathlock time. Back drop on Gakiya. Jacobs salutes Cannon. Double beer mist for Gakiya. Can in the face. Jacobs the WASTES THE BEER BY POURING IT ON THE FLOOR! Cannon with a dropkick on Esparza. Jacobs mocks Cannon and tosses a can. Brainbuster. Jacobs tosses him out of the ring. 1-2-3! Champions retain.

Irish Airborne attack both teams immediately after the bout. Tandem spike piledriver on Jacobs and Cannon.

Match Analysis: This is one of the weirdest main events I’ve seen on an indy show this entire year. Between the drunkenness from Dave Prazak and the wackiness by the four men in the match, it felt like Phil Colvin was the voice of reason. I didn’t even think that was possible. The match was good… I think. There was some solid action amidst the craziness. Cannon either really loves or hates Zero gravity with the way he was taking liberties in the match. If nothing else, this was something different.

Winner (s)/Time/Rating: STILL AAW Tag Team Champions-Arik Cannon and Jimmy Jacobs/N/R/***1/4

The Verdict: Odd main event aside, this was another excellent AAW show.  There were no bad matches and everything served its purpose well. Another easy thumbs up show for me as AAW continues it’s 2012 roll.
