EVE presented “Welcome to the Grrrl Parade” on Friday, October 4 at The Big Penny Social in London, England. The event aired live on YouTube, with the first match being available for free and the following matches available to their members.
This event featured a long awaited title match between Nina Samuels and Alex Windsor, along with the European debut of Ayame Sasamura and much more
Millie McKenzie vs. Rayne Leverkusen
Millie has been one of the cornerstones of EVE and Rayne has become one of the most popular athletes in EVE, especially since she recently came back from being out of action for over one year. Millie is in her evil era, pushing the ref into Rayne during her entrance, then faking an injury. It’s crazy to think Millie is only 24 when she has been wrestling for 10 years and accomplished so much.
There is a really fun sequence where Rayne hits a pump handle suplex, but Millie answers with a side suplex, which is countered by a cutter from Rayne. They exchange suplexes and I don’t know how either is standing. Millie hits Rayne with an incredible series of moves, but Rayne kicks out of the pin attempt. Rayne hits Millie with a spine buster followed by a sharpshooter attempt, but Mille gets to the ropes. Millie hits a spear from the ropes and running shins to the head for the win. This was an incredible way to start the show and was possibly the match of the night.
Winner: Millie McKenzie
Claudia Bradstone, Natalie Sykes & Zizi vs. Operation SAS (Nightshade & Skye Smitson) & Session Moth Martina
The first team out has a lot of different personalities; Sykes comes to the ring taking selfies, Claudia is a bit more serious and Zizi is a 6 ft tall complete bad ass. The next team, collectively known as SASSY, comes out with Martina’s typical high energy entrance. All three of these women are incredible and have huge personalities. Unfortunately, they get attacked during their entrance.
Zizi is frustrated that the other two are not listing to her, and comes in the ring but Martina takes her out. Nightshade takes out the other two members and the two monsters in the match Zizi and Nighshade face off. Zizi dominates team SASSY, however Sykes tags herself in and Zizi leaves the match. Nightshade hits Sykes with a Choke Bomb for the win and Team SASSY celebrate.
Winner: Operation SAS and Session Moth Martina
Ayame Sasamura vs. Lucy Sky
Lucy is making her EVE debut and Ayame is making not only her EVE debut, but also her European debut. Sasamura is the 2A Tag champion and SEAdlinng Tag Champion.
The match quickly goes to the outside as they exchange shots. Ayame hits a crossbody off the apron, but gets met with a Falcon’s Arrow when she gets back in the ring. Lucy uses her power advantage in the ring. Sasamura hits an impressive combination, first hitting Lucy with double knees after hanging Lucy up in the corner, then followed by a suplex with a bridge for a near fall. Sasamura misses from the top, and is met with a bullet dropkick from Lucy followed by a suplex, running knee and spear for the win.
This is a very imprssive win for Lucy and one that many would consider an upset. This should get Lucy Sky some more opportunities in EVE. Lucy attacks Sasamura after the match and Nighshade makes the save. Nightshade and Lucy is a battle of powerhouses that I would love to see.
Winner: Lucy Sky
EVE Championship: Nina Samuels (c) vs. Alex Windsor
This is a battle of two of the top stars in EVE. Alex has not lost a singles match in ten months, but Nina has not lost a singles match in nearly two years.
Nina appears insulted that Windsor thinks she is on Nina’s level. Nina seems to be enjoying beating Alex down and talking down to her the whole time. Nina’s antics seem to fire Alex up as she comes back with a fury. They are both showing that they know each other very well with counters and even going for the same moves at times. Nina is getting frustrated that she cannot put Alex away.
Both women are in the best shape of their lives and are putting on an incredible match. Alex goes for a superkick, but Nina pulls the ref in the way. Nina hits Alex in the back of the head with the title, but Skye Smitson, who was on commentary, comes to the ring. Alex hits a huge clothesline and goes for the pin, but the ref is distracted with Skye and Alex only gets a two count. Alex starts arguing with Skye and Nina rolls her up for the win. Skye says that she wanted Alex to win, but since she did not, Skye wants the next title match and says she will give Alex the first shot when she wins.
Winner: Nina Samuels
This was another good show from EVE with the best matches being the first match, between Millie McKenzie and Rayne Leverkusen and the main event between Nina Samuels and Alex Windsor.
We also saw some possible foreshadowing, as Lucy Sky and Nightshade seems like a hoss match that everyone would love to see. Skye Smitson appears to be the next in line for the EVE Championship, but Alex Windsor still thinks that she deserves a shot. EVE rarely does triple threat matches, so we will have to see where this goes.
