On Saturday, August 9th, Limitless Wrestling returned to Lewiston, ME, for its big event, “Vacationland Cup 2025.” The event streamed live on IWTV and the Limitless Wrestling YouTube channel.
The main event of the show saw the TNA World Tag Team Champions, and professional wrestling legends, Matt & Jeff Hardy face off with Swipe Right’s Brad Baylor & Ricky Smokes.
We also saw the 2025 Vacationland Cup take place, where only one would reign supreme and earn the prestigious Vacationland Cup. Another big match that took place saw Channing Thomas defend his Limitless World Championship against Dezmond Cole. Also, we saw Tony Atlas and Tommy Dreamer in action, and so much more. Check out the full recap and review of this stacked show below.
Opening Round of Vacationland Cup: Aaron Rourke def. Alec Price
The first match at this prestigious event saw an opening round match to qualify for the 2025 Vacationland Cup Finals later on in the night. We saw the “Dime Piece” and WWE ID Prospect, Aaron Rourke, go one-on-one with the Northeast Beast, Alec Price. Rourke and Price complemented each other very well in this match. This was the perfect way to kick off one of Limitless Wrestling’s biggest shows of the year.
The offense of both men was on full display in this one. Price almost had the match won with his flip DDT, the “Grand Prize,” and his big kick, the “SurPrize kick.” Ultimately, Rourke would not be defeated, picking up the big win over Price with the “Double Rainbow.” Rourke became the first of four wrestlers to punch their ticket into the Vacationland Cup Finals. Rourke’s night was truly just beginning.
Opening Round of Vacationland Cup: Anthony Greene def. Conan Lycan
In the second of four opening round matches for the Vacationland Cup, we saw Anthony Greene go one-on-one with “The Landshark,” Conan Lycan. Lycan has become one of the most exciting wrestlers to watch, showcasing his incredible offense for a big man. As for Greene, he remains one of the top guys in the northeast independent wrestling scene. Something was truly going to have to give in this one. Conan Lycan was the big fan-favorite heading into this one. Greene and Lycan didn’t disappoint in this showing.
Ultimately, Lycan got disqualified when J-Heru caused a distraction, which caused Lycan to pick up a chain, which he never used on Greene. However, the referee saw Lycan pick it up and Greene lying on the ground, which caused the disqualification. It’s becoming very rinse-and-repeat with the new Channing Thomas group. Same booking, different show. After the match, Lycan did knock Greene out with the chain and hit a 450-splash.
The booking in this match could have been MUCH better. Lycan is an absolute stud, yet Limitless doesn’t push him in the title picture. Very unsure what Limitless doesn’t see in him. Lycan has shown time and time again he’s hands down one of, if not THE best, on their roster. Taking nothing away from Greene because he’s great, but I would love to see a new, fresh face, and Lycan could have been that guy. Instead, it looks like we get a rather predictable 2025 Vacationland Cup. Big missed opportunity. Nonetheless, Greene became the second man to qualify for the 2025 Vacationland Cup Finals.
Opening Round of Vacationland Cup: Gabby Forza def. B3CCA (w/ Ban Ban & Bear Bear)
In the third opening round of the 2025 Vacationland Cup, we saw Gabby Forza go one-on-one with B3CCA. We saw B3CCA and B3 make their big entrance in some fancy clothes. Forza came in ready to go and had the crowd of 1,700+ in her corner. B3CCA quickly took the fight to her much bigger opponent. However, it didn’t last long as Forza used her power and size advantage to throw B3CCA around like a ragdoll.
B3 made their presence felt, helping B3CCA to gain the upper hand on Forza. B3CCA did a good job at beating down Forza, even if she had to use help from Ban Ban & Bear Bear. Yes, one of the top young tag teams today, the Shooter Boys, is in Limitless Wrestling as Ban Ban & Bear Bear… Don’t ask. In the end, Forza forces B3CCA to tap out with a powerful submission hold. This was a fun one. However, the outcome didn’t surprise anyone.
Opening Round of Vacationland Cup: Aiden Aggro (w/ J-Heru) def. Ace Romero
The final opening round match of the 2025 Vacationland Cup saw Aiden Aggro go one-on-one with Ace Romero. This seemed like the night where we were finally going to see Romero get another nice push. However, would that actually be the case? The fans hoped so. The Limitless Wrestling faithful were fully behind Romero, hoping he made it to the 2025 Vacationland Cup Finals.
Romero used his size to get the better of Aggro. He even hit a Keith Lee-like pounce on Aggro over the guardrail at the ringside. Romero landed a huge tope suicida on Aggro and Heru later in the match, which popped the crowd. The referee got knocked out, which allowed for J-Heru and Aggro to double-team Romero. Milo Mirra made the save, but was thwarted by 23 Hazard. Romero had other plans, pouncing 23 Hazard out of the ring. Ultimately, Aggro defeated Romero with a chair shot to the head. The finals will now be a four-way match between Aaron Rourke, Gabby Forza, Anthony Greene, and Aggro.
