On Thursday, March 7th, Freelance Wrestling held its big show, “Injustice.” The show is currently streaming on IWTV.

The show was headlined by a fun tag team match that saw GPA and Laynie Luck attempt to defend their Freelance Wrestling Tag Team Championships against BUSSY (Allie Katch and EFFY). We also saw Shazza McKenzie square off with Alice Crowley, Trevor Outlaw meet Danhausen, Kylie Rae in action, and so much more. Check out the full recap and review below.

Robbie Reeves vs. Gunner Brave vs. Stone Ambrose vs. Acid Jaz vs. Alfonso Gonzalez vs. Regan Lydale

Winner: Regan Lydale

Customary with most, if not all, Freelance Wrestling shows, this show starts with a scramble match between six of the brightest young guns in Freelance Wrestling. Five of the six competitors have reasons to believe that they are arguably some of the top young standouts in Freelance. Acid Jaz on the other hand is one of the Freelance Wrestling OGs and is even a former champion. Each of these six competitors gets their fair share of action and showcases their talent well in this match. The scramble match was very fun to watch and their styles meshed well together.

Regan Lydale specifically looked great in this match. She landed a huge splash to the outside taking out all five other competitors and knows how to get the crowd going. Freelance looks like they could have a future fan favorite for a long time with Lydale, and with her potential, gold may not be out of the question in the future. Ultimately, Lydale pins Brave after hitting the peacemaker. This was a great opening match for all six competitors and the future of Freelance is incredibly bright.

Koda Hernandez vs. Cole Radrick

Winner: Koda Hernandez

From one wrestler with potential straight to another. Koda Hernandez has been a mainstay with Freelance for quite some time. Hernandez truly has all the makings to be a star in EVERY sense of the word. Tonight, he was supposed to square off with Darin Corbin. However, Corbin wasn’t able to be there. So, instead, he finds himself up against Cole Radrick who comes in to do Corbin’s dirty work for him. Hernandez and Radrick truly left it all in the ring. The fans were truly torn on who to root for, with chants for both men ringing through the Emporium Arcade Bar.

After a fantastic back-and-forth match, ultimately, we saw Koda Hernandez hit his finisher on Radrick to win the match. After the match, Hernandez and Radrick hug each other and show each other a sign of respect. This was a very fun match, and I’m looking forward to the impending showdown that will see Koda Hernandez finally get his hands on Darin Corbin for the Freelance Legacy Championship.

Shane Mercer & Craig Mitchell (w/ James Russo) vs. Matt Knicks & AO

Winners: Shane Mercer & Craig Mitchell

The next match of the show saw the unholy duo of James Russo’s minions, Shane Mercer and Craig Mitchell, make their tag team debut. From rivals to partners, this could be one of the most dangerous teams in Freelance today. Their opponents, Matt Knicks and AO are no slouches in their own right. AO and Knicks start the match hot to try to take the fight to the bigger men, but it doesn’t seem to work. However, despite the mismatch this is where AO thrives as he loves to go up against bigger opponents and doesn’t show an ounce of fear.

When the match gets underway, Mercer and Mitchell truly get the upper hand fairly quickly, and they don’t look back. Mercer and Mitchell use their blatant power advantage to good use with some unique offense, and hard-hitting double-team maneuvers. Ultimately, Mercer pins AO after hitting his finisher. Despite a valiant effort by AO and Matt Knicks, Shane Mercer and Craig Mitchell got the win. Mercer and Mitchell truly looked amazing in this match, and the rest of the Freelance Tag Team scene has been put on notice. I don’t know who, if anyone, can stop this team of these two powerhouses.

Kylie Rae vs. Sabin Gauge

Winner: Kylie Rae

In Kylie Rae’s return match earlier this year after missing close to a year of action, we saw her defeat Isaias Velazquez. However, the bigger story came after the match when Rae was attacked by someone who was revealed to be Sabin Gauge. Tonight’s match was very personal for Rae as she looked to get revenge on the person who ruined her big return. This marks Rae’s third match back since having her baby, and Gauge once again looks to start it off first by attacking her from behind.

