Matt Striker and Vampiro welcome us to the show, and Striker has a letter from Antonio Cueto. He reads the letter, and it mentions Dragon Azteca Jr., Mil Muertes, King Cuerno, and Pentagon Dark all losing their hopes of main eventing Ultima Lucha Cuatro. All of these men have a legitimate claim of being #1 contender, so tonight we’ll have a Fatal Four Way #1 Contender’s match, where the winner faces Marty the Moth at ULTIMA LUCHA CUATRO!

Jack Evans takes the mic before his match, he mocks the crowd, and he says he won’t compete in a promotion that has XO Lishus in it, and he still has to worry about Johnny Mundo. Jack Evans may have said “No Mas” a few weeks ago, so now he says I Quit! Antonio Cueto has something to say about this, and tells Jack he WILL fight tonight. If Jack Evans wins, he can walk out the door, but if he loses, he will never walk out again… Because he is the next Sacrifice to the Gods! Jack Evans tries to plead with Antonio, but he stops and runs out of the ring. He goes up the stairs to the elevator doors, but is met with Matanza!

Sacrifice to the Gods: Matanza Cueto vs. Jack Evans

After some brawling on the outside, Jack hit Matanza’s face against the exposed turnbuckle pad, hit a spinning springboard kick, and a huge 630, but Matanza picked him back up with ease to make Jack the next sacrifice. I’m not too sure why you sacrifice Jack Evans here, but it makes sense to continue the issues between Matanza and the Worldwide Underground. I’d assume we get a Matanza/Mundo match at Ultima Lucha Cuatro, but we’ll have to see.

Winner: Matanza Cueto

Match Rating: NR

Paul London is out before our Trios Championship match, and says the time has come. He introduces El Bunny, along with The White Rabbit!

Trios Championship: Reptile Tribe (c) vs. Ivelisse, Joey Ryan, and XO Lishus

When the new and improved Rabbit Tribe came out, I expected this to be changed into a three way. However we got the unpredictable trio of Ivelisse, Joey, and XO getting their Trios Title match. This was good fun while it lasted, Joey got a lot in, and the challengers were in control a good part of the match. A title changed seemed far-fetched, but this was still a good, fun trios match, that likely sets up our next challengers. I’d be down for Ivelisse, Joey, and XO to continue to be a Trio on a regular basis.

Winners: The Reptile Tribe

Match Rating: **3/4

After the match, London and Bunny make their way down to the ring and attack XO, Joey, and Ivelisse. Killer Kross stands on the stairs and watches, shouting “Tick Tock”. Remember when the Rabbit Tribe used to be loved by everyone?!

Handicap Nun-Chucks Match: Aerostar and Drago vs. Jake Strong

The live crowd absolutely loved this, but to me, it was a DUD. First of all, why are we having a non-advertised gimmick match in the middle of the show? Doesn’t make much sense, as this is a match you should hype up a week or two ahead of time. Jake Strong was… The same Jake Hager I’ve seen on the independents. He’s slow, does the same few moves, and takes away from matches. Aerostar did a huge dive, and he, along with Drago hit everything on Strong, only for Strong to make them look like losers and tap out Aerostar, in one of the most flat finishes ever. He literally no sold ALL of the Nun-Chuck shots, it was insane. I see no reason in pushing Jake Strong, but here we are…

Winner: Jake Strong

Match Rating: DUD

After the match, Aerostar continued to tap while Jake Strong kept the hold locked in. Drago broke things up, only to get his ankle broken (you definitely need to hear the sound effect they used for this one).

Next week, Marty the Moth will be at the Temple to address his Ultima Lucha opponent.

#1 Contender’s Match: King Cuerno vs. Mil Muertes vs. Dragon Azteca Jr. vs. Pentagon Dark

This was a fine four way, but absolutely nothing great like the four involved could pull off. They didn’t get a ton of time to work, and it was filled with a few interferences to keep feuds going. Take out the stupid Nun-Chucks match, and we could’ve added a good 7-8 minutes onto this one. All of the interference made sense, with Fenix coming after Melissa, only for Dragon Azteca to hit a huge Tope Suicida onto Fenix. The Mack then returned from the dead to attack The Mack, and issued a huge challenge after the match. They went the easy route here, with Pentagon picking up the win and getting his rematch. King Cuerno was the odd man out here, with really no feud or anything to do going forward.

Winner: Pentagon Dark

Match Rating: **1/2

After the match, The Mack challenges Mil Muertes to a DEATH MATCH at Ultima Lucha Cuatro!

Final Thoughts:

This wasn’t a great episode of Lucha Underground, but it was solid and accomplished quite a bit. We kicked things off with another sacrifice, and it’s our first death in weeks (there have been plenty of deaths this season). Next we had the Trios division showcased, and the new trio of XO, Ivelisse, and Joey took a big L in their debut, but it was all about introducing the new Rabbit Tribe, which have to be the next challengers. In a completely flat and unneeded match, Jake Strong continued to be dominant, as he completely no-sold anything and everything Drago and Aerostar did in their “Nun-Chucks Match”. The main event is something that had potential to be an absolute banger, but instead was short, and overbooked. I didn’t have a problem with it though, as we pretty much have three matches set up for Ultima Lucha, those being Fenix/Azteca, Mil/Mack, and Pentagon/Marty. The quality of wrestling wasn’t too great this week, but lots happened as we set our sights onto the next Ultima Lucha.

Final Rating: 6.2/10
