From Friday, November 7th, through Sunday, November 9th, professional wrestling was alive and well on the independent wrestling scene. From the West Coast to the East Coast, we saw several big shows with some of the top talents on the independent wrestling scene today. From the likes of Pro Wrestling EVE, Prestige Wrestling & West Coast Pro Wrestling’s joint show, and Game Changer Wrestling, here are five must-see matches from this past weekend that any fan of independent wrestling should go back and check out.

5. Willow Nightingale vs. Lucy Sky from Pro Wrestling EVE’s “Elite Encounters”

Kicking off this list, we saw Pro Wrestling EVE return to London for its big event, “Elite Encounters.” The show saw everything from entertaining matches to all-out wars. It even saw a new EVE World Champion crowned in Rhio. However, the best match on the show saw AEW’s Willow Nightingale go one-on-one with Lucy Sky. This was a match that truly saw a little bit of everything. Nightingale had some fun to start the match, dancing as the fans in attendance serenaded her. However, when the two women got down to business, the action was top-notch. This was a star-making performance for Sky, as she is currently cementing herself as one of the top women on the UK independent wrestling scene. Without giving away too much, Sky showed the world just how good she is against one of AEW’s top women’s talents. While she’s still very young, the future is insanely bright for Sky. Go check this one out on the Pro Wrestling EVE YouTube channel.

4. Prestige World Championship: Kevin Blackwood vs. Judas Icarus from Prestige Wrestling x West Coast Pro’s “Strength Beyond Strength”

The first of two matches from Prestige Wrestling & West Coast Pro’s joint show, “Strength Beyond Strength,” saw Kevin Blackwood put his newly won Prestige World Championship against the former champion, TNA’s Judas Icarus. This was a very fun rematch between two of the very best that Prestige Wrestling has to offer. Blackwood has become a staple of the West Coast independent wrestling scene, which is interesting since he’s from New York. Nonetheless, Blackwood is one of the most talented technical wrestlers around today, and it’s not particularly close. He’s not on TV yet, but it’s no longer a matter of “if” now, but a matter of “when.” Watching Blackwood and Icarus go at it truly brings back a time of professional wrestling where you’re watching two competitors battle who genuinely look like they don’t like each other. That’s not a knock on other wrestlers, but in today’s day and age, it’s very choreographed. Blackwood and Icarus, simply put, once again killed it in a match together. These two are destined to do this for a long time, and they complement each other very well. If you want to go back and check this one out, it’s on the West Coast Pro Wrestling YouTube channel.

3. Danhausen vs. Priscilla Kelly from GCW’s “You Wouldn’t Understand”

Game Changer Wrestling had three big shows this weekend, a couple of which were debuts in the northeast. The shows kicked off on Friday night with GCW’s “You Wouldn’t Understand.” At the show, we saw a ton of great action; however, perhaps no match was as entertaining as Danhausen going one-on-one with Priscilla Kelly. Kelly is once again finding her legs on the independent wrestling scene, and she has truly been crushing it. As for Danhausen, he’s out to remind people he’s still very nice, but “very evil.” I went into this match expecting it to be more comedy, but it wound up being the most entertaining match on the entire show. Wrestling is fun. It’s supposed to be fun. That’s exactly what this match was. This match was extremely entertaining, and Danhausen and Kelly showed that while they can go with the best of them in the ring, they can also have fun doing so. 2. West Coast Pro Women’s Championship: Johnnie Robbie vs. Amira from Prestige Wrestling x West Coast Pro’s “Strength Beyond Strength”

Going back to the joint show between Prestige Wrestling and West Coast Pro on Friday night, we also saw Johnnie Robbie put her West Coast Pro Women’s Championship on the line against Amira. With the match between Blackwood and Icarus being a close second, Robbie and Amira stole the show. Both women spent time this year on an excursion in Japan, and both have come back far more polished for it. That shows tenfold every time they step into the ring. The familiarity these two women have with each other translated very well in this match. The crowd in attendance loved this match, serenading the two with multiple “THIS IS AWESOME!” chants. It indeed was very awesome. Robbie and Amira are two of the best up-and-coming stars that the West Coast has to offer. It’s only a matter of time before we see each of them on a television screen. Both Robbie and Amira deserve their flowers for this one. I can’t state enough the talent that each of these women possesses. Robbie rightfully sits atop the West Coast Pro women’s division and has been having banger after banger of championship matches. Amira is another one who doesn’t get talked about nearly as much as she should. She’s immensely talented and has all the tools to be a major player in this business, like Robbie does. This was truly a can’t-miss match. Go back and check it out on the West Coast Pro YouTube channel… It’s free… What more can you ask for… If you don’t go check it out, you’re missing out.

1. Limitless Wrestling World Championship: Dezmond Cole vs. Charles Mason from GCW’s “Massacre in Maine”

GCW’s second show of the weekend came on Saturday when the promotion made its debut in Maine. The main event of the show saw a six-man tag, and there was a ton of other excellent action as well, including Marcus Mathers vs. Ace Romero and Danhausen vs. Shotzi Blackheart. However, the best pure match on the show, and the weekend as a whole, saw Dezmond Cole put his Limitless Wrestling World Championship on the line against Charles Mason. Cole has been leading Limitless as their World Champion for the better part of the past few months. Cole won the title back in August from Channing Thomas at the Vacationland Cup. As for Mason, he’s been on the best run of his entire career. This was an interesting match, where something had to give. Without spoiling too much, this match was done perfectly to keep Cole looking strong and advance Mason’s big rivalry in GCW. Don’t get it twisted, though; it’s only a matter of time before Mason gets more gold around his waist, especially in Game Changer Wrestling. Overall, this was the best match of the night because it featured two of the best wrestlers on the entire independent scene around today. Mason has been crushing it; Cole has been crushing it. This was indeed a recipe for success. Go back and check this one out on TrillerTV+.
