On Saturday, May 31st, Create A Pro Wrestling returned to the All Sportz arena in Melville, NY for one of it’s biggest shows of the year, “The Chosen Ones.” The event was posted to the Create A Pro YouTube channel at a later date.
The main event saw a “Sabu Rules” match between Bear Bronson, Vargas, and Slade in a three-way dance.
We also saw Jeff Jarrett in action, Bobby Orlando defend the Create A Pro Championship against Rich Swann, The System’s, Brian Myers & Eddie Edwards, put the Create A Pro Tag Team Championships on the line against The Shooter Boys, Gabby Forza put the Create A Pro Women’s Championship on the line against Alisha Edwards, and so much more. Check out the full review of the show down below.
Aaron Rourke def. Dan Barry
In the opening contest of the night, we saw WWE ID prospect, Aaron Rourke, go to battle with local Long Island legend, Dan Barry. Barry is currently on his retirement tour as he winds down his illustrious career. Rourke and Barry had some fun to start the match, including Barry smacking Rourke on the behind, and Rourke teaching Barry how to hit him on the behind harder. However, the comedy stuff aside, these two guys can absolutely go in the ring.
This match was an amazing way to start the evening. Barry took the fight to one of Create A Pro’s biggest stars, and current WWE ID prospect, Rourke. Ultimately, Rourke pins Barry via a roll-up. After the match, the two had a show of respect. Barry looked great, even in defeat to one of Create A Pro’s best. As Barry winds down his career, it’s essential to remember all that he has done for the wrestling business, and he deserves a fitting sendoff. As for Rourke, he truly deserves it all. He’s on an incredible run now and is one of the most talented stars on the independent wrestling scene. His future is incredibly bright.
#1 Contender’s match for Create A Pro Women’s Championship: Nat Castle def. Rebecca J. Scott, B3CCA, & Paris Van Dale
Up next, we saw Nat Castle, Rebecca J. Scott, B3CCA, and Paris Van Dale do battle to challenge for the Create A Pro Women’s Championship on July 25th in Lynbrook, NY. This was Scott’s debut in Create A Pro. Despite this being her debut, her experience is unparalleled. She’s the Dreamwave Women’s Alternative Champion and has earned every accolade so far. It was also great to see Paris Van Dale and B3CCA back in a Create A Pro ring. Nat Castle, without a doubt, is the biggest Create A Pro regular in the match, and was my pick to win it.
Castle and B3CCA went to battle right away, as Van Dale and Scott fought on the outside. This was a fun four-way match which saw some big spots, including B3CCA diving to the outside and taking out everyone, and Van Dale and B3CCA each doing a split and throwing strikes. Ultimately, after B3CCA hits a 450 splash on Scott, Castle throws B3CCA to the outside and pins Scott for the three-count. Castle is on her way to becoming one of the top women in Create A Pro’s history. Truly, can’t say enough good things about the young upstart in Castle.
Create A Pro Tag Team Championships: The Shooter Boys (Aaron Ortiz & Anthony Vecchio) def. The System (Brian Myers & Eddie Edwards) (w/ Alisha Edwards) (c) to win the Create A Pro Tag Team Championships
At CAP TV Lucky Seven, the Shooter Boys went through six other teams to earn this opportunity. This was their first-ever chance at tag team gold in Create-A-Pro. Around this time last year, they were just making their wrestling debut. Fast forward just one year, and they are already, arguably, the hottest tag team Create A Pro has ever seen. However, they had a very tall task ahead of them: TNA’s The System. This match had a very big fight feel in person. A change could be smelled in the air.
The match itself was fantastic. It was the Shooter Boys’ best match so far in their young career. The System through everything they had at their much younger and more inexperienced opponents, even getting Alisha involved quite a few times. Ultimately, the Shooter Boys hit their finisher on Myers, and Ortiz pinned Myers to win the match and the titles. A very well-deserved championship win for the Shooter Boys. Get to know the names, Aaron Ortiz & Anthony Vecchio. They are going to reach heights never seen before on the independent wrestling scene.
Dante Drago & Heath def. Jake Lang & Sidney Bakabella
Following the championship match, we saw another tag team match take place. In this one, we saw the Create A Pro TV Champion, Dante Drago, team up with Heath to face off with Jake Lang and his new “best friend and business associate,” Sidney Bakabella. This was a great way to continue furthering the Drago and Lang storyline, just now with added elements. Lang cut a promo saying it’s Bakabella’s “69th birthday” and wanted to sing Happy Birthday. Drago made his entrance, cutting off the song to the crowd’s appreciation. Followed by Heath, who got a big welcome from the Create A Pro crowd.
When Lang tags in Bakabella to face Heath, Bakabella is very scared. Heath allows Bakabella to give him a headlock, which Heath reverses easily. Heath reveals that Bakabella is wearing a wig, which pops the crowd and causes Bakabella to run and tag in Lang. This was a fun match that saw good back-and-forth from both teams. Ultimately, after failing to hit an elbow drop, Bakabella eats a “danger zone” move from Heath. Heath pins Bakabella to win the match for his team. This was a fun one, but it was going to be tough for any match to go on right after the Shooter Boys championship win.
Create A Pro Women’s Championship: Gabby Forza (c) def. Alisha Edwards to retain the Create A Pro Women’s Championship
The System makes its way to the ring alongside Alisha Edwards, in hopes of helping her to win some gold here tonight. Edwards may be one of the most experienced opponents Forza has ever faced in a Create A Pro ring. Gabby Forza has held the Create A Pro Women’s Championship for 385 days. Forza remains one of the biggest faces Create A Pro Wrestling has ever seen. That’s saying something in a company with Bobby Orlando at the top of the mountain.
