Myron Reed and Lio Rush collided for the World Middleweight Championship in the main event of tonight’s fusion. This match marked the first time that Rush and Reed have faced off against each other since January’s Kings of Colosseum event, when Lio won the World Middleweight Championship from Myron.

In addition to the World Middleweight Championship bout, Gringo Loco squared off with Laredo Kid. Richard Holliday was also in action as he took on Ariel Dominguez. To view these matches and the rest of Fusion, please watch the video posted below:

Strong Points of the Show

  • I am glad that Laredo Kid and Gringo Loco got to have a lengthy match tonight. Especially since both men haven’t been on Fusion lately.
  • The Open Draft concept is a really cool and unique concept for MLW to pursue during its off season. The thought of MLW having contact with various unnamed free agents leads me, as a fan, to feel suspense and excitement regarding who may be next to join the roster.
  • Alicia Atout and Richard Holliday’s dynamic intrigues me (mainly because I am a fan of both of them individually). It seems as if there is a sort of romantic tension that is being teased between the two of them. I’m curious to see how that progresses going forward.
  • Myron Reed and Lio Rush put on a great main event this evening. The near falls were well done, and both men conveyed a ton of emotion throughout the match. Rush and Reed held their own and wrestled exceptionally well.
  • Seeing El Jefe at the end of Fusion was awesome. I have been eating up this storyline every week and tonight was no exception. Based on what happened, it sounds like Salina de la Renta may be in some serious trouble. I am very excited to see this story continue come July.

Weak Points of the Show

  • Laredo Kid’s refusal to acknowledge Lio Rush’s win is an interesting story. I do look forward to seeing how that plays out. However, the angle seems less effective to me since Lio Rush barely acknowledges his Cruiserweight Championship win. I wish Rush would carry around the Cruiserweight championship more often to remind the audience that he is a double champion.
  • In general I am not the biggest fan of the PWI Top 10 rankings. For tonight’s rankings, I was a little confused as to why Myron Reed and Lio Rush were included on the list. I was under the assumption that middleweights were in their own division. Seeing those two on the top 10 Heavyweight list was confusing.
  • It sounds like Injustice has a new entrance theme. I couldn’t hear the new song very well. However, I appreciated the old theme a little bit more.
  • I heard Ray Flores refer to Calvin Tankman as a member of Injustice during the main event. Although Tankman helped out Injustice back in March, I don’t see Tankman being a good fit for that group. To me, Tankman and Injustice would be better off as separate entities. I could be completely wrong though. For all I know, Tankman could seamlessly fit in with the group. As of right now I just don’t see it.
  • My only complaint with the main event were the piped in crowd effects at the end. There was enough organic emotion between Rush and Reed throughout the match, and the fake crowd noise took away from that during one of the most critical moments of the contest.
