Dynamite Cup 2018 Tournament Results

Saturday, June 23 – Lafayette, IN – Greater Lafayette YWCA Gym

In front of a crowd of around 200 fans, helping us raise $2,117 for Together We Rise (bringing our absolute total to $5,229 since beginning last year…

1) “True ’til Death” KEVIN KU defeated DANNY ADAMS in a wild opening bout, advancing to the Dynamite Cup Ultimate Match of Survival later in the evening.

2) ANGELUS LAYNE bested DANHAUSEN, advancing to the Dynamite Cup Ultimate Match of Survival later in the evening.

3) In a knock-down, drag-down brawl that brought the crowd to their feet, MANCE WARNER defeated “Warhorse” JAKE PARNELL, advancing to the Dynamite Cup Ultimate Match of Survival later in the evening.

4) JOHNATHAN WOLF won the annual “Lord of the Flyers” four-way contest, stealing the win after CALVIN TANKMAN had CHASE OLIVER defeated. Along with PAT MONIX, all four wrestlers wow’d the audience with extremely creative and death-defying offense. With his win, WOLF advanced to the Dynamite Cup Ultimate Match of Survival later in the evening.

5) Making an impactful Midwest debut, “The Ace of the Mid-Atlantic” ARIK ROYAL dominated “The Freshest Prince” PERCY DAVIS in just under four minutes, advancing to the Dynamite Cup Ultimate Match of Survival later in the evening.

6) In a rematch of last year’s show-stealer, The Hysteria of COLE RADRICK & SAGE PHILIPS defeated The Carnies of NICK IGGY & KERRY AWFUL, topping their incredible effort from last year. Philips scored the winning fall with his patented Octopus submission hold, thus advancing to the Dynamite Cup Ultimate Match of Survival later in the evening.

7) In the upset of the century, SHORT GHOST (who unmasked as Nolie’s six-year-old big brother ERIC) won the 2018 Nolie Rumble – capturing the coveted one pound of cookie cake. SHORT GHOST never entered the ring, choosing to haunt competitors after they were eliminated. After the LUCHA HOUSE CARNIES of KERR-ISTO and GRIN METALIK (who unmasked as Nick Iggy & Kerry Awful of The Carnies) eliminated all mortal opponents, Short Ghost scared them over the top rope and to the floor.

After the match, THE CARNIES apologized to 4-year-old booker NOLIE (sitting in on commentary in the balcony) for being bad guys. They were rewarded with cookies.

8) SAGE PHILIPS became your 2018 Dynamite Cup Winner after defeating ARIK ROYAL in arguably the best action ever seen on a Dynamite Cup event in the closing minutes of the bout. Earlier in the match, ANGELUS LAYNE eliminated JOHNATHAN WOLF before ROYAL single-handedly eliminated LAYNE, KEVIN KU, and MANCE WARNER.

After the bout, the entire locker room emptied as Dynamite Cup namesake/School of Roc patriarch/Philips’ trainer BILLY ROC entered the ring to let Sage know how proud he was of Sage’s growth as a wrestler and a man. The evening ended with Philips celebrating mid-ring to a standing ovation from his peers and fans.

The 2018 Dynamite Cup event was shot by SWERVE VIDEO with multiple cameras and commentary from MARK MAXWELL, STERLING RICHARDS, and NOLIE. The full event will be released in its entirety in the coming weeks on YouTube for free.
