This week: 365 and counting (or, 372 by the time this is finished). CM Punk celebrates his full calendar year as WWE Champion, while Ryback runs into another beatdown from Ambrose, Rollins and Reigns, who apparently heard those “We Want Nexus” chants a few weeks back. Plus, Miz and Ziggler tear it up and Cena and AJ finally solve the problem of proving they never kissed each other by publicly kissing each other, in a plan so ingenius it’s hard to comprehend.

RAW

– Show opened with Ryback, who said his hunger couldn’t be supressed and said Punk and his three men would be his prey. He called them out and promised to tear the place apart if they didn’t come out. Vickie appeared instead, threatening fines or suspensions if he got out of line. She then gave him an opponent to test his appetite.

Ryback d. Tensai in 3:34. Tensai put up a fight and actually gave Ryback the choke bomb and senton, but didn’t even get a one count. Ryback powered up and won decisively with Shell Shocked. After the big mishap these two had a couple of months ago, this was an effective match for Ryback. I’d say if at first you don’t succeed, but their bad match was actually their second one, so nevermind.

– Sheamus was shown backstage arguing with a referee.

Wade Barrett d. Kofi Kingston in 9:07. They showed a WWE.com video of Wade saying he should be Intercontinental Champion pointing out that he eliminated him at Survivor Series. He also pointed out these two already feuded over the same belt a couple of years ago. Continuity, if not mobility. Wade picked up a win with the Bull Hammer after Kofi struggled with an eye injury through the match.

– Heyman met with Punk. Their mutual appreciation was interrupted by Striker, who tried to interview Punk. Punk didn’t want to answer his questions. Heyman said tonight was a celebration and even Ryback was invited, which Punk didn’t like.

Kaitlyn d. Aksana in 3:03. Aksana actually dominated, before Kaitlyn beat her with a simple gutbuster.

Antonio Cesaro d. Brodus Clay in 2:33. Truth did commentary. Brodus tried and missed a Vader bomb in the corner, leading to a flying uppercut from Cesaro and the Neutraliser.

– Vickie came out with two random people to go over the AJ Cena scandal some more. This was right after they showed a nice video for Cena being honoured for his 300th Make A Wish, mind you. She interviewed the two “eye witnesses” until AJ showed up. They argued until Cena finally came out. He said if Vickie wanted something to talk about, he’d give her something. Cena and AJ then kissed. A lot. That’s one way to write off the story I guess. Ziggler tried to attack and Cena chased him off, but seemed to injure himself in the process.

2 Out Of 3 Falls: Randy Orton d. Alberto Del Rio, by 2 Falls to 1 in 10:03. First fall saw Del Rio send Orton’s arm into the post repeatedly, causing the referee to call for a disqualification. Del Rio benefited in the second fall, after surviving an Orton comeback and submitting Orton with the cross armbreaker. In the final fall Ricardo tripped Orton and got thrown out. Del Rio tried an RKO, but Orton countered. Del Rio then countered an RKO into the cross armbreaker, but Orton escaped and won with the RKO.

– Cena was shown backstage getting his knee checked on.

Two On One Handicap Match: Great Khali d. Epico and Primo in 1:11. Hornswoggle came out with flowers for Rosa. But it was a trick and Rosa got sprayed with water. Khali then just won with the Punjabi Plunge on Epico. No idea.

– Heyman continued to organise Punk’s celebration.

The Miz d. David Otunga in 6:11. Otunga posted Miz’s shoulder and worked him over for a long time. Miz eventually recovered and pinned Otunga with the Skull Crushing Finale.

– Before his match, Sheamus said things between him and Big Show were personal now. He called out Big Show, who limped out. They argued until Damien Sandow came out to bring some civility to things.

Sheamus d. Damien Sandow in 11:45. Sandow, despite all his cowering, took a beating before finally taking control. This was also long. Not just long, italics long. In the end Sheamus fought back and won with the Brogue Kick.

– AJ went into Vickie’s office and ran into Tamina. Tamina stood between AJ and Vickie. AJ said if Vickie wouldn’t do anything about Cena being hurt, she would.

– Layla tried to convince AJ not to, but AJ went into the locker room looking for Ziggler. The 3MB were all in towels for reasons unknown. She confronted Ziggler, but Ziggler shut her down and insulted her. AJ attacked Dolph until Cena appeared. Ziggler kicked Cena’s knee and tackled him through some stalls before being dragged off of Cena.

