On July 16th, Catalyst hosted Sabotage live from Chilo’s in Brooklyn, New York. Going into this event, the show was pretty stacked. On one card you have some of the hottest young talent of the indie scene (Bandit, AKIRA, Colby Corino, etc.). And paired with these young, hungry talents are some of the veterans of the independent scene (Homicide, Jack Evans, Joker and BLK Jeez).

Before the action even started, I have to note that the venue and atmosphere was excellent! While the venue itself is a taco bar in Brooklyn, the show took place outdoors. The outdoor wrestling space reminded me of something out of Def Jam Vendetta with a ring set up in an urban sprawl.

If I could describe this show in one word, I would choose variety. Catalyst showcased a great variety of differing styles of pro wresting. Darius Carter and AKIRA had a fantastic technical bout. The Mane Event added another great tag team bout to their resume against The Tri-State Legends. West Coast star Kidd Bandit had a fun and phenomenal showing here in the East against T.I.M. This kind of event is perfect to bring any casual wrestling viewers or even anyone who doesn’t watch any wrestling.

The match that stuck out to me most, and my personal pick for match of the night was T.I.M. vs Kidd Bandit. Bandit showed up in fun and physical form as always. T.I.M. made the perfect opponent to play off of Bandit’s antics when the match got silly and still got serious when things got physical. Not too far behind these two was the Catalyst Championship Match with Darius Carter and AKIRA. With AKIRA getting to show more of his teeth with his wrestling core, Darius (who himself is an underrated technical talent) made a perfect opponent with Championship stakes on the line.

All of these elements and more came together and made for a great event. If you wish to check this show out, you can get it right now on Catalyst’s Gumroad account for $9.99 for unlimited video on demand viewing. And if you’re in the Brooklyn area on September 18th, Catalyst is hosting State of Mind at Chilo’s. The show is already set to feature the likes of Jack Evans, O’Shay Edwards, Kidd Bandit and AKIRA.
