Charli Evans became the new PWA Heavyweight Champion on Friday, April 11th at Pro Wrestling Australia’s “CHEVS vs TROY”.

This match was extremely violent and personal. Charli and Jessica Troy were best friends and tag team partners until Charli attacked Jess after she won the Colosseum tournament back in October.

Charli and Jess had a very friendly and competitive match in the first round of the Colosseum tournament, which Jess won with a roll up. Jessica won the tournament and Charli appeared to come out and celebrate with her best friend. North Shore Wrestling came to the ring and the friends appeared to have a solid front until Charli struck Jess from behind and attacked Jess along with North Shore Wrestling. The damaged Jess’ leg so bad that she was momentarily out of action. 

Charli Evans and North Shore Wrestling won a match that let Charli name the stipulation for their title match and she chose the Last Person Stading match. The match really gave the advantage to Charli with her hardcore and deathmatch experience and minimized Jessica’s submission game. Leading up to the match, Charli stated that Jess should be ashamed of herself, using a roll up to win their match at Colosseum and that she would need to do more than that to retain her title. 

There was no feeling out process in this match, which makes sense, because they know each other so well. They attacked each other as soon as the bell rang and did not let up until the end of the match. Jess started bleeding early in the match, and then returned the favor, as she took the sword that she received for winning the Colosseum tournament and cut Charli with it. The match remained pretty even between the former friends until a large man entered the ring and gave a huge spear to Jess, which helped Charli obtain the victory and the PWA Heavyweight Championship.

Charli Evans has been successful everywhere she has competed, but this was the championship that she was focused on the most. Charli has been tag team champions with Millie McKenzie in EVE and Sendai Girls; and is a two time Resurgence Champion.

Charli has also competed in multiple deathmatch tournaments, including the Nick Gage Invitational, Deathmatch Down Under Heavyweight title tournament, and the DOA Deathmatch Tournament.
