Mercedes Martinez was inducted into “The Indie Wrestling Hall of Fame” this past weekend. Mercedes has been one of the most dominant and influential wrestlers on the independent scene over the past few decades. She was part of the IWA Mid-South event, “Volcano Girls” which was the precursor to Shimmer. She was also on the first Shimmer show, and was a cornerstone of that company, which helped lead us to the Women’s Revolution in American Wrestling. Without people like Mercedes, women’s wrestling would not be what it is today.
The question of who the best women’s tag team in the NWA will be decided when the champions, The King Bees, Danni Bee and Charity King, face off against Pretty Empowered, Ella Envy and Kylie Paige in a 2 out of 3 falls match. This is available on NWA Powerrr on the CW App as of today.
The former division 1 athlete and NXT wrestler, Sarah Baer, will take on the veteran and half of the Neon Blondes, Dani Mo, at Ryse Wrestling on April 13th. Also, on this card will be the in ring debut of Slammin’ Sammy, as she takes on Laura Loveless and a mixed tag team match, as Sonny Vice and Megan Meyers take on Alex Danis and Pegasa.
Xia Brookside is unable to compete at Uprising 2 on April 19th due to other obligations, but a replacement for her in her match against the Black Swan is the cutest in the world, Maki Itoh. Also on this show, the evil Hale Twins will face Dani Mo and “The Stunner” Emily Jaye, who will be teaming up for the first time ever.
Jody Threat will return to C*4 to take on Kennedi Hardcastle on April 26th.
Both Jada Stone and Joseline Navarro had impressive weeks in Philadelphia during Mania Week. Joseline came out with the win in the scramble at “For the Culture” that Jada was also in. Jada will try to get that win back when Jada and Joseline face off in a singles match on May 4th at OWA’s “Brew Wars”.
The NWA Women’s tag team championships will be on the line when The King Bees face off against Vert Vixen and Jazmin Allure at New Texas Pro’s “Gorgeous” on May 11th. Also on this event will be Raychell Rose against JJ Blake.
The TNA Knockouts champion, Jordynne Grace will be wrestling at Evil Uno’s “Mystery Wrestling 8” on May 12th in Quebec and live on Uno’s Twitch channel.
AEW’s Skye Blue will take on Chicago icon, Kylie Rae at “Battle for the Heart of Chicago” on May 16th, presented by the creators of Warrior Wrestling.
We had some announcements from Belle 2 Bell for their show on May 18th “Ding Dong” at The Monster Factory. Avery Jax will no longer be on the event, but the tag team match that she was scheduled to be on will still be great, as Harleen Lopez and Kiki Van Gogh will take on Becca Wiley and Hyena Hera. That event will also feature Tiara James, coming from an impressive showing at For the Culture, taking on Australian standout, Lena Kross.
Laynie Luck has been battling through an elbow injury, but she has still been racking up wins. At St. Louis Anarchy’s “Anarchy Forever” on May 31st, she will be facing Anakin Murphy, who may be even a little bit more depressed and emo after recently failing to win the Destination Championship.
