Cody Def. Ortiz

Highlights:

  • One of the dumber cliches in wrestling is when a wrestler forgets their in a match and loses because another wrestler shows up outside the ring. Thankfully this match doesn’t end when Lance Archer shows up.
  • The suplex from the top rope is probably the move of the match.
  • Having the match end with a submission instead of with the Cross Rhodes. It’s good to see matches end without a finishing move.

Low Points:

  • Some of Ortiz’s moves looked weak or don’t seem like they’d do anything at all.
  • In another case of face’s being dumb, it takes multiple instances of cheating before Brandi steps in.
  • How many times is an Inner circle match going to end with a post-match assault?
  • So the sun is out when they take Nick to the ambulance but the show starts at night? Boy, I really hope somebody got fired for that.

Bea Priestly, Nyla Rose DEF. Kris Statlander, Hikaru Shida

Highlights:

  • One of the good things about the AEW women’s division is you never know who will show up. Seeing Bea Priestley again is a nice surprise.
  • Kris Statlander’s Oklahoma roll continues her tradition of obscure moves with comic effect.
  • Amazing standing head scissors by Bea Priestly and Kris Statlander. A show of strength, balance, and coordination.
  • The Suplex leg drop Is a nice looking maneuver. I doubt it’s effectiveness but still looks nice.
  • Hikaru Shida lifting up Nyla Rose for a falcon arrow is an impressive show of strength.

Low Points:

  • Hikaru Shida and Kris Statlander had control over most of the match, they performed the most notable maneuvers and worked great as a team. Having it end with a spear and a powerbomb feels anticlimactic.

Christopher Daniels Challenges the Dark Order

Highlights:

  • The production value of this video is great. Feeling like a dark order video complete with stock footage and Christopher dressed like he joined adds to the feeling of authenticity.
  • Finally! we get someone calling out for the exalted one to show up and show their face.

Low Points:

  • This storyline should have wrapped up at revolution. Now it feels like it’s dragged on too long.

The Butcher and The Blade, MJF DEF. Jurassic Express

Highlights:

  • MJF’S entrance music sounds much better. Cutting out the horns section was a good choice because it sounded like he was entering the ring to robot farts.
  • Great bit of comedy when MJF realizes Luchasauraus is behind him.
  • Jurassic express’s comeback, agility, acrobatics, and high-risk maneuvers.

Low Points:

  • Aubrey Edwards being blind for a majority of the match. Followed by the same issues in the first match on this show AEW is starting to overuse “The ref is blind” and even when they’re caught it’s a count or reprimand.
  • Despite being one of the most popular trios Jurassic express has become fodder for heel’s.

Big Swole Calls out Britt Baker

Highlights:

  • Heel Britt Baker can be one of the most fun heel’s to watch. Constantly condescending and classic in her promos. And running away just makes her even better as a full out coward heel.
  • Wait did they just mention Adam Cole?

Low Points:

  • This whole thing feels like a bit from the Jerry Springer show.

Death Triangle DEF. Joey Janela, Private Party

Highlights:

  • Great opening back and forth by Isiah Cassidy and Pac.
  • This match is filled with great duo and trio moves. This is a match well worth watching because of it.
  • Joey Janela and Private Party are a great trio. If AEW does start a tag trio division they should be one of the teams.
  • Pentagon dragging Ray Fenix to the corner so he can make a tag. Why has no one else thought of this?
  • After watching heels win twice by using screwy tactics it’s nice to watch them win by outperforming their opponents.

Low Points:

  • Pentagon please stop biting people’s ears. I know that Mike Tyson did it but it just looks gross.

Jon Moxley sits down with JR.

Low Points:

  • So now it’s Jon Moxley feuding with Jake Hager? I get that Hager is supposed to be intimidating and has a legitimate background in MMA but in AEW he’s just been boring and has one of the worst looking finishers.

Adam Page and Dustin Rhodes DEF. Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara

Highlights:

  • Adam Page’s graphic reads “Hasn’t even talked to Dustin Rhodes today”
  • A little comedy from Jericho doing Adam Page’s drunken cowboy bit.
  • Wrestling wise this match was solid. A lot of back and forth in-ring and on the apron. A few top rope moves.
  • Dustin and Adam’s double use of the top turnbuckles is the highlight of the match.

Low Points:

  • Even Jr. is pointing out how every match with the Inner Circle is going to be screwy.
  • Can we have matches not end in a brawl for once? this seems to be something that AEW does way too often.
