Tonight’s episode of Fusion featured TJP taking on his former protege Bu Ku Dao. Additionally, Gino Medina squared off with NJPW’s Rocky Romero. King Mo also appeared for the first time since losing to Low Ki at Tom Lawlor’s Filthy Island event. Footage from this evening’s episode can be viewed by watching the video below:

Strong Points of the Show

  • Seeing Rocky Romero compete tonight was really cool. Romero is a great wrestler, and he is fun to watch in the ring. Hopefully Rocky will continue to make appearances on Fusion going forward.
  • Robert Martyr did a great job of selling King Mo’s offense. I felt legitimate concern for him based on the way he reacted to King Mo’s moveset throughout the match.
  • The recent development between Salina de la Renta and El Jefe intrigues me. Typically Salina acts brashly and confidently. Seeing a humble side of her was different and a great way to advance the storyline. I’m curious to see what Salina will do next week to take advantage of the “opportunity” that was mentioned during her phone call.
  • Hearing about MLW’s return to Philadelphia is great news. Since November, MLW has done a good job of producing Fusion episodes with no live crowd. However, fans are an essential part of any show. As long as everyone can be safe, I hope that MLW’s first show back with fans is a huge success.
  • The ending of tonight’s main event was really well done. I was pleasantly surprised with how everything went down. Kudos to both Bu Ku Dao and TJP for a good match with a good finish.

Weak Points of the Show

  • I can understand why they are continuing the feud between King Mo and Low Ki. Especially considering the outcome of their last match. I do find it weird that it took two months for any follow up to happen. I’m sure the pandemic hasn’t helped things. But even a short, taped promo from Mo or Low Ki would have been nice. That way there wouldn’t have been two months since the storyline was featured.
  • Myron Reed’s promo fell a little flat for me. Reed repeated himself a few times and didn’t demonstrate the intensity I thought he may have when addressing Lio Rush and their rematch.
  • Alex Hammerstone’s press conference was heavily promoted for this week’s episode. However, Alex did not say anything new or important. He challenged Fatu to a championship match, which is the same exact thing he’s done since the first episode of The Restart. Overall, Hammerstone’s segment felt like a waste of time.

Match Results

  • Rocky Romero defeated Gino Medina via submission.
  • King Mo (with Dan Lambert) defeated Robert Martyr via submission.
  • Bu Ku Dao defeated TJP via pinfall.
