Major League Wrestling starts the New Year with ‘Kings Of Colosseum 2024’, its first live event on FITE+. The event occurs on Saturday, January 6th, from the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, PA at 8 pm.

MLW closed out last year with a big Holiday Rush show, and they look to continue that momentum to start this year. There are seven matches scheduled on this stacked card. Let’s take a look at the matches and what they have in store for us this Saturday?

Trios Match: Wasted Youth (Marcus Mathers & Dyln McKay) & Alec Price vs. Tony Deppen, TJ Crawford, & Griffin McCoy

This match is a late addition to the card added less than a week ago. Wasted Youth is one of the hottest tag teams in Independent Wrestling going into 2024. They are 2-0 in MLW so far.

One of their wins came in a Fusion TV Taping Triple-Threat Tag Team Match against none other than TJ Crawford & Griffin McCoy, as well as Mane Event—Wasted Youth teams with another standout on the Indies last year, Alec Price.

Tony Deppen, TJ Crawford, & Griffin McCoy are a trio stable, making their presence known in MLW. They have been feuding with Kevin Blackwood over the past few months.

Which team will start 2024 on the right foot and prevail in this Trios Match? We find out on Saturday.

MLW Tag Team Championship Match: Second Gear Crew (Matthew Justice & 1 Called Manders) (c) vs. World Titan Federation (Tom Lawlor & Josh Bishop) (w/Saint Laurent)

Matthew Justice & 1 Called Manders from the SGC became MLW Tag Team Champions at ‘MLW Fightland’ by defeating The Calling’s Rickey Shane Page & Akira. Along with Masked Good Brother III, formerly Mance Warner, the SGC faction has become a fan favorite in MLW.

They will take on two of the toughest in MLW, Tom Lawlor & Josh Bishop, from MSL’s World Titan Federation stable.

These two groups are no strangers to each other. Justice & Bishop have been fighting with each other since Bishop eliminated him in a Battle Royal last month. They also had a match at Holiday Rush in which Bishop prevailed again.

Does Bishop and the WTF have SGC’s number? Or can SGC find a way to pull out the win and retain their titles?

Love Is Blind(fold) Match: Love, Doug vs. Brett Ryan Gosselin

This feud started because of B3CCA. Love, Doug made several attempts to profess his love to B3CCA and was shot down numerous times.

Then B3CCA had a note delivered to Doug several weeks ago, wanting to meet up with him.

This was a setup, as her boyfriend BRG was waiting for him with a tire iron, beating down on Doug.

Now, these two will do battle in a Blindfold Match. Who will be victorious as both do battle for the one they love?

MLW National Openweight Championship Taipei Death Match: Rickey Shane Page (c) vs. Akira

The story that has been told between two former friends and partners turned bitter rivals has been a good one. Former MLW Tag Team Champions RSP & Akira have much in common. One of the biggest is their love and experience in Death Matches.

It is fitting that this story goes through a Taipei Death Match, in which the competitors’ fists are taped and dipped into glue and crushed glass, thus allowing shards to stick to their fists.

Whether it is the end of the story or a continuation remains to be seen. RSP has seemed, up to this point, to have the upper hand on Akira. Can Akira battle through adversity to become the new MLW Openweight Champion? Only time will tell on Saturday.

MLW World Featherweight Championship Match: Janai Kai (c) (w/Salina de la Renta) vs. Hyper Misao

Janai Kai has been a dominant Featherweight Champion since taking the title from Delmi Exo at MLW’s Slaughterhouse in October. Now she takes on Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling & DDT Pro-Wrestling star Hyper Misao.

We have seen several Japanese wrestlers compete in some great MLW matches over the past few months. This match will surely deliver as well.

Will Janai Kai be victorious and continue her dominant reign as MLW Featherweight Champion? Or will Hyper Misao figure out what no one else has been able to yet: how to beat the champion?

Dream Match: Matt Riddle vs. Jacob Fatu

It didn’t take long for social media and the wrestling world to buzz when MLW announced that Matt Riddle was returning at ‘King Of Colosseum.’ The match will not be an easy comeback match by any means.

His opponent, Jacob Fatu, is one of the most decorated wrestlers in MLW history and the longest-reigning MLW World Champion ever! He has faced the best superstars MLW has had to offer, both past and present.

Will Matt Riddle’s return match to MLW be a successful one? Or will Jacob Fatu spoil Riddle’s Homecoming before it even starts?

MLW World Heavyweight Championship Match: Alex Kane (c) (w/Mr. Thomas) vs. Richard Holliday (w/Saint Laurent)

I’m thrilled to see Richard Holliday back in an MLW ring! He has overcome so much in the past year by leaving wrestling because of cancer and then coming back after beating it. To see him back wrestling in various promotions is incredible and inspirational!

After saying that, he returned to MLW and aligned himself with one of the most despised people in MLW, Mister Saint Laurent. MSL has tried to recently take the MLW World Title from Kane at last month’s One-Shot with Matt Cardona. Their attempt was unsuccessful, so in a last-minute power play, MSL signed Richard Holliday to the WTF and made a World Title Match official at the conclusion of One-Shot, an event he was promoting.

Alex Kane has been a fighting champion since day one. And the Bomaye Fight Club continues to grow in numbers.

Will the MLW Champion find a way to defend his title yet again successfully? Or will MSL’s Richard Holliday and the World Titan Federation be too much for Kane?

Tickets for the event are still on sale at MLW2300.com and the 2300 Arena box office. Tickets start at just $15.