With The System trying to help Edwards, they get kicked out by the referee. Forza controls the match from there on out. However, as she goes up for 10 punches on Edwards in the corner, Alisha counters and changes the tide of the match. Ultimately, however, Forza remained unstoppable. Forza hit the thunder driver on Edwards to retain her Create A Pro Women’s Championship. Next up, Forza vs. Nat Castle on July 25th in Lynbrook.
Jeff Jarrett, CPA, & Nick Robles def. TJ Crawford & Adrenaline Express (Eric James & VSK)
Next up, we see the legendary Jeff Jarrett team with CPA & Nick Robles to take on the team of TJ Crawford and Adrenaline Express. Crawford makes his entrance first, paying homage to Jeff Jarrett in his gear, in a cocky, non-respectful way. The two teams went at it early on, with Jarrett, CPA, and Robles gaining the upper hand. Jarrett, CPA, and Robles did his famous strut while the heels of the match were outside regrouping and getting their wits about them.
Thanks to a distraction from VSK, Crawford nails Robles with a big step-up enzuguri in the corner to change the tide of the match. Crawford and Adrenaline Express controlled a good portion of the match, up until the end. Ultimately, after a hard-fought contest, Jarrett hits the stroke on Crawford and pins him to win the match. Always fun seeing Jarrett live, easily one of the biggest legends in professional wrestling today. This was a great segment with a ton of fun.
King of CAP Battle Royal: Leo Sparrow wins by last eliminating Phil Cardigan
The King of CAP Battle Royale was hosted by former WWE Hardcore Champion and former Tough Enough contestant, Maven. Maven cut a promo before the action got underway. The match saw the likes of Phil Cardigan, Leo Sparrow, Jack Tomlinson, “Smart” Mark Sterling, Evil Kip, Tommy Invincible, the Even Stevens, Los Toxicos, TK Wylde, Adam Kirkland, Justin Finn, Just Joe, Kalvin Dumont, JGeorge, QGTM, Joe Shoes, Liam Davis and many other young guns on the Create A Pro roster today. Bryce Donovan’s music hit, but he never made his way down to the ring.
The match started, and everyone went and eliminated Tommy Invincible. Tomlinson found an ally in Bobby Casale, who looked very strong before being eliminated by TK Wylde. Kip looked good in the match, but was distracted by Bryce Donovan, who made his return to Create A Pro with a new theme song and new entrance. This allows Sparrow to jump Kip from behind. Donovan entered the ring and quickly made himself known. Donovan eliminates his former partner, Kip, before Just Joe shocks the world and throws Donovan over the top. Ultimately, Sparrow eliminates Cardigan, who thought he had it won, to become the new King of CAP.
After the match, Maven crowns Sparrow. This leads to Sparrow going low on Maven and leaving his mark. This was a fun battle royal match, which saw a bunch of newcomers get a chance to showcase who they are to the Create A Pro faithful. Sparrow more than deserved this moment. Despite his cocky, better than you attitude, Sparrow has the talent to back it all up.
Create A Pro Championship: Bobby Orlando (c) def. Rich Swann
In the first of two main events, we saw Bobby Orlando put the Create A Pro Championship on the line against Rich Swann. Swann got a long entrance to the match with the crowd, who serenaded him with his theme song “All Night Long.” Not to be outdone, Orlando got a great pop from the fans in attendance, as well. Orlando and Swann had some fun to start the match, while the fans continued to sing “All Night Long.” The two then engaged in a dance-off which Swann ended early with a back heel kick to the gut.
The two put on a fantastic match for the top prize in Create A Pro Swann even survived a Bobby Bomb, kicking out at two. Ultimately, Orlando hit a big dab elbow drop onto Swann for the three-count, retaining the Create A Pro Championship. This marked Orlando’s first title defense. Orlando looked excellent against one of the greats in professional wrestling today. He even got a show of respect after the match from Swann. Orlando continues to impress and looks poised to lead the next era of Create A Pro.
Sabu Rules Match: Bear Bronson def. Vargas & Slade
The main event of the show featured Bear Bronson, Vargas, and Slade battling in a “Sabu Rules” match. This was a great way to honor the legend of Sabu after his passing. Bronson, Vargas, and Slade are three of the biggest and baddest guys in Create A Pro, and they each had something to prove in this match. Bronson was seemingly the fan favorite, and with him making his full-time return to the independent wrestling scene, we’re about to see a much more intense and scary side of Bronson. This was about as perfect of a main event as you could have drawn up.
The match lived up to the hype and then some. They wasted very little time going extreme. If you enjoy extreme HOSS fights, this is the match for you. We saw everything from Bronson hitting an elbow drop on Slade with a chair, Bronson and Slade throwing Vargas through a door, Bronson back-body dropping Slade through a door, and Vargas tackling Bronson through the third door set up in the ring. Vargas powerbombed Bronson through chairs in the ring and seemingly had the match won, but Ariela Nyx distracted the referee. This caused Vargas to chase Nyx into the back, leaving Bronson and Slade alone.
Ultimately, Bronson hits a DBD on Slade through a barbed wire door set up in the corn and pins him to win the match. This was a perfect main event to a damn near perfect show. Bronson is officially back with something to prove. Now’s the time to jump on the Bear Bronson bandwagon. He’s about to go on a crazy run in the independent wrestling scene. In PWPonderings’ latest exclusive interview with him, Bronson said he’s more focused than ever before. This is a great thing for Bronson and a bad thing for anyone he’s standing across the ring from.
