On Friday, September 19th, DEFY Wrestling returned to the Washington Hall in Seattle, WA, for it’s event, “AEON.” The event streamed live on TrillerTV+, and was headlined by a massive heavyweight match that saw Killer Kross and Calvin Tankman do battle to crown the inaugural Super Heavyweight Cup winner.
When the dust settled in a wild main event, Kross had his hand raised high at the end. This was a fantastic main event between two of the very best big men in the sport today. At one point, they teamed up to take out the referee because he was being “too active.” Kross and Tankman truly threw everything they had and more at each other to win the Super Heavyweight Cup. With his victory, Kross became the first-ever Super Heavyweight Cup winner at DEFY Wrestling.
Now, this is not a championship that will be defended at shows. DEFY Wrestling announced earlier in the night that once a year, we will see two of the biggest and baddest men of independent wrestling go at it to win the cup for that year. So, Kross became the inaugural Super Heavyweight Cup winner and earned the right to call himself the best big man on the independent wrestling scene for 2025.
Nonetheless, it should be interesting to see where things stand next year and if Tankman and Kross do battle once again. I would not be opposed to seeing these two kill it once more.
