Catrina is in King Cuerno’s room, and she is trying to find the gauntlet (which Cuerno stole from Mil Muertes at Ultima Lucha Tres). Cuerno says he gave it to someone, but he doesn’t know when or where they hid it. He could care less if Catrina gets it back, Catrina then disappears.

Matt Striker and Vampiro welcome us to the show, and recap Pentagon retaining the title in Aztec Warfare last week. They then send it to Melissa for our Trios Championship match.

Trios Championship: The Mack, Killshot, and Son of Havoc (c) vs. Infamous Inc. w/Famous B and Beautiful Brenda

Originally, the champions were supposed to face Texano, Dr. Wagner Jr., and Famous B, but Famous B tells Melissa that she doesn’t have the inside scoops. Infamous Inc. are here to win gold, however Texano and Dr. Wagner are down in Mexico, making Famous B some money! Famous B has three new clients, and they are Big Bad Steve, Sammy Guevara, and “The Savage” Jake Strong. Overall, this was a really fun trios match, with a tainted ending that will give us some moving parts going forward. Sammy got to shine, showing off some of his great high flying abilities, while Jake was an absolute beast, especially with the post match antics. They introduced Son of Havoc into the Trios Title mix last week, so it seemed too early to take the belts off of them. When it came down to it, Jake Strong had Killshot tapping in the middle of the ring, but Famous B was distracting the referee, and accidentally costed his team the win. This was a very fun opener, given its limited time.

Winners: The Mack, Killshot, and Son of Havoc

Match Rating: ***

After the match, Jake Strong lost it and attacked everyone. He tossed Sammy out of the ring with ease, took out Big Bad Steve, and then locked Famous B into the ankle lock. Strong is looking like an absolute beast out of the gate, and it’ll be interesting to see where he fits in this season.

Antonio Cueto makes his way to ringside, and mentions The Gift of the Gods. The process to crown a new Gift of the Gods Champion will begin RIGHT NOW!

For an Aztec Medallion: Drago w/Kobra Moon vs. El Dragon Azteca Jr.

While this was a solid match, I felt like it was a bit disappointing, knowing the two involved. El Dragon Azteca gets off to a hot start this season, while Drago takes yet another L. Ever since Season 1, it seems like Drago has been seen of an afterthought while in the Reptile Tribe. There were some good exchanges in here, but the crowd never really got into the near falls. Overall, it wasn’t bad, just a let down. Drago is capable of so much more, if you’ve ever seen his match with Puma in Season 1, or his five match series with Aerostar.

Winner: El Dragon Azteca Jr.

Match Rating: **1/2

After the match, Johnny Mundo and Taya come down to the ring and beat down Drago and Kobra Moon. This is the continuation of our new feud, after Vibora took out Mundo last week.

Antonio Cueto is in his office (we’ll see if it’s anything as chaotic as Dario’s office in the past). He’s confronted by Catrina, who wants Fenix in a coffin… She wants Mil vs. Fenix in Grave Consequences, NEXT WEEK. Catrina will be free next week, once Fenix’s spirit is with her. Antonio confirms the match, as Catrina disappears.

Lucha Underground Championship: Pentagon Dark (c) vs. Matanza Cueto

Things started off hot, brawling in the crowd and all over the temple. Sadly, the match slowed down, but still had some good action inside the ring. This seemed like a big waste of a return for Matanza, dropping a ten minute match to Pentagon, where there was never any real drama of Matanza winning. Sure, it took two Mexican Destroyers and a Package Piledriver to put him away, but this was Matanza’s first singles loss. There wasn’t enough build or story to make it important, dropping two seasons of build. Anyways, it was a solid match to close the show, just topping the opener.

Winner: Pentagon Dark

Match Rating: ***

After the match, Pentagon goes to break Matanza’s arm, however Antonio Cueto comes out with the key, and Matanza retreats. Antonio slaps Matanza, and says that Dario spoiled him.

Jeremiah Crane interrupts Antonio Cueto in his office. He wants to put Fenix in that coffin, and then take out Muertes in the process, getting Catrina for himself. Cueto asks Crane if he’s really willing to put his life on the line for a woman, and Crane easily agrees. Next week, it will be a THREE WAY GRAVE CONSEQUENCES!

Final Thoughts:

Lucha Underground is back to its three match formula, with a lot of storyline progression. It feels good to be back. A huge three way casket match was announced for next week, which will feature Mil Muertes against Fenix and Jeremiah Crane. The opener was great, introducing us three new talents, and letting Son of Havoc have a match with his new partners. El Dragon Azteca won a medallion, while the Mundo/Moon storyline progressed. Finally, Pentagon got a huge win over Matanza, and retains his title for the second week in a row. There’s no set challenger for Pentagon next, so it will be interesting to see who Cueto throws at him. Overall, not a great week in ring wise, but a ton was accomplished, and this was very easy to sit through. Typical Lucha Underground!

Final Rating: 7.2/10
