pws2013

-Wow, the ring looks like a small 16X16 footer.  The audio for the commentators is really awful right now.  UPDATE: The audio levels are better.

1. Sonjay Dutt vs. Trent Barreta

The building lights came on during the match and fans cheered so I guess the “intimate atmosphere” is not liked by the fans and will be left on for the rest of the show.  This was a fun match.  Sonjay at one point hit a moonsault standing on a chair.  This was like an X-Division match.  Barreta wins with the reverse Styles clash.

Winner: Trent Barreta **3/4

2. PWS TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH
The Phat Pack (c) vs Black Hollywood vs
South Side Playaz Club with Shelly Martinez &
Amber O’Neal vs D-Struction & Seduction

This was a little disjointed but everyone got their stuff in.  I’ve never seen these teams before but they looked fine here.  It got fun down the stretch with Shelley Martinez getting speared.  Black Hollywood win the tag titles with a double roll up.

Winners and NEW Champs: Black Hollywood **1/2

3. Kevin Steen vs. Dan Maff

This was fun at first but then Dan Maff took over at the end hit the burning hammer and made Steen tap to a guillotine choke.  Steen puked near the commentary table afterwards.  No joke.  More thoughts later.

Winner: Dan Maff **1/4

4.  Simon Dean vs. The Drunken Swashbuckler?

Yeah.  This is really happening.  Dean cut a promo at the start saying he challenged Stevie Richards for the Extreme Rules title but that’s not happening.  Then the Drunken Swashbuckler came out.  For real.  Simon Dean is wrestling in his gym jacket.  Swashbuckler is a dude dressed as pirate and apparently is smashed right now.  Simon Dean won by cheating at first but then Hurricane came out to tell the ref Dean cheated so the ref restarted the match and Swashbuckler rolled Dean up for a win.  This was bad.

Winner: Simon Dean *

5. PWS Tri-State Title: Alex Reynolds(c) vs. Starman

I guess a fake Alex Reynolds distracted Starman then Alex Reynolds dressed up in a black body suit and mask hit his finisher on Starman for a quick victory.  Now commissioner Vader has come out.  Vader restarts the match.  Starman hits a brainbuster for the win.

Winner: Starman **

6. ALL OUT WAR HARDCORE SCRAMBLE
Apollyon vs Devon Moore vs Lucifer Darksyde
vs Necro Butcher vs New Jack vs
Tommy Dreamer vs. Matt Tremont

The match starts before New Jack even comes out……..until now.  Classic ECW entrance right there.  New Jack comes out with Gangsta Ghosts?  Everyone is wearing a shirt in this match except Necro Butcher.  New Jack just busted out some Wolverine claws and makes Tremont bleed already.  The ref just added Falls Count Anywhere to the match.  I never knew a ref had so much authority.  New Jack sort of jumped off 10 foot hard cam scaffold.  This was kind of sort of a car crash match with staple guns, chairs and trash cans.  Necro made Apollyon tap out by choking him out with a chair.  New Jack cuts a promo on Necro Butcher putting over tomorrow’s main event.

Winner: Necro Butcher **3/4

INTERMISSION

Interesting to note they’re playing hype videos for the ROH iPPV tomorrow night which is going up against their own iPPV.  What the hell?

WE BACK

7. 30 Man Battle Rumble

Match starts with 15 students in the ring then the other fifteen come out in minute intervals.  I’m not making that up.  Human Tornado in the ring!!!!!!!!!!  Human Tornado got eliminated so that sucks.  A bunch of people who I don’t know come and go and then the Hurricane comes out to make things interesting.  I guess he was number 30.  Last three are Hurricane, Big-O and Bonesaw.  Hurricane eliminates Big-O.  Then Bonesaw eliminated Hurricane when they were both on the apron.  Bonesaw earns a PWS Heavyweight Title shot anytime.

Winner: Bonesaw **

8. John Morrison vs “The Pope” Elijah Burke

They both had cool sunglasses on.  They took them off at the same time.  Pope did the Bret Hart sunglasses gimmick with a kid in the front row then took the glasses from him to get cheap heat.  Somehow, they never faced each other before.  It’s a first time ever match between the two.  Good back and forth match.  This was better than most WWE television matches.  Morrison wins with starship pain.  Some good near falls at the end.

Winner: John Morrison ***1/4

9.  The Briscoe Brothers vs. The Rock N’ Roll Express

Wow, the Rock N’ Roll Express still got it.  This was fun while it lasted.  It was just a nostalgia match.  The Rock N’ Roll Express hit the double drop kick on Mark for the win.  This is kind of what you’d expect considering the age of the Express.  The Rock N’ Roll Express didn’t look out of place at all but it was interesting there wasn’t a hot finish down the stretch.  The Briscoes could have done a lot more to make the Express look out of place, but they put the legends over the right way.

Winners: The Rock N’ Roll Express **1/2

10. PWS World Title: Kevin Matthews(c) vs. Colt Cabana

Matthews hits a curb stomp on Cabana and “Super Dragon” chant breaks out.  Awesome.  Matthews hits his finisher twice  for the win.  The was fun.  It could have been a little more dramatic down the stretch.  Crowd cheers for Cabana after the match.  This was like most Cabana matches with some fun in the beginning and a little more serious towards the end.

Winner: Kevin Matthews **1/2

Raffle with autographed kendo sticks and chairs and such.  They take a shot at Extreme Rising.  Now there is a fan in the ring cutting a promo that sounds like gibberish.

11. Triple Threat International Dream Match: Jushin Thunder Liger vs. Tony Nese vs. Davey Richards

Liger looks like he’s been doing more cardio lately.  This was great.  This was match of the night by far and away.  All three guys brought it.  I wish it was a little longer, but it was still just as good.  Nobody phoned in a damn thing.  This was fast paced and had some cool spots.  At one point, Richards had an indian death lock on Nese and the ankle lock on Liger at the same time.  There were some great false finishes at the end.  Liger and Richards were in the ring with Nese laid out outside.  Liger hit the face palm followed by a brainbuster for the win.  This match saved the show.  After being disappointed by some matches that seemed good on paper on this show, this match delivered.

Winner: Jushin Thunder Liger ***1/2
