Interview: Priscilla Kelly Talks Return to the Indies, Shotzi Blackheart, Gisele Shaw, and More

In PWPonderings’ latest exclusive interview, Scott Mitchell sits down with Priscilla Kelly to talk about her return to the independent wrestling scene, her upcoming matches with Shotzi Blackheart, Gisele Shaw, what’s next for her, and so much more. Check out the full interview in its entirety down below.

With your return to the indies, what are you most looking to prove to everyone who is watching you?

“The Priscilla I am now is the young girl who was on the indies before, mixed with the young girl who was Gigi Dolin in WWE. It’s as if those two came together and created the evolved version of me. I’m a collection of who I was before WWE, during WWE, and my struggles within WWE, and my successes from WWE. I’m a collection of all of these different versions of myself. Now I feel like I am still that young girl, but now the matured version. I’ve grown, I’m a lot more secure with who I am, who I want to be, and what I want to do. For a long time in my career, during and before WWE, I felt like I was constantly chasing something. Never quite knowing what I was chasing. Now, I’m not chasing anything, but I’m just trying to enjoy what I’m doing in the moment. Now, I want to connect with fans, have fun, and do what makes me happy in the moment. Sometimes that’s having the hardest match of my career, or sometimes that’s doing something goofy to get a reaction out of fans. I think this version of me makes me the happiest. I’m no longer trying to fill someone else’s idea of what I should be. Even on the indies before, I feel like I was always trying to fulfill the idea of what people thought I should be or what I thought I should be, instead of just letting things happen organically. I think I’m the more put-together version.”

What’s your mindset heading into your tag match at Blitzkrieg! Pro against Charles Mason and a mystery partner?

“I’m so sick of Charles Mason. Oh my God. This man does nothing but run his mouth on Twitter all day long and all night. Charles, figure it out, buddy. All you do is talk sh*t on the internet. God. I beat him in my match. I’m excited to see how this tag match goes. Honestly, Zach and I should double bronco buster him and make him pay for his crimes. I don’t know who would be with Charles Mason. He’s so weird. Who would want to tag with him? He’s so weird. He’s scary, too. He’s scary, like someone who just got out of prison. As much as I don’t care for Charles Mason, he’s very talented and has one of the coolest characters in wrestling now, I will say that.”

On Thursday, you’ll be working with Shotzi at House of Glory. What’s your mindset heading into that one?

“I tried to talk some sense into her at the last HOG show. She jumped Indi Hartwell, whom I was facing that night. I tried to talk some sense into her, and she sucker punched me. It became a thing from there. The thing is, since she came to the indies, she’s going after this ‘Indy God’ title. She’s so full of herself and thinks she’s better than everyone. I think my goal tomorrow is to knock some sense into her and make her remember who she is. Not that she’s not incredible, but she needs to get off of her ‘Indy God’ horse and get slapped around a little bit. That’s exactly what I’m going to do tomorrow. I’m going to whoop her green a**. I’m also facing her again at the end of September, back in Arizona. She’s trying to come for my Arizona Championship. So, I’m whooping her a** coast-to-coast.”

Following your match at House Of Glory, you’ll be facing Gisele Shaw in a winner-take-all match at Maple Leaf Pro. What’s your mindset heading into that one?

“Gisele is a whole different league of an opponent. She really brings it. It’s going to be really interesting to see how this match takes it up a notch from the last time we met at Destiny. I’m really excited. It’s a big caliber match. It’s a winner-take-all, so I can walk away with two titles. I already have two, so technically, I can walk away with four in total. It’s a super high-caliber match. She really takes it to the limit, and she makes you step it up when you’re in the ring with her. So, it’s definitely going to be one to see. I’m really excited for it. To me, that’s probably my biggest match of the weekend.”

Following MLP, you’ll be wrestling at the Mall of America for F1RST Wrestling. What are your thoughts heading into that one?

“So, I don’t know my opponent yet for that show. But, F1RST Wrestling used to be a little home for me back in the day. WrestlePoLooza was one of my favorite shows to ever be on. Those crowds are absolutely awesome. They’re so electric, and they really connect to everyone there. I’m really excited to go back and see if I see any familiar faces. It’s such a fun show to be on, it always is. Plus, I’ve never been to the Mall of America, so I’m really excited about that.”

Looking ahead, what’s next? Do you have any future goals or opponents you’d like to share the ring with?

“Right now, I’m going wherever the wind takes me. The goal I set for myself after I was released was to simply have fun. I just want to have fun again. I went through a lot of depression in WWE from time to time. I’m ready to have fun, ready to do whatever falls into my lap, and I just want to work my ass off, but have fun doing it. I’m booking myself up. My calendar is constantly full. This past month, I was only home for one or two days a week. It’s a grind. I’m exhausted. I’m beat up. But I love it. I’m having more fun than ever. Right now, I’m just happy to do whatever. I’m going back to Japan in a couple of weeks, so just stuff like that. I think living in the present moment, and not worrying too much about what’s next, is the best way to be. A lot of times, everyone is always worried about what’s next, but they don’t enjoy what’s currently happening. Even some of my greatest accomplishments in WWE, I was always like, what’s next? I never slowed down to just enjoy what was happening then, so that’s what I’m trying to do now.”
