Scott’s Must-See Matches From The Weekend of 9/26-9/28

From the weekend of Friday, September 26th, through Sunday, September 28th, independent wrestling was at an all-time high, especially overseas. There were multiple events this weekend, including six shows from wXw. From the likes of wXw’s non-tournament event, to wXw’s Femme Fatales 2025 & Konig Der Catcher, as well as Empire State Wrestling and PROGRESS Wrestling, here are five matches every fan of independent wrestling must go back and watch.

5. Violence is Forever (Dominic Garrini & Kevin Ku) vs. Hyperactive (Anita Vaughan & Safire Reed) from wXw’s “Extreme Wrestling Party 2025”

On Friday, September 26th, wXw held a big, non-tournament show. The show began with arguably one of the best tag team matches of the weekend, Violence Is Forever’s Dominic Garrini & Kevin Ju, going up against Hyperactive’s Anita Vaughan & Safire Reed. This was a tremendous way to open the show and was a fantastic tag match. VIF is one of the greatest tag teams on the indies today in the United States, bar none. Seeing them go up against one of my personal favorite tag teams from overseas, Hyperactive was all that we hoped it would be and then some. Vaughan and Reed have shown time and time again how special they are in the ring. For them to not only hold their own but look truly amazing against VIF was so cool. 4. Bustah & The Brain (Alec Price & Jordan Oliver) vs. Miracle Generation (Dustin Waller & Kylon King) from ESW’s “1 Fall”

Also on Friday night, we saw ESW return to Niagara Falls, NY, for its big event, “1 Fall.” The event saw a bunch of great action, but perhaps the best match of the night came when Bustah & The Brain’s Alec Price & Jordan Oliver squared off with Miracle Generation’s Dustin Waller & Kylon King. This match was honestly a damn-near perfect tag match. Seeing these two teams compete against each other makes you realize how well they both complement each other. Bustah & The Brain may have reached different heights than Miracle Generation has, so far, but Miracle Generation has shown they can hold their own against arguably the top tag team on the independent wrestling scene today. Check this one out on IWTV when the show is made available.

3. Konig Der Catcher Tournament Finals: Ahura vs. Elijah Blum from wXw’s “Pro Wrestling Grand Prix Show 4”

In the finals of the prestigious Konig Der Catcher tournament for wXw, we saw Ahura take on Elijah Blum at “Pro Wrestling Grand Prix Show 4” on Sunday afternoon. This was arguably the biggest highlight of the weekend for wXw, and one of the best matches to take place, by far. Ahura has been on the best run of his life lately, and seeing him take on a powerhouse like Blum was such a fun match. This match came across as two individuals who genuinely just wanted to outdo each other and prove who the better wrestler was to win the prestigious tournament. The fans devoured this one, and it’s easy to see why. This was an epic conclusion to the Konig Der Catcher tournament. Go back and check out this masterpiece on TrillerTV+.

2. Kanji vs. Nina Samuels from PROGRESS Wrestling’s “Chapter 184: Camden Lock Up”

On Sunday, we saw PROGRESS Wrestling return to the Electric Ballroom in London for its big event, “Chapter 184: Camden Lock Up.” The show was headlined by Kanji battling Nina Samuels in a match where the loser must leave PROGRESS. This was arguably both women’s best matches yet together. Kanji and Samuels have such a prestigious story at PROGRESS, and it was so fun to see it all unfold. At one point, their story was about the PROGRESS Women’s World Championship; however, it’s grown so much more than that. Now we see how personal it has gotten, seeing the fact that neither woman could see PROGRESS Wrestling go on with the other remaining a part of the promotion. Without giving too much away, this was the perfect main event and a perfect send-off to one of the best to do it on the UK independent wrestling scene. It should be interesting to see where she goes from here, whether to a major promotion or maybe a tour in the United States, but one thing we know for sure is that it’s not the end of either of their times as professional wrestlers. Go watch this one back on TrillerTV+.

1. Femme Fatales 2025 Finals: Safire Reed vs. Anita Vaughan from wXw’s “Pro Wrestling Grand Prix Show 4”

The match of the weekend. Arguably, the match of the year. Safire Reed faced off with Anita Vaughan in the finals of the Femme Fatales 2025 tournament. Their match took place in the second-to-last match of the “Pro Wrestling Grand Prix Show 4” event. If there was ever a time you listened to me on what matches to go back and watch, it’s this one. This could have been one of the greatest women’s matches in wXw history. Reed and Vaughan’s chemistry together as a tag team is so good. However, their chemistry together as opponents is even better. There’s something to be said about squaring off with your best friend and how easy it is to make magic with them. This was on full display in their match. What an epic conclusion to the Femme Fatales 2025 tournament. Honestly, this very well could, and should, have main-evented the whole show. Taking nothing away from Ahura and Elijah Blum, but this match was just downright insane. Go check this one out on TrillerTV+, and support both of these incredible women.
