MLW Holiday Rush 2024 Review & Results

We start the show with Filthy Bros. Matt Riddle and Filthy Tom Lawlor discussing their favorite Christmas song and New Year’s resolutions. They also talk about their opponents tonight. From there, we go into the intro video package and music for the show.

The commentating team is Joe Dombrowski and Christian Cole. The camera pans to the crowd in the arena, and we get set for our opening match.

1.) MLW Non-Title Match: Janai Kai (c) vs. Tiffany Avatar.

Kai squashed Avatar with a single kick, causing the referee to stop it.

Winner: Janai Kai

Janai Kai grabs the mic and cuts a promo on the crowd and her future opponent, Delmi Exo. She addresses the Title vs Hair Match at MLW’s King Of Colosseum on January 11th, 2025.

Dombrowski runs down some of the matches on the card before going to the break.

When we return from the break, we are shown clips of Eric Bishoff from the MLW One-Shot event three weeks ago.

From there, we go to Delmi Exo, who cuts a promo on Janai Kai, saying she has one more chance for the MLW Featherweight Championship and will not lose.

The MLW Featherweight Title Match on January 11th is promoted again as we go to the ring to introduce our next match.

2.) Akira vs. Minoru Suzuki

The crowd was firmly behind Akira, and he had some moments in the match, but Suzuki was too much for Akira. Suzuki transitioned from a sleeper hold to his finisher to pick up the pinfall and win.

Winner: Minoru Suzuki

More clips are shown from Eric Bishoff’s One-Shot event, showing the interaction between Alex Kane and Eric Bishoff, ending with Bishoff firing Kane.

Dombrowski announces Matt Riddle vs. BRG after the break.

Back from the break, clips of Cesar Duran & Eric Bishoff’s interaction at One-Shot and the Middleweight title match from the card are shown.

Next, we go to a backstage office where Cesar Duran and Salina de la Renta talk about Eric Bishoff. The father of Salina’s baby shows up, and Salina asks, “Where’s the baby?” He thought Jesus Rodriguez was with the baby. Everyone becomes frantic, and Duran tells everyone to look for the baby as he tries to calm down Salina.

3.) Matt Riddle vs. Brett Ryan Gosselin

BRG comes to the ring and cuts a promo on the crowd. The crowd chants, “Shut the fu*k up!” Riddle enters the ring, and the match begins.

BRG had help from Bobby Fish and the Andersons, who definitely tried their hardest to distract the ref and intervene.

Riddle wasn’t alone either, as Alex Kane came down while the ref was dealing with the heels outside the ring. Kane assisted in setting up Riddle’s finisher for the pinfall.

Winner: Matt Riddle

Next, Ultimo Guerrero cuts a promo backstage, vowing to win the MLW title against Kojima later.

Cameras appear backstage with Saint Laurent talking to Timothy Thatcher. He requests that Thatcher break Tom Lawlor’s leg in their match. He gives Lawlor some money now and says the rest will come after Thatcher is successful.

We then go backstage to BRG, where he appears extremely upset over his loss to Alex Kane. Paul Walter Hauser interrupts him, and BRG starts talking down to him. Hauser says he is open to having a match against him.

4.) Titan vs. Magnus

This match was everything you would expect from two Lucha Libre stars. It was fast-paced with a ton of action.

Titan eventually got the better of Magnus and ended the match with a Sharpshooter to pick up the submission win.

Winner: Titan

We go backstage when a camera picks up Kevin Knight, who is hurt on the floor. The damage appeared to be done by CW Anderson and Brock Anderson, who were both standing over him and holding a bat.

5.) Tom Lawlor vs. Timothy Thatcher

This is a match between two very good in-ring technicians. It was a good back-and-forth match.

In the closing moments, Lawlor applied a Rear Naked Choke on Thatcher. Thatcher would not tap; instead, he passed out before forcing the referee to stop the match.

Winner: Tom Lawlor

After the match, Lawlor got on the mic to talk to the crowd. Saint Laurent walked to ringside to interrupt him. Donovan Dijak attacks Lawlor from behind, but Lawlor fights back, clotheslining Dijak out of the ring.

Next, Cesar Duran and Jesus Rodriguez find Salina’s baby in a crib in the boiler room. There was a note saying they could have kidnapped the baby, but they decided to take the baby’s father instead.

Backstage, Justice cuts a promo saying he will keep taking things to the next level of extreme. He says he will become the first-ever triple crown champion in MLW.

A Satoshi Kojima highlight package airs as it’s time for the main event!

6.) MLW World Heavyweight Championship Match: Satoshi Kojima (c) (w/Okumura) vs. Ultimo Guerrero

This match featured a lot of hard-hitting action, including several near falls, keeping the crowd on the edge of their seats.

In the end, Kojima was the last one standing, hitting a Lariat Clothesline to pick up the pinfall and retain his championship.

Winner: Satoshi Kojima

We close out the show with an advertisement for Matt Riddle vs. Satoshi Kojima for the MLW World Heavyweight Championship at Kings of Colosseum on January 11th, live from Texas.
