LOS ANGELES – The action-adventure podcast, The Luchador: 1000 Fight of El Fuego
Fuerte has announced the latest addition to their upcoming second season’s cast.
Fresh off his role as The Sheik in the A24-produced The Iron Claw, the wrestler turned
actor and fight coordinator Chavo Guerrero is making his voice acting debut for the
lucha libre themed podcast.
Guerrero made a name for himself in WWE and WCW alongside his uncle, the
legendary Eddie Guerrero, and has since found a second act of his career as a fight
coordinator and actor for shows like Netflix’s GLOW and CW’s The Red Shoe Diaries.
Guerrero joins the cast of The Luchador alongside the recently announced Hikaru Shida
(AEW) and Joseph Ruud aka Erik Rowan/Redbeard(WWE, AEW.)
Chavo says about the project, “I’m really proud of how my performance came out for
The Luchador. I play this guy who feels like the Hispanic Vince McMahon. Can’t wait for
everyone to hear it.”
Showrunner Dan Valero Fletcher says, “Chavo Guerrero and his family have defined a
special corner of wrestling for generations. It is an honor for him to be a part of this story
that celebrates the special DNA that flows through lucha and Mexican wrestling.”

Producer Brandon Kendall adds, ”Stunt performers, and professional wrestlers, for that
matter, should be championed as artists. Chavo is a prime example of how talent can
transcend classification. Our show is founded on providing opportunities for actors like
Chavo to show what they can do dramatically.”

The Luchador: 1,000 Fights of El Fuego Fuerte is set in a supernaturally charged world
of Lucha Libre and Mesoamerican myth. The show follows the story of the “Champion of
Mexico City”, the heroic and sometimes ethically perplexed El Fuego Fuerte.

Season two finds the titular técnico (“good guy”) and his rudo (“bad guy”) compatriot
Lobo Sangre entering a prestigious lucha libre tournament in the Sierra Madre
mountains. As each is drawn to their respective sides of the técnico/rudo divide, only
one can come down the mountain a winner.

The second season will drop in 2024 and you can expect more casting announcements
in the lead-up to release. Season one is currently available on all podcast streaming
platforms.