Team Hell No! d. Rey Mysterio and Sin Cara by DQ in 7:52. The Primetime Players did commentary. Bryan and Kane had their usual dissension, before a whole host of dives put everybody down. They gained the advantage on Sin Cara. Things broke down before Rey hit a 619 on Kane. Kane caught Rey for a Chokeslam but the PTP ran in for the DQ. Hell No, Sin Cara and Mysterio cleared the ring.

– Backstage, Heyman promised Punk nobody would tarnish his moment tonight.

– Heyman gave Punk a grand introduction for his big celebration. Heyman called people out for crying about wanting the attitude era, but when he and Punk gave them attitude last week people didn’t like it. It’s a fair point. Punk brought up all the people who couldn’t hold the WWE Title for a full year, like Shawn, Bret, Undertaker and Rock. He showed a highlight video package of his 365 days (and counting) as champion. Punk went over a list of the top ten reigns in history, saying he had his sights set on July 25th 2018 when he’d pass Bruno Sammartino and have the longest reign in history. Heyman said he was a Bruno fan and he should be in the hall of fame, but Bruno could never beat CM Punk. And neither could Hogan. Neither could Steve Austin. And neither could The Rock. Punk bragged about beating Cena and Ryback at Survivor Series, until Ryback interrupted. But Ryback was attacked by Ambrose, Rollins and Reigns before he could get to the ring. They eventually overwhelmed Ryback and triple powerbombed him through the announce table again. The three NXT stood tall in the ring as Punk posed over Ryback.

MAIN EVENT

– The Ziggler Miz match got the hype video treatment, before both men exchanged words again before the match. Ziggler bragged about being the sole survivor at Survivor Series. He went to do Miz’s catchphrase and one guy in the crowd screamed “AND YOU SUCK” at the perfect moment, which Miz acknowledged. Both guys took shots at each other and Miz claimed Ziggler was scared to cash in and fail, causing Ziggler to slap him.

Dolph Ziggler d. The Miz in 16:02. An angry Miz cleared Ziggler out of the ring at the start. Fans were behind Miz after the pre match arguement. Ziggler gained control, despite taking a slingshot into the post. He got launched outside by Miz, but recovered to cut off Miz again. Miz posted his shoulder and Ziggler tried to expose a turnbuckle. Miz eventually got back in things and both scored near falls. Miz escaped the sleeper and set up the Skull Crushing Finale. Dolph escaped and Miz ended up being sent into the exposed turnbuckle, setting up a Zig Zag for the pin. As a whole package, this was really good. Probably one of the best TV matches of the year, which I wasn’t expecting going in.

– Striker tried to interview Dolph and was told to beat it. Also good. Ziggler said he was better than everybody and he was just getting started. He told Cena he wasn’t through with him.

Wade Barrett d. Justin Gabriel in 3:35. Gabriel put up a decent fight and actually had Wade set for the 450. But Wade crotched him, before delivering the Bull Hammer.

– Sandow came out at the end of the show to beg everyone’s indulgence. He announced he was going to rid the WWE of it’s most offensive delinquent, John Cena, next week on Main Event. He was disgusted with Cena’s lude public display of affection on Raw and declared John Cena was the ultimate false idol. Oh yes I’m looking forward to that match.

NXT

– Some guy tried to interview Ohno about his match with Trent. Ohno said he’d already avenged his loss to Trent, so maybe tonight he’d end his career. He said Trent would never be the same after tonight.

Paige d. Alicia Fox in 4:52. Crowd were pro Paige. She won out of nowhere with a lightning spiral which is apparently called the Paige Turner. Yay puns.

Big E Langston d. Camacho in 2:05. Camacho fared better against Big E than anyone else. Which isn’t saying a lot. Big E hit his fall out slam for the pin, then hit it again after the match to get his 5 count fix. The crowd still wanted one more, so Big E gave them it.

– Trent was found hurt backstage by referees. The camera backed away and found Leo Kruger lurking with a smile on his face.

Bronson d. Nick Rogers by submission in 1:51. Bronson’s entrance is pretty cool. He beat the crap out of Rogers, before giving him a brutal STO and won with a modified heel hook. As bruisers go, Bronson looks like he’s got some potential.

