Scott’s Five Must-See Matches From The Weekend of 11/28-11/30

From the weekend of Friday, November 28th, through Sunday, November 30th, independent wrestling was abundant all over the world. From the United States to across the pond, we saw some of the best do what they do best. From the likes of WrestleCade’s SuperShow, PROGRESS Wrestling, Ladies Night Out 15, and C4 Wrestling, here are five must-see matches that every fan of independent wrestling should go back and watch on their respective streaming services.

5. Nic Nemeth vs. Cedric Alexander from WrestleCade’s “SuperShow 2025”

Kicking off the list, we saw Nic Nemeth go one-on-one with Cedric Alexander in a dream match at WrestleCade’s “SuperShow 2025.” This was the event to really get the WrestleCade festivities underway. The show was main-evented by The Hardy Boys, Matt Hardy & Jeff Hardy, who squared off with The Rascalz, Dezmond Xavier & Zachary Wentz. We saw a ton of other great action that night, but perhaps the best match of the night was that of Nemeth and Alexander. What made this match so special was that each man was out to prove something here. Both men are still getting re-accustomed to the independent wrestling scene following their WWE departures, and both are trying to show every time they step in the ring that what you saw of them in the WWE was only a sliver of what they bring to the table as competitors. Their styles meshed very well, and this was a very fun one. Without spoiling too much, this one showed perfectly how good each man is at what they do. Go back and check this one out on the TitleMatchNetwork.

4. Rayne Leverkusen vs. Emersyn Jayne from PROGRESS Wrestling’s “Chapter 187: Vendetta 3”

Next on the list, we saw PROGRESS Wrestling return to the Electric Ballroom in London on Sunday, November 30th, for its big event, “Vendetta 3.” This event saw a ton of excellent action, and is rightfully so on this list twice, but we’ll get to the stellar main event a little bit later. First, we have to address how damn good Rayne Leverkusen vs. Emersyn Jayne was. Since defeating Rhio for the PROGRESS Women’s World Championship, Leverkusen has been on another level. You know who else has been on another level as of late? Jayne. Jayne toured here in the United States recently and got to showcase her talents to a new crop of fans. Fans like myself, who have followed her career across the pond, know how good Jayne is. Leverkusen is coming off her first title defense against Session Moth Martina, and if that match was any indication, she looks poised to hold the title for quite some time. Jayne brought a mean streak of her own, looking for her own shining moment in PROGRESS Wrestling. When you go check this one out, expect a brawl. Expect heavy strikes, drama, and an all-out fight for the top prize in the PROGRESS women’s division. Go back and check this one out on TrillerTV+.

3. Lacey Lane vs. Vipress from WrestleCade’s “Ladies Night Out 15”

On Sunday, WrestleCade Weekend saw another big event to cap off the weekend, as the ladies of wrestling got together and put on a fantastic show, “Ladies Night Out 15.” The main event saw Shotzi Blackheart and Priscilla Kelly go one-on-one in a Last Woman Standing match. Taking nothing away from that match or any other one on the show, the best match by far was Lacey Lane going one-on-one with Vipress. Lane, formerly WWE’s Kayden Carter, is looking to carve a new path for herself on the independent wrestling scene. She’s no stranger to the independent scene, but to say it’s changed since she’s been gone is an understatement. Now, there’s a whole crop of new talent for her to share the ring with, which means new dream matches. Vipress is just one of the names that come to mind when you think of a new potential dream match for Lane. Vipress is very talented in her own right, having wrestled all over the world, showcasing her skills. This was a fantastic early match back for Lane on the independent scene. Expect more of this style of match from Lane. Similar to what I wrote about Alexander and Nemeth above, Lane is out to prove something this time around. She’s certainly one to keep an eye on as she’s only going to keep getting better. Go back and check this one out on the TitleMatchNetwork.

2. Junior Benito vs. Marcus Mathers vs. Gabriel Fuerza vs. Ryan Clancy vs. Alexia Nicole vs. Tarik from C4’s “Event Horizon”

On Friday, C4 Wrestling returned to Ottawa for its big 18th anniversary show, “Event Horizon.” The show saw a ton of great action, including an incredible six-person tag match between Savage Gnomes & Myung-Jae Lee and Subculture, as well as a singles bout between Kevin Blackwood and Haley Dylan. However, the main event stole the show as Junior Benito put his C4 Wrestling Championship on the line against Marcus Mathers, Gabriel Fuerza, Ryan Clancy, Alexia Nicole, and Tarik in an elimination-style match. This match was a perfect way to end the 18th anniversary show. Benito has been on an incredible run with the C4 Wrestling Championship, showing the world that he’s so much more than a “tag team” wrestler. This match was arguably the best in Benito’s reign. Light spoiler ahead: the match came down to Benito and Mathers, and that was truly an out-of-this-world showcase between the two. However, everyone deserves praise who was in this match. Nicole is someone who has been around the independent scene for quite some time, and she’s still so damn good. Tarik and Fuerza looked excellent. Clancy has been in another world lately as the IWTV Independent Wrestling World Champion, and Mathers… is Mathers. Truly. There are not enough words to show how amazing Mathers is in the ring. So, this match was magic from the get-go. Go back and check this one out on the C4 Wrestling VOD channel on IWTV when it becomes available.

1. Man Like DeReiss vs. Tate Mayfairs from PROGRESS Wrestling’s “Chapter 187: Vendetta 3”

Capping off this list, let’s return to PROGRESS Wrestling, shall we? The main event of the show saw Man Like DeReiss put his PROGRESS Men’s World Championship on the line against someone who is very worthy of a title shot, Tate Mayfairs. Mayfair has been a star across the pond for quite some time now. He even had a short run in NXT UK, where he began showing his talents to the WWE fanbase. Since those days, Mayfairs has grown into an absolute unit in the ring. He’s always been incredibly talented, but take what you saw back then and multiply it by 10. That’s how much Mayfairs has improved in the ring. As for Man Like DeReiss, he’s someone who burst onto the scene in PROGRESS Wrestling. He got over with the crowd, showed his talents in the ring, and quickly became one of the very best in the promotion. He ended the historic reign of Luke Jacobs in a wild TLC match earlier this year and has been lightning in a bottle ever since. We’re on a collision course for DeReiss and Cara Noir, which should be one of the best matches of the year when it happens, finally. However, this match was out of this world, too. DeReiss and Mayfairs put on magic together and deserve all the flowers and praise for doing so. Go back and check this one out any time you want on TrillerTV+.
