From August 8th through August 10th, we witnessed a number of great independent wrestling matches. PWPonderings’ Scott Mitchell had the chance to catch most of the shows from this weekend and put together a list of five must-see matches from this past weekend. From the likes of Wrestling Revolver, Limitless Wrestling, DOA, and even Blitzkrieg! Pro, here are five must-see matches from this past weekend.

5. Queen of Thorns Tournament Finals: Amira vs. Kel from DOA Queen of Thorns 2025

On Saturday, August 9th, DOA returned to Portland, OR, for its big event, “Queen of Thorns 2025.” Last year, we saw Liiza Hall defeat Mylo in the Queen of Thorns final. Fast forward a year, and we saw a terrific finals match this past Saturday between Amira and Kel. Amira defeated Naomi King, Dark Sheik, and last year’s winner, Liiza Hall, to reach the finals. As for Kel, she defeated Murphy Madsen, Abigail Warren, and Su Yung to punch her ticket. The finals would be a very hard-fought match between the two. From the ring to the outside, Amira and Kel brawled all over. In the end, Amira lands the Tower of Power slam to win the match and the tournament. Both women absolutely crushed it in this one. While Amira may be more of a household name, both she and Kel will be major stars sooner rather than later. Credit to both ladies for an outstanding finals match. Go check this one out.

4. Opening Round of Jerry Lynn Invitational: Priscilla Kelly vs. Zachary Wentz from Wrestling Revolver Jerry Lynn Invitational Part 1

On Saturday, August 9th, Wrestling Revolver held two big shows in one day for its big event, “Jerry Lynn Invitational.” In Part 1, we saw Priscilla Kelly and Zachary Wentz do battle in the opening round of the invitational. This was a match that we almost saw at Cage of Horrors a couple of months back. However, the match had to be stopped due to a medical issue for Kelly. Now, Kelly and Wentz, the real-life fiancĂ©s, had a fantastic match, which caused everyone to forget about the match from Cage of Horrors. Ultimately, Wentz picked up the win with his beautiful finisher. But this match was such a blast to watch. Wentz and Kelly threw everything they had and more at each other, and it had an extra little flair of being a tournament match. This was everything that fans hoped it would be at Cage of Horrors, and it didn’t disappoint. Welcome back to Revolver, Priscilla Kelly. Happy to have you back! Always an absolute pleasure to see Wentz in action, too, as he’s one of the best Revolver has to offer.

3. Charles Mason vs. Zachary Wentz from Blitzkrieg! Pro’s Actin’ Up

On Sunday, August 10th, Blitzkrieg! Pro returned to Enfield, CT, for its big event, “Actin’ Up.” This was the first event for Blitzkrieg! Pro since its huge 7th annual Luau event back on June 28th. The main event of this show saw Charles Mason battle Zachary Wentz just over a month since his battle with Wentz’s fiancĂ©e at the 7th annual Luau event. Priscilla Kelly defeated Mason, so Mason was looking for some payback. He and Wentz went to war in the main event, but ultimately, Mason was victorious. Now, we are getting Wentz and Kelly vs. Mason and a mystery partner at Blitzkrieg Pro’s next show in October. This has been a very fun rivalry in Blitzkrieg of Mason and the couple of Wentz and Kelly. Mason is one of the best in the northeast around today, and it’s about time more people are starting to take notice. As for Wentz/Kelly, everyone knows how good they are. This is a recipe for success.

2. Last Man Standing: Ace Austin vs. Damian Chambers (w/ Kayla Kassidy) from Wrestling Revolver Jerry Lynn Invitational Part 2

On Saturday, August 9th, Wrestling Revolver held the second part of its two-part event, “Jerry Lynn Invitational.” One of the big marquee matches on Revolver’s second of two shows saw Ace Austin battle Damian Chambers in a Last Man Standing match. These two went from being partners, even friends, to bitter enemies. Austin was looking to get back on track, and he did just that. After a hellacious match where each man truly tried to hurt the other, Austin dropped Chambers through a door outside of the ring and covered him with weapons. Since becoming a free agent, Austin has been on a whole other level, continuing to show everyone just how valuable he truly is. As for Damian Chambers, he’s one of the most fun young studs to watch in the Midwest. Also, have to show appreciation for his fantastic manager, Kayla Kassidy. Kassidy and Chambers make a great duo in Revolver and are always a blast to watch. This match was a recipe for success.

1. Limitless Wrestling World Championship: Channing Thomas (c) vs. Dezmond Cole from Limitless Wrestling Vacationland Cup 2025

On Saturday, August 9th, Limitless Wrestling held one of its biggest shows of the year, “Vacationland Cup 2025.” One of the biggest matches of the night saw Channing Thomas put the Limitless Wrestling World Championship on the line against Dezmond Cole. Thomas and Cole had a rivalry that has defined Limitless Wrestling for the past year. Despite his brief time away due to injury, Cole got right back on track and climbed the mountain again to retain the Limitless Wrestling World Championship. Thus, ending Thomas’s second reign. The match was a blast with a very abrupt and out-of-nowhere ending. The ending almost added to the match’s unpredictability. Overall, this could have been the best match of the entire weekend. Fantastic showing from both competitors, and I’m happy to see Cole back on top of the mountain.
