Brett Lauderdale Shares Thoughts on GCW Hammerstein Show, and If There’s Plans to Return in the Future

This past Sunday, Game Changer Wrestling returned to the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City for the second time.

Game Changer Wrestling held “The Wrld on GCW” at the Hammerstein Ballroom in January 2022, which received mixed reviews from wrestling fans worldwide. Nearly 3 years to the date, GCW made their return to the Hammerstein Ballroom on January 19th, as they held “The People vs. GCW”.

Last night, GCW owner and promoter Brett Lauderdale spoke on the Game Changer Weekly podcast on his thoughts about the event and if there’s plans to return to the Hammerstein Ballroom.

Lauderdale on his overall thoughts of “The People vs GCW”:

“There are some things that I thought were great. There was some things that I thought could have been better. There was a few things that were kind of botched so to speak. Some things that nobody might have even known about and some things that you know you might have figured out watching it. Just little things, you know. See I’m a I’m a perfectionist here, so when things don’t go perfect, sometimes I get a little discouraged or upset about it. Overall, I was pretty pleased with most of the show. But it wasn’t perfect. Now, just to be clear, none of our shows are perfect. So me saying that is not saying I’m dramatically let down in any way. It’s hard for me to go back and watch any GCW show because I want them all to be perfect, and if they’re not, it’s hard for me to watch it. So me saying this is not unusual. I’m just answering your question.”

Lauderdale on what he would rate the show on a 1-10 scale:

“I guess I would say I don’t know, seven, seven and a half. Just to be clear there’s no GCW show that I would have ever rated a 10 so take that one off the board. I would say that it was good, that’s what I would say. It was a good show.”

Lauderdale on if there’s plans to return to the Hammerstein Ballroom:

“Are there plans to go back to Hammerstein? I don’t have a contract right now for another date, but there’s no plan not to go back to Hammerstein. I think it’s just going to be a matter of if there’s a right time and right moment scenario, that pops up again. I still really love that place. It’s a special place for me. It’s a special place in wrestling. In my mind anyways. I would like to go back there someday. We’ll see what the future holds. Maybe we’ll skip over it next time and go down the street to Madison Square Garden.”

Just like the first event, “The People vs GCW” saw mixed reviews across the wrestling world. The event can be seen anytime on TrillerTV+.
