Matt Striker and Vampiro welcome us to the show. Tonight features two title matches, with Dragon Azteca Jr. defending against Marty the Moth, and Pentagon defending against King Cuerno and Mil Muertes. But first we have Fenix in action!

Fenix vs. Aerostar

Fenix’s new attitude is in full effect, and he’s rocking it perfectly so far. This was a logical first match for Fenix as a heel, and it was done perfectly. Aerostar looked great, and wouldn’t go down without a fight. Fenix is usually never a heel, so it’s great to see this side of him. You can feel the tension between Fenix and Melissa, and it’s obvious that Fenix no longer cares about the believers, or his former friends. Good back and forth match here before Fenix picked up the win.

Winner: Fenix

Match Rating: ***

Melissa tells Fenix that this isn’t the real Fenix, and he needs to go get help. She begs him, but Fenix slides to the outside, grabs Melissa, but Dragon Azteca comes out to make the save again. Fenix gets a crazy look on his face AND ATTACKS DRAGON AZTECA! He lays Azteca out right infront of Melissa before walking out to the dismay of the crowd. Please have Fenix take the belt off Azteca so we get HEEL FENIX VS. PENTAGON AT ULTIMA LUCHA!

Antonio Cueto sees that Dragon Azteca is in no shape to compete, so he’ll call his upcoming match a forfeit and give Marty the title. Dragon tells Antonio that he’s willing to fight, so Antonio demands for the match to be started!

Gift of the Gods Championship: Dragon Azteca Jr. (c) vs. Marty “The Moth” Martinez

This was a solid match, with the main goal being to crown a new champion. Marty took advantage of the injured Dragon Azteca, and beat him down for a good portion of the match. Dragon Azteca eventually came back, hit the huge DDT, but Marty kicked out and was able to finish the job. Nothing too special, but a solid match with a relatively flat finish. It’s a shame to see Dragon Azteca’s reign come to an end, because it was probably the best Gift of the Gods Championship reigns to date. We’ll see what’s next for Marty as GOTG Champion, as it wasn’t something I expected.

Winner: Marty “The Moth” Martinez

Match Rating: **1/2

Kevin Kross is back with Paul London, and London mentions the fact that he sacrificed Mala Suerte and Saltador for Kross. Kross has Mascarita locked up, and he says it’s time for Paul London to show them the way to the Temple. London creepily says yes, TIME TO UNLEASH THE WHITE RABBIT!

Lucha Underground Championship: Pentagon Dark (c) vs. King Cuerno vs. Mil Muertes

Coming in I totally expected Pentagon to retain, but this was a short match, with no good near falls, and really no drama to build up the challengers. Some weeks it just feels like LU doesn’t give these main events enough time to succeed. With the talent involved, this should’ve been awesome, but it turned out to be average. Honestly it feels like a waste of a title opportunity for Mil and Cuerno, but we’ll see what the future holds for those two moving forward. The post match angle here was well done, and was really the main goal of this to begin.

Winner: Pentagon Dark

Match Rating: **1/2

After the match, Marty “The Moth” Martinez came out and attacked Pentagon Dark. He lays out Dark, and that brings Antonio Cueto out. He says it’s his temple now, so he is changing things up. After some convincing from Marty last week, Antonio says the Gift of the Gods can be cashed in ANYTIME! Marty is cashing in NOW!

Lucha Underground Championship: Pentagon Dark (c) vs. Marty “The Moth” Martinez

To best sum up what happened here: “In one night, everything has changed”. Ladies and gentleman, MARTY THE MOTH IS THE NEW LUCHA UNDERGROUND CHAMPION! Pentagon was being built up this entire season as the unstoppable champion, but he lost his title pretty much the same way Dragon Azteca lost before. Pentagon was beaten down, and due to some corruption from Antonio and Marty, Marty was able to cash in immediately. Pentagon was about to retain after the Mexican Destroyer, but Marty rolled to the outside to distract the referee before Chelsea Green came out and hit a low blow on Pentagon! CHELSEA GREEN IS WITH MARTY?! So many more questions coming out of this week, but we know for a fact that Marty “The Moth” Martinez is our new Lucha Underground Champion…

Winner: Marty “The Moth” Martinez

Match Rating: NR

Final Thoughts:

Before I get into things, people need to realize how good Melissa Santos is. She’s more than a ring announcer, and adds a ton to the show. With her despise for Marty the Moth, to the hesitation when announcing Fenix, she’s honestly great. That aside, Matt Striker summed it up best, that being everything has changed this week. Marty the Moth won the Gift of the Gods Championship, and we now know what the second thing was that he wanted last week. Due to paying off Antonio Cueto, Marty the Moth was able to immediately cash in his newly won Gift of the Gods Championship, and due to the actions of CHELSEA GREEN, Marty is the new Lucha Underground Champion. Not a ton of great in-ring action this week, but tons of angles were advanced, and we have a brand new Lucha Underground Champion.

Final Rating: 6.5/10
