OVW has announced that it has signed Mickie James to a backstage role. In a press release they state that she will serve as “Creative Director and Head of Female Talent, as well as Executive Producer for all OVW wrestling shows”

This is obviously a huge signing for OVW, as Mickie is one of the most accomplished female wrestlers, winning titles in WWE and TNA. That experience will not only help with getting the most out of the female talent on the OVW roster, but will also help with the Producer side, as she has been involved in some of the biggest productions on the globe. OVW already has a very talented women’s roster, with current champion, Freya the Slaya, past champions Shalonce’ Royal, Tiffany Nieves, and Hollyhood Hailey J, and many others.

OVW does a very good job of giving storylines and rivalries to their female talent. They’re typically two matches per show or PPV. This signing should solidify OVW as one of the best female rosters on the indies and will give them even more direction than before.

OVW has been attracting more attention than ever recently, since the Nexflix show “Wrestlers” came out in September to very positive reviews. The series focused on the innerworkings of OVW and heavily focused on Hailey J in particular. Since the show aired, all the OVW weekly and PPV shows have been sold out and there has been more interest in the company than there has been in years.

This signing of Mickie James is the biggest signing that OVW has made in a very long time. This should not only help out the overall product, but should do wonders for the women’s division. OVW CEO Al Snow said “ We are not just working with a superstar, we are embracing a vision for the future. Mickie’s influence will transcend the ring, inspiring a new generation of wrestlers and fans alike.”
