We continue on with a look back at another set of DPW matches available for free on their YouTube channel, as we head into their final two shows coming up in December and in 2026.
Match One: LaBron Kozone vs. Kevin Blackwood (10/15/2023)
From DPW Live 3 in Ridgefield Park, NJ. Blackwood charges at the bell but Kozone is able to avoid his offense and they stand off. Big boot from Blackwood and he gets the doublestomp from the top for two. Another charge right into a belly to belly overhead toss from Kozone. Michinoku Driver gets two for Kozone.

Kozone pushes Blackwood off and hits a stiff Ballgame. He goes for another but gets caught with a high kick and then go up top, where Kozone gets a Ballgame off the top rope for the win. Quicker than expected (just over 7 minutes) but still hard-hitting and fun. ***
Match Two: Chris Danger vs. Shawn Spears (11/12/2023)
This took place at the World’s Strongest event in Durham, NC. Danger was trained by Spears and this was his first ever match. Spears offers a handshake but to the referee instead, so an annoyed Danger sends him to the outside and hits a tope suicida.
Danger tries a top rope crossbody inside but Spears catches him and hits a DVD for two, picking up Danger to break the count. Spears beats on him outside with some loud chops. Side suplex on the apron cuts off an attempted Danger comeback. Shawn sits on a chair inside hoping for the countout win but Danger makes it back in at 9.
Danger kicks him during some trash talk and pulls out a table. Spears drops him with a neackbreaker over the knee however and props up the table in the corner. The ref gets knocked down inadvertently and Danger gets a Destroyer from the middle rope, then spears Spears (…) through the table.
The ref is revived and gets and counts two, while Danger is gashed on the arm from the table. Eat Defeat connects for another two count. Danger tunes up the band, but Spears beats him to the superkick and Spears hits the C4 for two. Chris with a quick small package gets two, so Spears gets pissed and hits two Pedigree’s to win. A bit slow-paced but a fine debut for Danger. **½
Match Three: Speedball Mike Bailey vs. Andrew Everett (9/17/2023)
Another from the 2023 Carolina Classic in Durham, this one is a first round match. Even exchange to start with both doing a kip up and standing off. Andrew Everett looks for a chokeslam but can’t get it, so does a drop toehold and standing moonsault instead.
On the outside Mike Bailey catches him with the rapid fire kicks, then hits a double kneestrike back inside. A springboard kneedrop this time gets two. Running shooting star press for another two count. Roundhouse kick is blocked, leading to Everett landing a springboard spinning heel kick. They exchange strikes and Everett gets a springboard moonsault for two.
Andrew the Giant tries the chokeslam again but Bailey rolls him up for two, then hits his moonsault knee strike. They exchange tope suicidas to the floor, then Everett gets an Asai moonsault out there. Bailey avoids a baseball slide and then gets his own Asai moonsault very quickly. They both beat the ten count.
Bailey hits a superkick, and Everett responds with an enzuigiri then a chokeslam into a powerbomb for two. The Giant goes up for a shooting star press which hits knees. Back to back superkicks from Speedball and a roundhouse kick. Bailey then gets the Ultima Weapon for the win. These guys are both very good at wrestlling. ***½
Match Four: Best of 3 Series – Team Malachi (Jay Malachi, Andrew Everett & LaBron Kozone) vs. Team Up Next (Lucky Ali, BK Westbrook & Adam Brooks) (3/26/2023)
From Steel Cage Showdown in Durham. This is a series of three one-on-one matches. Adam Brooks attacks Andrew Everett from behind at the bell, but The Giant rebounds with a springboard dropkick and then an Asai moonsault to the floor. Brooks catches him with a foot to the face and lope suicida. Slingshot DDT by Brooks gets two. Front suplex onto the top rope as Brooks does some trash talking, and Everett catches him with a jawbreaker to break.
Brooks quickly comes back with a vertical suplex into the corner buckle for two. Corner charge misses allowing Everett to try a dropkick out of the corner, but he gets caught into a sit-out powerbomb for two. Enzuigiri from Brooks and a suplex which is quickly countered into a Stunner. Top rope crossbody by Everett gets two. Chokeslam attempt is countered with a forearm strike for two, and Brooks locks in a Crossface.
Doublestomp misses, allowing Everett to hit the chokeslam for a two count. Moonsault from the top gets another two. BK Westbrook distracts The Giant, allowing Ali to knock Everett off the top turnbuckle. Brooks gets a Swanton Bomb for the win and the first fall.
Kozone vs. Westbrook is up for match two. Immediate Ballgame from Kozone evens things up in mere seconds.
We finish up with Malachi vs. Ali. Lucky cranks in a headlock as Malachi escapes but gets caught in a kneelift. He tries a powerbomb which is countered by Malachi with a rana and dropkick for two. Ali cuts off a dive attempt and scratches the back of Malachi out on the apron. He tries a suplex but Malachi counters out, only to get hit with a neckbreaker across the top turnbuckle.
Inside, Ali gets an inverted atomic drop and a neckbreaker for two. Side suplex for another two. Malachi fights back landing a side kick but can’t get a side suplex with Ali raking the eyes. Lucky then press slams Malachi out to the floor. Jay barely beats the ten count, only to roll into another assault back in the ring.
Malachi catches him and gets a Thunder Bomb for two. Springboard clothesline followed by a springboard moonsault gets two for Jay. Ali grabs a sleeper to stop the momentum as Malachi eventually wiggles out and gets a headscissor takedown. Malachi with a series of short-arm clotheslines and tries a poison rana which is blocked. Jay gets a pair of cutters that only gets two with Brooks placing Ali’s foot on the ropes.
Superkick connects, and Westbrook attacks Everett on the outside with a chair sparking a brawl. This distracts Malachi briefly and he chooses to dive to the floor instead of going for another cutter on Ali. Back in Malachi gets a small package but the ref is distracted. Cutter is blocked with a low blow and Ali his the Grime Line to give his team the win.
Team Up Next defeat Team Malachi 2 falls to 1. Good match, but not quite as epic as I was expecting going in. ***
Match Five: Jake Something vs. Baliyan Akki vs. LaBron Kozone (11/12/2023)
From the World’s Strongest show in Durham. 3-way test of strength doesn’t get far with Jake Something just running through everybody instead. LaBron Kozone launches Baliyan Akki into Something, and then Akki dives onto both out on the floor. Akki with a backbreaker to Kozone inside for two. He pauses to kick Something off the apron but runs into a big bodyslam from Kozone.
Kozone gets another on Something then drops a headbutt for two. Something lifts Kozone and Akki dropkicks him off the shoulders. Something then chokeslams Akki onto Kozone and covers both for two. Jake locks both in a Camel Clutch then knocks Kozone out with a forearm. DVD on Akki gets two with Kozone breaking up the pin.
Kozone avoids a charge by Something while Akki hits a coast to coast dropkick on Jake in the corner. Kozone then belly-to-belly suplexes Akki into Something and gets two. Ballgame is countered with a backbreaker from Akki and goes for the Namaste splash, but Kozone rana’s him out of the corner only for Akki to roll through and get a two count. I’m having trouble keeping up here.
Uranage into a backbreaker from Akki gets two. Kozone comes back with a brainbuster but walks into a rana. Something re-emerges and gets Into The Void on Akki for the win. A sprint the whole way and it was great. ***½
Final Thoughts: Another entertaining set of matches here from DPW. You can see with the different styles and match layouts why it has been compared to the more original version of ROH. The triple threat at the end was my favorite of the bunch.
