Prestige Wrestling’s Roseland 9 Preview

Prestige Wrestling’s next big show, Roseland 9, will take place on Sunday, September 29, 2024 at the Roseland Theater in Portland, Oregon. It will stream live for FREE starting at 9:45 EST on Prestige’s YouTube channel.

The show is loaded as per usual for Roseland events, including several first-time matchups with debuting talent in Prestige. Multiple title matches are also sprinkled across the card, including entries from Deadlock Pro Wrestling and West Coast Pro Wrestling as part of their partnership with Prestige Wrestling. Let’s get on with a preview and some predictions for the show!

Jordynne Grace vs. Amira

Grace returns to Prestige Wrestling with even more momentum than her last Prestige appearance back in February, a victorious effort against Sandra Moone. Speaking of momentum, her opponent, Amira, has quickly become one of the faces of Prestige Wrestling. Amira has garnered a wave of fan support with her work in the PNW, including a victory against Kylie Rae at Combat Clash PDX in July. It’s a huge opportunity for Amira to get a landmark win in her career. Though the TNA Knockouts Title is not on the line here, I still expect that Grace will come out on top, but not without a strong effort from Amira.

Prediction: Jordynne Grace

DPW World Championship: Calvin Tankman (c) vs. Donovan Dijak

Dijak surprisingly parted ways with WWE earlier this year and has immediately jumped into big matches on the indie scene. Tankman comes in as the DPW Champion since December of 2023, with a recent successful defense against another recently WWE-departed opponent in Trevor Lee. Fans of Dijak will remember his wars against fellow “hoss” Keith Lee, so this feels like a spot for a similar style match. With uncertainty of how long Dijak may stick around DPW, I think Tankman retaining is the pick.

Prediction: Calvin Tankman retains

Prestige Wrestling Tag Team Championships: Sinner & Saint (c) vs. Violence is Forever

Violence is Forever, consisting of Dominic Garrini and Kevin Ku, have been together as a team for 5 years now. At present, they are the GCW Tag Team Champions reigning since November of 2023. All that being said, this is Sinner & Saint territory here in the PNW. The defending Prestige Wrestling Tag Team Champions have dominated the tag team scene for much of 2024 in Prestige. Not only that, but Travis Williams is coming off a win in the Cascadia Cup Tournament in singles action. The match should be excellent, but I don’t see S&S losing the titles here.

Prediction: Sinner & Saint retain

Kylie Rae vs. Xia Zhao

Continuing with the new talent theme, Xia Zhao (formerly Xia Li from WWE/NXT) comes to Prestige Wrestling, and her opponent is one of the stalwarts of the independent scene. Kylie Rae, one of the most well-known names of women’s wrestling, has a track record that is tough to top. However, she has yet to find success in Prestige Wrestling, falling to Amira and Miyu Yamashita in her two outings this year. Time will tell what is next for Xia Zhao in her career, but this is a spot where veteran Kylie Rae should come out on top with her experience.

Winner: Kylie Rae

DPW National Championship: Adam Priest (c) vs. Cody Chhun

Cody Chhun has had all kinds of success in Prestige Wrestling. The inaugural Cascadia Cup winner and 2-time Prestige Wrestling Tag Team Champion looks to add another title to his resume. Adam Priest meanwhile won the DPW National Championship on July 7, in a triple threat match for the vacant title after Bryan Keith gave it up. I expect nothing but a fast-paced, entertaining match here between these two. I do think a title changes hands on this show, and this would be my pick for it to happen.

Prediction: Cody Chhun wins the title

West Coast Pro Championship: Kevin Blackwood (c) vs. Trevor Lee

As noted earlier, Trevor Lee has returned to the indie scene after his run in WWE as Cameron Grimes. For Blackwood, this will be one of his toughest defenses of the West Coast Pro Championship since winning it from Starboy Charlie back in March. Lee’s resume speaks for itself, and he’s accomplished a lot on a big stage. While Lee would certainly be a viable champion for West Coast Pro, I don’t believe he ends Blackwood’s reign here.

Prediction: Kevin Blackwood retains

FTR vs. Midnight Heat

Yes, the dream match that had been teased by the Heat for the last few Prestige shows has come to fruition. FTR, one of if not the best tag team in the world today come to Prestige Wrestling to take on the Midnight Heat, one of the best tag teams in the history of the promotion. Both teams work similar tag team styles, using tag-team maneuvers and tricks alike to win their matches. This should be as technically sound of a tag match as you’ll see today. FTR give a lot in their matches, so it seems reasonable to expect a lot of near falls and close finishes. Ultimately, FTR comes out on top, but not without the Heat throwing everything they have at the former AEW Tag Team Champs.

Prediction: Glorious tag team wrestling, and a FTR victory

Jaiden vs. Alpha Zo vs. Matt Brannigan

Jaiden is coming off a great run in the Cascadia Wrestling Cup tournament, making it all the way to finals before falling to Travis Williams. Brannigan as well captured the hearts of many with two wins in that same tournament. To me this match is all about the momentum that Jaiden has going for him and keeping that going, as there are likely big things coming for him in the near future, possibly including a rematch with “Blackheart” Lio Rush.

Prediction: Jaiden

Prestige Wrestling World Championship: Alan Angels (c) vs. Mustafa Ali

Lots to unpack with this one. Angels dropped this title to Starboy Charlie at the tri-branded Untouchable show on July 20th, only to win it back in Japan on September 9th. After that victory, he then challenged Mustafa Ali for this show. Ali is undefeated in his Prestige Wrestling appearances so far and has been very successful since leaving WWE. Earlier in the year, I thought that Ali would be the guy to take the title off long-reigning champion Alex Shelley, and I could totally see him being Prestige Champion still. However, this feels like a situation to me where The Noise interfere to keep the title on Angels as he is just starting his second reign as champ, possibly setting up a rematch down the line.

Prediction: Mustafa Ali wins via DQ; Angels remains champion
