Nick Aldis vs. Tommy Dreamer for the Ten Pounds of Gold at House of Hardcore 39 in Philadelphia, PA is a case of Antagonist vs. Protagonist. Dating back to when Tim Storm was the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion, the issue between Dreamer and Aldis centers around respect and the past.
During a recent Busted Open appearance on Sirius XM, NWA President Billy Corgan appeared with Dave LaGreca and Tommy Dreamer. Billy Corgan had announced that Tommy Dreamer would be facing Nick Aldis for the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship. It was during this interview that Tommy Dreamer talked about wanting to face Cody Rhodes when he won the NWA Worlds Championship and also told a story back to the TNA Wrestling days involving Nick Aldis (named Magnus then).
The reaction that Nick Aldis has to this story is when this all became personal for the man holding the famous NWA Worlds Title. This is the most heated episode of Ten Pounds of Gold to date and sets the table for this Saturday Night’s House of Hardcore Event at the corner of Swanson and Ritner at the 2300 Arena (formerly known as the ECW Arena).
