The show kicks off with the man who shot Dario Cueto, Agent Winter. alongside Dario Cueto’s father, Antonio Cueto. Winter tells Antonio that he will need to find a new temple, Antonio says that’s no problem, as he knows a place.

WE ARE AT THE NEW TEMPLE!! Melissa Santos is alongside a picture of Dario Cueto in the ring, and there is a ten bell salute. HOWEVER, Antonio Cueto interrupts the salute, and let’s everyone know that he is the new promoter of Lucha Underground. Antonio wants a new Lucha Underground Champion, so tonight we will have AZTEC WARFARE 4!

Lucha Underground Championship – Aztec Warfare 4

The Mack and Killshot are starting 1 and 2, Dante Fox is nowhere to be found. Antonio Cueto announces that whoever is #3 will be their new partner. #3 is Son of Havoc! After a very short brawl, #4 is Joey Ryan! Joey enters the ring and pulls handcuffs out of his trunks, and then handcuffs himself to the ropes. They all beat down on Joey Ryan, as #5 is Mr. Pectacular (Jessie Godderz, making his LU debut). Killshot gets a quick pin, and eliminates the Mack! #6 is the Lucha Underground Champion, Pentagon Dark! We go to a commercial break. Once we get back, Pentagon takes everyone out with slingblades. Joey uncuffs himself, but quickly gets caught and Joey Ryan is eliminated! Pentagon and son of Havoc work together to eliminate Killshot. #7 is TOMMY DREAMER! Dreamer brings some kendo sticks, chairs, and a trash can into the ring. Pentagon then eliminates Mr. Pectacular. There’s a big standoff between a Pentagon and Dreamer, as #8 is Mariposa. Mariposa takes everyone out with a kendo stick, as more brawling erupts. Son of Havoc goes on to eliminate Mariposa. Pentagon sends Dreamer into a pile of thumbtacks! They get back in the ring, and Pentagon eliminates Tommy Dreamer. #9 is Vinnie Massaro. He receives a pizza as he goes down the steps! Pentagon shoves a slice in his face, and then drops Vinnie on it to eliminate him. #10 is Hernandez. Pentagon and Hernandez have a standoff, only for Pentagon to break his arm! Hernandez is quickly eliminated. Son of Havoc gets a close near fall on Pentagon, only for Pentagon to hit a backstabbed, and eliminate Son of Havoc. #11 is Johnny Mundo! We go to a commercial break, but come back with Pentagon and Mundo (to my knowledge the only two left) brawling. #12 is … no one entered! WAIT JUST A MINUTE IT’S RICKY MUNDO! Mundo has an old doll with him, and is bringing an eerie prescence with him. Both men beat down Pentagon, as Ricky Mundo seems distracted by this doll. Johnny tries to get him back into the match, BUT RICKY MUNDO ROLLS UP JOHNNY! Johnny kicked out, and then eliminates Ricky Mundo. #13 is Fenix! Pentagon and Fènix go at it, as Mundo re-enters the ring. Fènix hits a MEGA dive to the outside onto both men. #14 is Jeremiah Crane! Crane goes under the ring and grabs a chair. Crane drops Fenix onto the chair, but he kicks out. #15 is Mil Muertes! Crane blows a kiss to Catrina, as Crane then brawls with Muertes. Muertes then takes out everyone! Everyone gets back up and they take down Muertes. Fènix finishes the job, as Mil Muertes is eliminated! Catrina is MAD, and walks off. #16 is Daga, escorted by Kobra Moon. After a short exchange with Johnny Mundo, #17 is CHAVO GUERRERO JR! Crane sets his sights on Chavo, but turns around and meets Pentagon, who eliminates Crane! Chavo then brawls with Fènix, and quickly eliminates Fènix! Johnny hits the End of the World, and eliminates Daga. #18 is King Cuerno. Matt Striker gives us an update on the competitors still involved, as King Cuerno stands alone in the ring. #19 is Dragon Azteca Jr. Azteca goes to town, taking out Mundo, and then Pentagon. Kobra Moon makes her way back out to the ring, and brings Vibora out to the ring, assaulting Johnng Mundo. Finally, #20 is Marty “The Moth” Martinez! Marty quickly pins, and eliminates Johnny Mundo! We take a commercial break, and only a few men remain. Back from the break, lots of brawling on the outside. Chavo uses a chair on Dragon Azteca, but King Cuerno finishes the job, and eliminates Dragon Azteca. We are down to the final 4. Cuerno has Pentagon up to finish the champion, but Chavo interrupts, and hits a Gory Bomb, eliminating King Cuerno! Pentagon and Chavo brawl, as Pentagon hits a superkick, eliminating Chavo! Down to the final 2, Pentagon and Marty! Marty hits a CURB STOMP! Pentagon kicks out, after a close 2 count. Pentagon hits a lung-blower, but Marty kicks out after 2. Marty hits a huge Double Underhook DDT, but Pentagon AGAIN again out! Pentagon hits a huge Superkick, followed by a Canadian Destroyer, and Package Piledriver, eliminating Marty The Moth!

Winner: Pentagon Dark

Match Rating: ***1/2

After the match, Pentagon grabs Marty’s arm, AND BREAKS IT! Antonio Cueto then congratulates Pentagon, but tells him that next week, Pentagon will face his “only son”, MATANZA CUETO!

Final Thoughts:

Lucha Underground is back, and it’s been far too long since I’ve said that. Tonight was a solid one match show, a bit risky to run in your big return. We had the introduction of Antonio Cueto, who we now know is the father of Dario Cueto. The new temple looked nice, a bit different than the first. Besides the ring ropes, and maybe less room at rinside, there wasn’t a whole lot of noticeable change. As for Aztec Warfare, it introduced some new talent like Mr. Pectacular and Tommy Dreamer, as well as re-visited rivalries like Crane/Muertes. Like most Aztec Warfare’s, it was a fun match, and got the job done. Pentagon was the first to ever successfully retain his belt in Aztec Warfare, but it’s obvious that his biggest challenge is going to be Antonio Cueto. A big title match was set for next week, which is a rematch from Ultima Lucha Dos. Overall, a solid show, and great re-introduction to the promotion.

Show Rating: 7.4/10