Luke Harper d. Mike Dalton in 2:43. Bray Wyatt came out rambling and sat in a rocking chair on the stage to watch his follower. Squash for Harper, winning with the black hole slam.

– Seth was set for an interview but got jumped by Jinder. They brawled as referees struggled to pull them apart.

Richie Steamboat d. Kassius Ohno in 9:57. Since Trent was hurt Ohno wanted the win by count out, but Dusty came out and put him against Richie instead. Richie started hot and wiped out Ohno with a crossbody to the floor. Ohno took control sending Steamboat into the post outside. But Richie rallied late and caught Ohno with the Sling Blade.

SUPERSTARS

Heath Slater and Jinder Mahal of the 3MB d. Santino Marella and Zack Ryder (Slater pinned Santino) in 6:20. Rematch from the Survivor Series pre show. 3MB cut off Ryder after a missed crossbody. Santino made a Santino style comeback and gave the Cobra to Drew and Jinder, but Slater hit the Smash Hit for the win.

Justin Gabriel d. Darren Young in 7:47. Gabriel had the better of things early. After some heavy whistling from Titus, Young managed to take over briefly, before Gabriel built momentum again. Young hit a back suplex on the apron, but Gabriel countered the double knee gutbuster. And Gabriel managed to get the win with his springboard moonsault.

SMACKDOWN

– Miz hosted MizTV, with Cena as his guest. Cena claimed he could still compete despite his knee. Miz asked about the kiss with AJ a bunch until AJ came out, then Ziggler. Long story short, Vickie showed up and Cena made a joke about nuts. Pointless.

Ryback d. Darren Young in 2:15. Titus did commentary. Of course Ryback won with Shell Shocked. Titus confronted Ryback afterwards, so Ryback gave him Shell Shocked too.

R-Truth d. Antonio Cesaro in 1:33. Cesaro insulted Thanksgiving before the match. Truth countered the Neutraliser and won with the Little Jimmy out of nowhere.

– Sheamus ran into Booker backstage and Booker told Sheamus he couldn’t let him compete after what he’d done recently. He did give Sheamus a chairs match with Big Show at TLC for the title. Booker told Sheamus to watch the show from one of the sky boxes instead and watch Show face Team Hell No later.

Alberto Del Rio d. Sin Cara by submission in 6:22. Sin Cara hit a dive on both Alberto and Ricardo almost immediately. Del Rio posted Sin Cara’s shoulder and took control. Sin Cara had a brief fight back at the end but Alberto brought him off the top with a super arm drag and won with the cross armbreaker.

– Backstage, Bryan and Kane argued over how they’d deal with Big Show tonight. Bryan asked if Kane was mad because he didn’t invite him for Thanksgiving dinner and said if they won tonight, Kane could come for Christmas instead. They agreed Kane could beat up Santa Claus.

Two On One Handicap Match: Big Show d. Team Hell No! in 8:01. Sheamus was shown watching with Regal in the sky box. Big Show dominated Bryan for a while before he missed a flying elbow from the middle rope. Bryan decided to go alone and not tag Kane. When that went south, he finally did bring in Kane to fight back. As Kane teased a Chokeslam Bryan tagged himself back in and went for the NO Lock, as Kane walked out. And Show escaped and won with a Chokeslam. Afterwards, Show warned Sheamus he’d have a chair in his hands this time.

WWE Intercontinental Championship: Kofi Kingston (c) d. Damien Sandow in 6:04 to retain the title. Wade did commentary. Kofi was quickly sent into the turnbuckles by Sandow to gain the upper hand. Kofi made a comeback and hit Trouble In Paradise for the clean pin. But Barrett promised his next defence would be his last and he’d be the next victim of the Barrett Barrage.

Dolph Ziggler d. Randy Orton in 9:38. All Orton early, before Ziggler sent Orton into the announce table. The match went back and forth until Orton made his big comeback and set up the RKO. But Ziggler countered it with a roll up and pulled the tights to get the pin. After the match Del Rio and Ricardo came out but Orton gave Ricardo the RKO and had a stare down with Alberto. Cena then caught Ziggler by surprise on the stage and put him in the STF.

What You (Probably) Need To See:
– Miz versus Ziggler, with the pre match, from Main Event. Best WWE TV match of the year contender.
– Barrett versus Kingston and Orton versus Del Rio from Raw.
– And Punk’s 365 day celebration with the Ryback attack.
