Johnny and the Worldwide Underground are prepared backstage for the big wedding. Jack Evans also plans on defeating XO Lishus later tonight. PJ Black says they have a surprise for Johnny… JOEY WRESTLING (Mercury). In the process, Ricky is demoted for the wedding as Mundo rips on his doll. They all play air guitar, but cut off Ricky. The doll asks if he plans on keeping the vows…

Matt Striker and Vampiro welcome us to the show. The temple is usually about violence, but tonight it’s about love. In tonight’s main event we’ll see Jack Evans and XO Lishus finish their feud in a NO MAS match. Famous B is still on ring announcing duties.

Jake Strong vs. Drago

This was a longer match for Jake Strong, and it felt it. While there was nothing bad, Strong is really slow, and he doesn’t fit into Lucha Underground, but I fear this push will continue. This was only a 5 minute match, but felt much longer. The crowd is behind Strong, and the mini feud with Drago and Aerostar will continue here. Not a good outing for Strong, and the opposite of what I wanted from him here in LU.

Winner: Jake Strong

Match Rating: **

After the match, Strong keeps the ankle lock applied on Drago, but Aerostar comes out to make the save.

No Mas Match: Jack Evans vs. XO Lishus

This was bland, lifeless, and a terrible use of a No Mas Match. The feud between Jack Evans and XO Lishus has just been there… And it wasn’t that interesting of a storyline to begin with. Jack Evans was mad that he lost to XO, and XO called Jack a bully. That’s it. As for this match, they brawled on the floor for a bit too long, Jack dove off a ladder, they exchanged submissions for what felt like FOREVER in the ring, and the overbooked ending didn’t help things either. They brought in Ivelisse and Joey Ryan, who were featured in the tag match a few weeks back. This was a stupid use of a No Mas match, and they didn’t even advertise it ahead of time. Let’s move on.

Winner: XO Lishus

Match Rating: DUD

Jack Evans is crawling in the back, as Mundo tells him to put on his tux. PJ mentions that Jack won’t be attending, as Ricky asks to be apart of the wedding. Mundo gets all mad, and asks Ricky to just do what he tells him to. He then calls Joey and PJ his best friends as they play guitar, leaving Ricky left out yet again. The doll says it’s time for Ricky to do the job she asks him to do… Ricky heel turn incoming!

Everyone makes their way out to the ring for the ceremony, but first we need a commercial break. Ricky Munod is still roaming around in the back, and the doll calls him a coward, and tells him to do it. Ricky breaks open the lock of… MATANZA CUETO!

Johnny Mundo and Taya GET MARRIED!

Famous B asks if anyone objects the marriage, but Antonio Cueto comes out. He says he isn’t against the marriage, but before they make it official, he wants to give them a gift. He asks for the bell to be rang… And they bring out TACOS! Antonio says congratulations as he walks back to his office. They each share vows (Taya’s were better), both say “I do”, and Famous B asks for the rings to be brought out. Ricky brings them out, but then Johnny asks him to leave the ring, as his job is finished. As Famous B finalizes things up… MATANZA ARRIVES! The wedding is ruined, as Matanza takes out everyone, LITERALLY EVERYONE! Matanza tosses PJ and Johnny through a table, as Ricky happily watches on. Taya then brings the fight to Matanza, only to take a Tour of the Islands. Matanza isn’t done there, as he throws Taya into the wedding cake!

Final Thoughts:

Not a great episode this week, probably the weakest of the season. The first two matches were absolutely nothing, but a great wedding saved the episode. Jake Strong is just there, and while I had high hopes at first, those have quickly dwindled away. Aerostar and Drago are thankfully back together, but a feud with Jake Strong isn’t exactly what’s best. There were no good backstage segments that tied into other storylines, as it was all about the wedding. We moved onto a poor No Mas match, which totally wasn’t needed, and could’ve easily been some other type of gimmick match. If you want to see a GREAT No Mas match, go and watch Sexy Star vs. Mariposa, don’t ever check this one out. Then we had the wedding, which was great in itself. Matanza is back, and a feud with Mundo is likely, which I’m all for. Everything about the wedding was great, and it totally saved this episode from being TERRIBLE. Let’s see how they rebound next week.

Final Rating: 5.0/10
