Rhio Defeats Nina Samuels to Win the PROGRESS Women’s World Championship

On Sunday, May 4th, PROGRESS Wrestling returned to London for it’s annual show, “Super Strong Style 16, Day One.” The event streamed live on TrillerTV+. It marked the return of the Super Strong Style tournament, but it was headlined by a massive match for the PROGRESS Women’s World Championship which saw Samuels put her championship on the line against the career of Rhio.

Back in April, Nina Samuels put her Women’s World Championship on the line against Rhio and Vert Vixen. Some might say Rhio should have won the title in that match, but there was another factor in the match, Vixen. Fast forward to today, Rhio got her one-on-one match with Nina Samuels in a Title vs. Career match.

In December of 2024, Samuels ended up winning the Women’s World Championship from Rhio at “Chapter 175: Unboxing VII: The Curtain Call.” Since then, Samuels ended up defeating the likes of Emersyn Jayne, Rayne Leverkusen, Rhio, and Vert Vixen, to keep her 126-day reign alive. However, in today’s “Title vs. Career” match, something was going to have to give. Kanji wound up being the Special Guest Referee in the match, marking her return to PROGRESS.

Rhio and Samuels put on what could have been the best match on the show, which is saying something since there were a lot of great matches. Ultimately, after a nearly 20-minute match, Rhio was able to put Samuels away with two package piledrivers to win the championship and end the reign of Samuels.
