Yesterday morning, independent wrestler Rob Killjoy released an update via his social media outlets on his ankle injury.
“Today’s the day. Surgery in a couple of hours. The doctor said it is a bad injury & I’ll probably be out for a year. Absolutely devastating news. I’ve never been injured in 21 years. Never had a broken bone. Never have had surgery. Never been unable to finish a match. During covid I was only off for 6 weeks. Wrestling is all I’ve ever wanted to do ever since I was a kid. I’ve lived my dream but I wasn’t done quite yet. I’ve never been burnt out. Never even considered taking a break. My love & passion for wrestling carries me through. I’m never upset to be at a show. Never wished I was somewhere else. When I was homeless at 17, I had wrestling. When I had relationships end, I had wrestling. When I lost my dad, I had wrestling. & now I don’t get to have wrestling for a while. It’s difficult to process. I plan to come back. I may get jacked & come back better than ever. I may gain a bunch of weight & come back in a singlet as a shell of my former self & wrestling the untraineds & methheads in Boiling Spoons. Hell, I could die! I may end up with Marty Janetty ankle & lose my leg. Who knows?! I know what the shed-promo folks will wish. This isn’t it for me but this is a different feeling than I’ve ever had before. If you know me then you know I can be a bit of a control freak. This is completely out of my control. Don’t care for that. But I have to accept it. And it really is overwhelming how much support I’ve been given & how many people seem to actually care for me. Still hard to believe. Thanks to everyone who has reached out & helped me out. This is going to be hard, but anything worth doing is worth doing right. So I will be back ASPCA (like “ASAP”, but funnier) & quacking at a pond near you! Wish me duck!”
Later in the day Killjoy gave another update stating that the surgery was successful.
Killjoy injured his ankle during a match at the 2300 Arena during ACTION Wrestling’s DEAN 3 taping earlier this month. We wish him a speedy recovery.
