Pro Wrestling EVE “Hit Me With Your Best Chop” Recap and Review

Pro Wrestling EVE “Hit Me With Your Best Chop” took place at Big Penny Social in Walthamstow, London and streamed live on EVE’s YouTube channel. It included the debut of Kidd Bandit, along with the EVE debut of the tag team LALLIE. It also featured Nightshade’s first defense of the EVE Championship against Alexxis Falcon.

Skye Smitson def Aleah James

Aleah may be better known in the states, but Skye is one of the top wrestlers in EVE.  Aleah tries to use her speed advantage to start the match off quick, but Skye quickly turns the match around with her power. Skye picks up the win in under 5 minutes. This was a good, albeit short match, which showed the fire of Aleah and the powerful dominance of Skye.

Nina Samuels, who is not booked to wrestle on this show, comes to the ring and demands a rematch with Kris Statlander for the EVE International Championship. She mentions that she deserves the rematch, since she was undefeated for two years. One of the owners of EVE, Dan Read, comes to the ring and says that she will not get a rematch handed to her, and she will need to earn it. He says that at “EVE vs The World” they will have a suitable opponent for her. That opponent may be a Joshi from Japan or it maybe someone that is Elite. This event will occur on August 23, which is the same weekend that AEW will be in England for “Forbidden Door”.

Millie McKenzie def Kidd Bandit

This is a first time match up that starts very respectful, but then we get a middle finger from Millie, and it picks up. Kidd Bandit has a very unique approach to wrestling but really seemed to click well with Millie. Bandit gets some offense in, but Millie answers with multiple suplexes, and picks up the win with a spear. I really enjoyed this match, as the contrasting styles really magnified what each one excels at.

Rhio def Session Moth Martina

Martina has been on a losing streak and was expected to be dominated by Rhio, which was the case for most of the match, but the story of the match was that Martina kept fighting back. Martina hits a Jager Bomb and then locks in an arm bar in the ropes. Rhio comes back with a back breaker. We are getting close to the time limit and Matina keeps kicking out of Rhio’s pin attempts. Rhio locks in a submission and forces Martina to tap out with just one second left.

After the match Pretty Psycho (Amira and Zoe Lucas) come to the ring. Pretty Psycho says that they had a tag team title match scheduled for today, but it got canceled due to Rhio’s partner, Emersyn Jayne, not being able to make the show. They said that since the champions could not defend the titles, they should get the titles by forfeit. Dan Read said that Rhio could fight them by herself or she could find another partner, but it had to be agreed to by Pretty Psycho. Pretty Psycho would not agree to anything other than being handed the titles. Dan said that he had no other choice but to give them the titles but would make it up to Rhio. He then said that Pretty Psycho would have to defend the titles.

Elimination Tag Team Title Match: LALLIE (Hollie Barrow and Lana Austin) def Hard Up North (Harley Hudson and Lucy Sky) and Pretty Psycho (Amira and Zoe Lucas) (c)

Lucy quickly attacks Zoe, hits her with a frog splash and eliminates Pretty Psycho, giving Pretty Psycho the shortest title reign in EVE history. LALLIE is a very entertaining team, as Hollie thinks that they are best friends, but Lana does not agree. Hollie is really great in this role. HUN is much more of cohesive team. They double team both Lana and Hollie. However, Hollie is able to hit a springboard cutter on Harley and pin her for the win. This match was very entertaining. Pretty Psycho whined their way to the titles but lost them in record time. It will be very interesting to see what a LALLIE title reign will look like and if Lana will accept their friendship a little bit more, now that Hollie won them the championship.

Falls Count Anywhere Match for the EVE Championship: Nightshade (c) def Alexxis Falcon

This was the first falls count anywhere match in EVE history. They used the whole building, including the adjacent bar. Chairs, kendo sticks, a steel chain, among other weapons were all used. Nightshade seemed like she enjoyed inflicting pain on Alexxis. They fought to the backstage and Lucy Sky was there, and she joined in with Alexxis on attacking Nightshade. Alexxis hits Off with her Head onto a steel chair, but somehow Nightshade is able to kick out. Lucy attacks Nightshade again, but this time Rhio comes out and evens the odds. Nightshade puts Alexxis through a table, then powerbombs her through two chairs for the win. This was a very entertaining match that solidified Nightshade as a dominant champion in her first defense.

The next EVE event will be EVE x The World on Aug 23 in London. Already announced to appear will be AEW stars Skye Blue and Julia Hart, along with Nina Samuels facing a mystery opponent to determine the number one contender for the EVE International championship held by Kris Statlander.
