AAW: The Jim Lynam Memorial Tournament 2019 – Night 1 – Chicago, IL Report by Jeremy Boone
Attendance: 500
Note: Very strong card from top to bottom with a hot crowd all night! Definitely a strong opening for Night 1 with some great matches to come into play on night 2! The night had some great moments and new debuts!

First Round Match
Laredo Kid def. Ace Austin
– Very impressive top rope reverse spanish fly. A fast paced opener to get the crowd started.

First Round Match
Curt Stallion def. Joey Lynch
– Hard hitting match between these two. Don’t sleep on either of these guys. During this match, Mance Warner shows up with his ticket and starts drinking light beers with fans at the bar–although he was forced to leave AAW after losing to Jimmy Jacobs months ago.

First Round Match
Eddie Kingston def Jimmy Jacobs
-During the middle of the match, Mance Warner calls out Jimmy Jacobs and the two begin to brawl in the crowd until Mance Warner is taken out of the venue by security. Eddie capitalizes on the distracted Jimmy Jacobs.

First Round Match
Myron Reed def. Trey Miguel
-A high flying spectacle. These two gel very well together.

First Round Match
Josh Alexander def. Jake Something
-Both of these men put on a show as these are two of the best in the company. Jake had an impressive suicide dive into the crowd for his size. It was an upset that almost went to a time limit draw when Josh Alexander rolled up the current AAW Heritage Champion Jake Something and got the pin (non-title match)

Armando Alejandro Estrada came out and announced to the crowd that Fatu was unable to make the tournament and will be disqualified as a competitor due to having to pull off due to family issues. Sami Callihan & JT Davidson come out hot on the heels of the last show in Milwaukee. Sami declared that he didn’t have a proper match, so why doesn’t he go one on one with Estrada? Estrada instead offers Sami to have a match with a new young wrestler that just made his AAW debut last month in Milwaukee who happens to enjoy him some light beers…. Good Brother #3. (Good Brother #3 looks like Mance Warner doing his best Chainsaw Charlie with a lucha mask… but OBVIOUSLY it is not Mance Warner who was forced to leave AAW….. obviously)

Non-Title Match
Sami Callihan def. Good Brother #3
-These two had a crazy brawl that included kendo sticks, chairs and even a giant cardboard box. Mid match, Jimmy Jacobs come out and attacks Good Brother #3. Jimmy believes it is Mance Warner, but obviously it is not. Obviously. Post match, Good Brother #3 demands light beers from the crowd and starts rounding them up. Somebody threw an open beer from several rows back and Mance–errrr—Good Brother #3 caught it one handed with ease. Crazy.

First Round Match
PACO def Jake Atlas
-With Fatu out, PACO was inserted as a last minute entrant into the Jim Lynam Tournament. These two killed it out there with PACO getting the win.

First Round Match
Ace Romero def. Willie Mack
This is Mack’s AAW debut. These two big men went at it and the crowd had a standing ovation once Acey Baby won the match. Mack used his strength to bodyslam Ace Romero which got the crowd on fire. The crowd chanted for Mack to come back.

First Round Match
Colt Cabana def Maxwell Jacob Friedman
MJF comes out and admits that Colt Cabana may be his father, but doesn’t understand why everybody cheers for him when he has been a terrible, absent father all his life. He suggests that they add the stipulation if Colt loses, then he finally gets the weekly allowance he should have gotten as a child. Colt says that if he wins, then MJF will be grounded from AAW forever. MJF approves. Colt wins forcing MJF to leave AAW forever. Quick, fun match leading to Colt getting the pinfall.

-Post match, Colt looks sad in the ring, only to have MJF come back out to “Father of Mine” by Everclear. The two finally hug it out and all of a sudden a flight announcement appears over the intercom saying the gate for AEW is taking its final call. MJF tries to grab Colt’s hand hoping his “dad” comes with him, but Colt said that MJF needs to take this journey alone. They make a final curtain call together, only for MJF trying to kick Colt between the legs–to be blocked by Colt. MJF leaves to a standing ovation only to be humiliated once again by Colt Cabana on the way out the door.

AAW Tag Team Championship Match
The Besties in the World (Davey Vega & Mat Fitchett) vs. LAX (Ortiz & Santana)
-As the teams face off, Pentagon & Fenix’s music hits and the Lucha Brothers come out to the ring and face them down, saying that they deserve to be in this match as being one of the best tag teams in the universe. So…

Triple Threat Elimination AAW Tag Team Championship Match
The Besties in the World def. LAX & The Lucha Brothers
-Fun tag match between all three teams. LAX first eliminated the Lucha Brothers much quicker than you would expect, which led to the surprise of the fans in attendance. The Besties overcome LAX and score the pinfall to once again become the new AAW Tag Team Champions!

-Post Match, Scarlett Bordeaux comes out from the back while Davey Vega & Mat Fitchett embrace eachother with a hug. Davey sees Scarlett and pushes Mat Fitchett off to the side to once again embrace Scarlett with a hug and celebrate his new title with her. Mat wanted none of it again due to the history of Scarlett being involved with the Besties and left to the back (she cost them the championship last time due to Vega’s preference to choose Scarlett over Fitchett).

As Vega and Scarlett celebrated, the lights dimmed and out came the debuting Killer Kross! Vega faced off with him, only for Scarlett to double cross Vega and push him into the arms of Kross and get destroyed. Mat Fitchett ran out from the back to help out his partner, only for Kross to level out Mat Fitchett leaving both of the Besties in the World laid out in the ring with Killer Kross standing tall with Scarlett in his hands. The show ends as we see them standing tall kissing in the ring showing that Kross has arrived.
