Early this morning (3pm local Japan time), Game Changer Wrestling took to Twitter and announced that due to injury, Maki Itoh will be unable to compete on tonight’s GCW event at Shinjuku Face.
Itoh took to Twitter and stated, “I apologize for causing trouble to various people, but don’t worry, I’m not depressed by the injury or anything! A broken bone won’t break Maki Itoh’s mentality.”
The GCW Extreme Champion was injured Monday during an 8 person tag team match at the DDT and GCW joint event “Never Ending Noisy Summer”. Yesterday she competed against the legendary The Great Sasuke with her right wrist/forearm bandaged up. She was able to successfully defend the Extreme Championship in that contest. As of right now there is no timeline to her return.
Takayuki Ueki was named as her replacement in the GCW World Championship match against Mance Warner. The event is currently happening in Japan and will stream tonight at 8pm ET on TrillerTV+.
