Per a report from PWInsider and several other outlets, it appears as if a tiered subscription service will finally be a part of the WWE Network. Here is an excerpt and the details:

The plan is to debut the first tier, a free version that will feature programming that is free for all to stream in several months.

Several months after that, the Network will debut a “VIP” tier that will feature, as WWE disclosed, “additional programming similar to the EVOLVE 10th anniversary celebration that WWE Network streamed earlier this month.”

Pricing for the VIP tier was not revealed but today’s disclosure means independent wrestling, which WWE has long toyed with adding to the Network in some form, likely affiliated promotions such as PROGRESS, ICW and EVOLVE. Where the company goes from there remains to be seen, but EVOLVE sister promotions such as SHINE and FIP have to be considered.

It’s entirely possible this is the first step towards WWE moving towards using their streaming Network as a destination for other pro wrestling content, similar to how UFC Fightpass distributes MMA events from other, smaller companies.

How this rolls out remains to be seen and while the term will likely not be used in marketing, independent wrestling is coming to the WWE Network in the months ahead.

Would you get the WWE Network if it had more indie wrestling on it? Do you already subscribe? Let us know in the comments!