Limitless Wrestling World Championship: Dezmond Cole def. Channing Thomas (w/ Sidney Bakabella) (c) to win the Limitless Wrestling World Championship
In one of the biggest matches of the night, we saw Channing Thomas put the Limitless Wrestling World Championship on the line against Dezmond Cole. Cole was the clear-cut fan-favorite heading into this one. As for Thomas, he was flanked by his manager, Sidney Bakabella. He was serenaded with boo’s during his entrance. Thomas cut a promo saying that if Cole can’t beat him, he can never challenge for the Limitless World Championship ever again.
Cole and Thomas have put on one of the best rivalries that Limitless Wrestling has seen in recent memory. In a really cool moment late in the match, we saw Cole throw caution to the wind, hitting a big splash on Thomas, who was all the way on the other side of the ring. Out of nowhere, when Thomas went to use the belt on Cole, Cole countered Thomas’s actions and pinned him to win the Limitless Wrestling World Championship. This was a very fun match with a very out-of-nowhere finish, which made it all the better. Very happy to see Cole back on top of the mountain following his injury.
Bear Bronson, Seabass Finn, & Tommy Dreamer def. The System (Brian Myers, Eddie Edwards, & JDC) (w/ Alisha Edwards)
In the first match back from intermission, we saw Bear Bronson & Seabass Finn team up with the Hardcore Legend, Tommy Dreamer, to face off with The System. The System comes to Limitless Wrestling from TNA. Brian Myers, Eddie Edwards, and JDC are one of the most dominant groups in TNA today. Something was going to have to give here as they faced off with a super team at the 2025 Vacationland Cup. Bronson enters the 2025 Vacationland Cup event with something to prove following his AEW departure, in arguably one of his biggest independent wrestling shows since returning to the indie scene.
This was a very fun six-man match, which was a nice break from all the tournament action we’ve been seeing tonight. The match spilled over into the crowd and began to get extreme, which worked very well for Dreamer. This match was chaotic, in the best way possible. In the end, Bronson hits his double choke slam move on Myers and puts him away to win the match for his team. This match was a blast.
Tony Atlas def. Sidney Bakabella
I don’t know what anyone really expected from this match, but whatever it was, we surely didn’t get it. WWE legend Tony Atlas made his return to Limitless Wrestling to face off with Sidney Bakabella. Bakabella is not a wrestler, and Atlas is a wrestling legend and a WWE Hall of Famer… So what could possibly go wrong? In all seriousness, this was a fun segment, but far from a five-star wrestling match.
Bakabella challenged Atlas to an arm wrestling match, which he lost. Bakabella sneak attacked Atlas with a chair to quickly gain the upper hand when the real match began. Ultimately, Atlas puts Bakabella to sleep with a sleeper hold. That was fun. It’s always a pleasure to see Atlas in action, especially at the expense of Bakabella.
2025 Vacationland Cup Finals: Aaron Rourke def. Gabby Forza, Anthony Greene, & Aiden Aggro to win the 2025 Vacationland Cup
Following that match, it was time to discover who would be next in line to challenge for the Limitless Wrestling World Championship, which is now held by Dezmond Cole. Aaron Rourke, Gabby Forza, Anthony Greene, and Aiden Aggro have all qualified for the match. It was clear that no competitor in this match was 100%, or anywhere close even. This was an elimination-style match where the final competitor left standing would be the winner.
After Forza accidentally spears Rourke, Aggro rolls her up to eliminate her. Forza was the first elimination of the match. Rourke had a very uphill battle to climb as he was now stuck with two members of the Bakabella Family. Rourke hit a big moonsault onto Greene before being hit by a shining wizard from Aggro. The shining wizard caused him to fall onto Greene and pin him to eliminate him. Ultimately, Rourke overcame the odds, pinning Aggro after hitting a split-legged moonsault to win the 2025 Vacationland Cup. I’m beyond happy for Rourke. He’s come such a long way, and he deserves it. I’ve had the pleasure of growing up with him, from seeing his first match on, and he’s the best he’s ever been right now. It looks like we will be getting Rourke vs. Dezmond Cole. This is going to be an absolute banger of a match at the 10th anniversary of Limitless Wrestling show in September.
The Hardy Boyz (Matt & Jeff Hardy) def. Swipe Right (Brad Baylor & Ricky Smokes) (w/ Miss Susannah)
With the 2025 Vacationland Cup now decided, there was only one match left to be had. We saw one of professional wrestling’s most legendary tag teams, Matt & Jeff, The Hardy Boyz, square off with Swipe Right’s Brad Baylor & Ricky Smokes. The Hardy Boyz are timeless wonders. Albeit Father Time always wins, for right now, Matt & Jeff Hardy are doing some of their best work. It’s awesome getting to see them go up against a young and up-and-coming tag team like Swipe Right, and this match didn’t disappoint.
Miss Susannah got involved a couple of times before the host of the night, Jon Alba, came out and sent her to the back. This evened out the playing field for The Hardy Boyz, and they went on the attack. Ultimately, after a very fun tag team match, Matt & Jeff Hardy would hit a double twist of fate on Smokes, and another innovative double team move on Baylor. Jeff Hardy landed a Swanton bomb on Smokes and pinned him for the three-count, giving his team the win. This was a fun way to end a stacked show.