However, Rae quickly gets revenge on Gauge with a “lope” suicida. But, Gauge is quickly able to change the course of this match again in his favor. Ultimately, Rae counters a roll-up from Gauge into one of her own to put the match away in her favor. After the match, Rae gets attacked from behind, yet again, by Gauge. This draws out Isaias Velazquez who applauds Gauge’s efforts. This rivalry looks to be far from over.

Trevor Outlaw vs. Danhausen

Winner: Danhausen by DQ

This next match sees the most hated wrestler in Freelance, Trevor Outlaw, go one-on-one with Danhausen. Danhausen made his Freelance Wrestling return last month to help out Chico Suave with his issues with Outlaw and Frank The Clown. Frank The Clown makes his way out to the ring to surprise Danhausen, which leads to Outlaw attacking Danhausen from behind. Danhausen, however, quickly fights back, gets the better of Outlaw in the corner, and rains down some evil punches.

It’s been about a year since Outlaw last won a match in Freelance, so this could have led to his idea to get Frank The Clown in his corner. Danhausen beats up on Outlaw throughout the ringside area. However, when the match finally gets back in the ring, Outlaw gets the upper hand thanks to another distraction from Frank The Clown. Ultimately, a low blow by Outlaw gets him disqualified and gets Danhausen the win. Chico Suave makes the save after and it looks like a tag match may be in the works somewhere down the line.

Shazza McKenzie vs. Alice Crowley

Winner: Shazza McKenzie

This match marks the rubber match between Shazza McKenzie and Alice Crowley. With each woman winning once against each other, this match is for all the bragging rights. Crowley makes her way down to the ring first and gets a mixed reaction. The same can not be said for McKenzie, who gets a big pop. This match starts with Crowley using her height and power advantage sending McKenzie packing into the corner from a collar-elbow tie-up.

Crowley gains the upper hand after the early stages of this match-up. McKenzie tries to fight back, to no avail as Crowley lands a big strike to stop her in her tracks. However, after some more of Crowley controlling the match, McKenzie lands a go-behind Saito suplex to change the tides of this match. In the end, a shazz-tastic stunner puts it away for McKenzie. This was a very fun, and very evenly-matched contest. Both women showed up and showed out here.

After the match, it’s announced that Storm Grayson will defend his Freelance World Championship against Mustafa Ali in April.

Freelance Wrestling Tag Team Championship match: GPA and Laynie Luck (c) vs. BUSSY (Allie Katch and EFFY)

Winners: AND NEW Freelance Wrestling Tag Team Champions, BUSSY

In the main event, GPA and Laynie Luck put their Freelance Wrestling Tag Team Championships on the line against BUSSY. This was one of the more anticipated matches of the night. BUSSY makes their way down to the ring first and gets a massive pop. These two are beloved by the Freelance faithful. However, they despise GPA and Laynie Luck and it all came to a head tonight. GPA and Laynie Luck make their way out next and don’t get as warm of a reception.

The match starts hot between these two teams. However, when things get underway, Katch tries to take out both of the champs. Unfortunately for her, this doesn’t work and GPA quickly gains the upper hand. The champs double-team Katch in the corner and don’t let up. Eventually, Allie Katch tags in EFFY and he comes in hot. After some more back-and-forth, ultimately, GPA clocks Katch over the head with one of the belts to get the three-count.

However, this match didn’t end there. A couple of referees came down to ringside and witnessed the belt usage. This restarts the match, and Katch pins GPA after the BUSSY Buster to win the belts.  This was a great main event tag team match. It’s always a treat seeing BUSSY, and seeing them win the Tag Team Championships makes it that much sweeter. Overall, this was a great Freelance show from top-to-bottom.

Hello, my name is Scott Mitchell and I have been a professional wrestling fan since 2005. Like everyone the first promotion I really fell in love with is the WWE. However, as I got older, I got largely into the greatness known as independent wrestling. Independent wrestling has turned into one of my biggest passions. Please enjoy!
