Dani Jordyn Announces Her Retirement from Professional Wrestling

Dani Jordyn announced this past week that she was stepping away from professional wrestling. In an announcement, she stated that she felt that she would no longer give 100% and that was not fair to her opponents or anyone else involved.

Throughout Dani’s eight years of wrestling she has had some incredible matches and entertained fans on the indies and in AEW. Dani was known as the mean girl of professional wrestling and always carried around her Burn Book with her, this was of course due to her love of the classic movie Mean Girls.

On an episode of AEW Dark during the holiday season she even did the iconic dance from the movie. Dani was a regular at the AEW tapings at Daliy’s Place during the pandemic, appearing on 11 episodes of AEW Dark between March 2020 and June 2021.

Dani has been a mainstay in the southeast since starting wrestling. She was trained by AR Fox and competed for promotions like WWW4, ACTION, New South, Queens of Combat, and many more. Dani was in the ring with many people who would become stars in the industry, like Gigi Dolan, Daphanie LaShaunn, Kiera Hogan, Trish Adora, KiLynn King, and many more. She made the PWI list of top female wrestlers in 2021 and was a two time holder of the IWE Women’s Championship. She also formed a tag team with David Ali called The New Era.

Dani was a big part of the LGBTQ community in professional wrestling. She appeared on Outsport’s QWI list of top queer wrestlers on four separate occasions and peaked at number 24 in 2020. She also wrestled on “Butch vs Gore” in 2020, which many believe was one of the most significant queer shows in independent wrestling history. Dani always liked to connect with her fans, putting out queer focused merch, like a shirt that says “A Little Bit Bisexual”.

Dani Jordan will be missed in the wrestling world, from her matches to her antics. However, she has definitely left a mark on the industry, helping us through a tough time during the pandemic and helping queer wrestlers become more accepted.
