Yesterday on Night 2 of the Scenic City Invitational, Daniel Makabe took to the mic following his match with Dominic Garrini. Daniel confirmed that while he’s slated to recover from a vertebrae injury. He plans to wrestle one or two more matches in Seattle, Washington, and in his home of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

…I pinched a disc in my vertebrae. …so I hurt my back pretty badly when I was 25 years old many years ago. …I took 2 years off and then I said “You know what? I’m in my 30s now…lets get really popular all over the world.” Lets wrestle in Germany and England and all over the Southeast so many many times.

The fact of the matter is I’m not really long for this wrestling world anymore. So I’m currently doing physiotherapy and you know my doctor thinks I’m gonna make a full recovery but the fact of the matter is I have a lot of living still to do. I have someone back home in Seattle that means the world to me and I’m gonna marry her one day.

So this isn’t a retirement. I’m not taking the shoes off and leaving them in the ring. I will have at least one or two more matches in Seattle and Vancouver because Vancouver is my home and Seattle is my second home. Chattanooga is a very close number 3. …this might be the last time you see me wrestle in the Southeast so of all chance that is the case, I just have to say thank you and I love you all very much.

You can watch the VOD of the 2022 Scenic City Invitational Tournament anytime on IWTV. Night one features an opening round match between Makabe and Damyan Tangra.
