On this evening’s edition of MLW Fusion, Tom Lawlor and Low Ki battled in the finals of the 2020 Opera Cup Tournament. Additionally, the lineup for the Kings of Colosseum event began to be further finalized. You can watch the latest episode of Fusion by clicking on the video below:
Strong Points of the Show
- Tonight’s cold open helped establish the importance of the Opera Cup final. The package effectively highlighted the importance of the Opera Cup and set the stage for Low Ki and Tom Lawlor’s match.
- Alexander Hammerstone cut a nice promo regarding his upcoming match against Mads Krugger. He simultaneously addressed Krugger and also reinforced his end goal of defeating Jacob Fatu for the MLW World Heavyweight Championship.
- Having the Von Erichs accompany Low Ki to the ring was a nice, subtle way to continue the feud between the Von Erichs and Team Filthy. Their presence was noticeable and yet did not overshadow Low Ki and Lawlor’s match
Weak Points of the Show
- The setup for Alicia Atout’s interview with Low Ki was a little weird. It felt odd that she walked around a corner to get to Low Ki while he was behind her the whole time.
- I’m not the biggest fan of the PWI top 10 ranking. At this point the rankings don’t seem to hold any sort of significance. There are also wrestlers on the list that haven’t wrestled in weeks which doesn’t seem entirely appropriate.
Match Results
- The Dirty Blondes (Leo Brien and Michael Patrick) defeated Ariel Dominguez and Daniel Starling.
- Tom Lawlor defeated Low Ki to win the 2020 Opera Cup Tournament.
