Matt Striker and Vampiro welcome us to the show, and we have a double main event, with both matches having Ultima Lucha implications. Also, Taya is back in the Temple!

Taya is in the ring, and calls out Antonio Cueto. Cueto sees that Taya is all healed up, but Taya is the Wera Loca, and she’s here to fight! Tonight, Taya wants to get revenge on her two friends that were sacrificed, and she DEMANDS a match with Matanza! Antonio Cueto makes it official…

Sacrifice to the Gods: Matanza Cueto vs. Taya

This match makes a lot of sense, as it seemingly continues the Matanza/Johnny feud before Johnny makes his return. Taya held her own here, and looked really good, almost winning with the moonsault, and the crowd was really behind her. Matanza didn’t stay down, and kept fighting back, but as soon as he was about to win, Johnny Mundo returned! The match ended in a DQ, and that was that. No deaths here tonight!

Winner: Matanza via DQ

Match Rating: NR

Johnny Mundo and Matanza brawl after the match, but Matanza gets up almost immediately after Mundo hits the End of the World. After the break, they confirm Mundo vs. Matanza in a Sacrifice to the Gods match at Ultima Lucah. They also run down the rest of the card.

Tornado Tag: The Mack and Dragon Azteca Jr. vs. Mil Muertes and Fenix

The thought of Muertes and Fenix teaming together is quite insane, knowing their history here in Lucha Underground. Anyways, this was your typical “Road To” style tag team match, but this one was definitely kicked up a notch, and the tornado rules made it absolutely awesome. All four killed it, and there wasn’t anything disappointing about it. Fenix and Muertes were unstoppable together, and the finish where they both hit their finishers together was quite the sight. Great stuff, as the heels pick up the win.

Winners: Mil Muertes and Fenix

Match Rating: ***3/4

Famous B is in the ring with the Beautiful Brenda, and says he’s all healed up, and has signed an exclusive deal with… HIMSELF! He’s ready to return to the ring, and that brings out Ricky Mundo with his doll.

Ricky Mundo w/His Creepy Doll vs. Famous B w/The Beautiful Brenda

Not much of a match here, just a squash for Ricky Mundo who had to reveal the big news. Famous B is still the biggest jobber in Lucha Underground, which is a shame because he’s a ton of fun. Mundo was totally insane, and it fits his character perfectly.

Winner: Ricky Mundo

Match Rating: NR

Ricky Mundo says it’s a shame that Johnny and Taya already left the building, because he reveals that HE RELEASED MATANZA six weeks ago during their wedding! Ricky then challenges Taya for Ultima Lucha, which is definitely interesting, and something I didn’t see coming. Ricky then further proves his insanity, as he beats up The Beautiful Brenda, then makes out with his doll.

Reklusa vs. Pentagon Dark

If there’s a great way to debut someone in the ring, it’s this. Reklusa looked absolutely awesome, showed great fire, was confident (ultimately too confident in the end), and held her own against the former Lucha Underground Champion. Pentagon Dark needed to pull out more than he expected, which could be a sign of things to come when he faces Marty. The crowd was extremely hot for this, especially the closing stretch, which was awesome. Maybe Reklusa kicked out of a bit too much, but at the end of the day it doesn’t matter, this was great.

Winner: Pentagon Dark

Match Rating: ***3/4

Pentagon is about to break the arm of Reklusa, but he stops and goes to the outside, and grabs some thumbtacks! He pours them in the ring, but before he can throw Reklusa into them, Marty the Moth is out with a Barbed Wire Bat to make the save. Reklusa then grabs some gasoline from under the ring, pours it all over Pentagon, and then Marty has a lighter, threatening to light Pentagon on fire. Talk about a throwback!

Final Thoughts:

When Lucha Underground is on, IT’S ON! This was another great episode, as the build to Ultima Lucha is as great as it’s ever been before. We confirmed two more matches to the card, those being Johnny Mundo vs. Matanza, and Ricky Mundo vs. Taya. I’m not quite sure what else they’ll add to the card, but it’s an absolutely phenomenal looking show, and I cannot wait. In other news from this episode, we had two great matches, and the double main event delivered as advertised. The callback to Season 1 where Pentagon was going to light Vampiro on fire was used, and only Marty could pull something like that off. Awesome episode this week.

Final Rating: 7.8/10
