GCW World Champion Effy suffered an injury at last night’s Game Changer Wrestling “Hit Em Up” event.
Last night in Rutherford, New Jersey, Effy was defending the GCW World Championship against WCW legend Crowbar. In the opening seconds of the match, Effy hit a tope suicida on his opponent, but in the process he hit his right knee on the concrete. The knee seemed to irritate Effy throughout the match, but despite the injury, the champion went on the wrestle for nearly 14 minutes. He successfully defended the title.
Effy was originally scheduled to compete in a 3-on-3 deathmatch alongside Matt Tremont and Manders to take on 2 Tuff Tony, Mad Man Pondo and Mickie Knuckles at Juggalo Championship Wrestling’s “Powder Keg” later that evening, but missed the event due to the injury. He was replaced by John Wayne Murdoch.
There’s no update on the severity of the injury, but we wish Effy a speedy recovery. He’s scheduled to compete at the Gathering of the Juggalos later this month on August 14th and 15th.
