On Saturday, August 23rd, Game Changer Wrestling returned to The Showboat in Atlantic City, NJ, for its big event, “Homecoming, Night 1.” The event is currently streaming live on TrillerTV+.
GCW wasted little time in kicking off their massive night with the first match taking place between Shotzi Blackheart and Matt Cardona for the Garage Beer Championship. We knew there would be some shenanigans as both Blackheart and Cardona have a lot of friends. We just didn’t know who was going to show up.
When Tommy Invincible made his way out to the ring, tricking fans in attendance into thinking that Nick Gage was there, Shotzi seemed to have an uphill battle to face. However, the real Nick Gage’s music hit and he made his return for the first time in over a year to make the save for Shotzi. Gage took out Cardona with a broski boot and even made light work of Invincible. However, the surprises didn’t stop there.
A little bit later in the match, we saw Cardona call for backup, in which several masked men made their way into the arena. However, after Shotzi took out a good portion of the masked men, two more made their way into the ring. They unveiled themselves to be former WWE stars, Killer Kross & Scarlett, who helped out Shotzi.
In the end, Shotzi won the Garage Beer Championship, but not before we saw our first big surprise of the night.
