Scott’s Five Must-See Matches From The Weekend of 12/26- 12/28

On the final weekend of 2025, independent professional wrestling was alive and well, as many companies were seeking to end 2025 on a high note. From the likes of TWE, PROGRESS Wrestling, New Outlaws Wrestling, and PWF, here are five must-see matches from the weekend of December 26th through December 28th.

5. Mackenzie Morgan vs. Kenzie Paige from TWE’s “Femininomenon”

On Saturday, December 27th, TWE Chattanooga returned to Red Bank, TN, for its event, “Femininomenon.” This marked an all-women’s event for TWE. We saw some fun matches on the card, including Airica Demia going one-on-one with Clara Carter, and even saw Kaia McKenna team up with Judy Lee Taylor to take on the team of Ravenna Vein and Kelsey Raegan. However, perhaps the best match of the night came in the main event as Mackenzie Morgan went one-on-one with one of the top women’s stars from the south, Kenzie Paige. Morgan put on an absolute clinic in this one. I went into this match relatively unaware of Morgan, outside of a couple of matches I’ve seen her in. Now, I want to follow her career and see all of her matches. She’s seriously that good. Morgan is one of the most talented young up-and-comers from the south, and she’s already making a name for herself. As for Kenzie Paige, what more can we say about her? She’s a pillar on the southern independent wrestling scene. She’s a former NWA Women’s World Champion, and she is one of the absolute best women’s wrestlers around today. The talent and charisma she oozes is second-to-none. I am incredibly high on Paige, and her sister, for that matter, Kylie (check her out, too). Paige and Morgan put on a fantastic main event on this show, and it is one to certainly go back and check out. Be sure to follow and support both Morgan and Paige. Be sure to go watch this one when it becomes available on IWTV on the TWE VOD channel.

4. Rayne Leverkusen vs. Kanji from PROGRESS Wrestling’s “Chapter 188: Unboxing VIII- The Search For Socks”

In the main event of Sunday’s final PROGRESS Wrestling show of the year, we saw Rayne Leverkusen put her PROGRESS Wrestling Women’s World Championship on the line against Kanji. Not only was this a match that was heavily built to, but it also marked the final PROGRESS Wrestling match of 2025. Leverkusen first won the PROGRESS Wrestling Women’s Championship back in October as she defeated the unstoppable Rhio. Since then, she has been a fighting champion, beating the likes of Session Moth Martina and Emersyn Jayne in her 64 days as champion, thus far. However, her match with Kanji seemed much bigger than anything she’s done before, taking nothing away from the others. Leverkusen has been making a name for herself in PROGRESS Wrestling and doing a great job at that, but she had a very tall task in front of her in this one. Kanji is a former two-time PROGRESS Wrestling Women’s World Champion, including being the woman to end Nina Samuels’ career in PROGRESS Wrestling. Kanji has picked up big wins this year in PROGRESS over the likes of Lana Austin and Samuels, and has gone to war with Rhio at Hundred Volts. To say she’s endeared herself to the PROGRESS Wrestling faithful is a massive understatement. So, something was going to have to give here. Would Leverkusen continue her 60+ day reign, or would Kanji win her third PROGRESS Wrestling Women’s World Championship? Only one way to find out. Go watch this one now on TrillerTV+. You won’t be disappointed.

3. Macrae Martin vs. Zak Patterson from New Outlaws Wrestling “Christmas Hangover”

On Friday, December 26th, New Outlaws Wrestling held its big event live in Quebec, CA, “Christmas Hangover.” The event saw some fun action, with some of the top stars in French-speaking Canada. However, one of the top matches that stole the show saw Macrae Martin put his ISW King of Crazy Championship on the line against Zak Patterson. This was a match that came about sort of the last minute, as Patterson was originally supposed to square off with Jason Gray, and Macrae Martin was supposed to defend his title against Tyler Nox. However, when one door closes, another opens, and the match we got instead between Martin and Patterson saw both men put on a tremendous display. Martin is continuing to showcase his talents as a singles star, showing the whole world that, while we saw how good he was in Fresh Air, he’s certainly no one-trick pony. As for Patterson, he’s someone who doesn’t get talked about enough. He’s a tremendous talent in the ring. He looks amazing, and he has the skills and charisma to back it all up. He deserves to be booked all over. He’s had some tremendous wars in Limitless Wrestling in 2025, most notably with Conan Lycan, Aaron Rourke, and Alec Price. In 2026, we should see Patterson booked all over, as he more than deserves to be. Much of the same can be said about Martin. Not only as a tag team, but book Martin as a singles star too; he can more than hold his own with whoever you put in front of him. This match ruled, and both of these wrestlers are tremendous. Follow and support each of these competitors on their respective social media pages. The future is very bright for each of them. Go back and check this one out on the New Outlaws Wrestling VOD channel on IWTV.

2. Kaitlyn Marie vs. Bear Bronson from PWF’s “The 10th Annual Premier Tag League”

Coming in at number two on the list, we saw PWF hold its big annual event, “The 10th Annual Premier Tag League” on Sunday afternoon live from Newport, NC. Of all eight matches, there was only one that didn’t have to do with the Annual Premier Tag League tournament, and it saw Kaitlyn Marie put her PWF Undisputed Championship on the line against Bear Bronson. Marie is a two-time PWF Undisputed Champion, with her latest win of the championship coming back in October when she defeated Jon Davis and Kody Manhorn to start her current reign. She has since gone on to defeat Kidd Bandit. I’ve been high on Kaitlyn Marie since I first saw her a couple of years ago. She has the potential to do great things in this world. She’s very talented in the ring, and also can connect with the fans, whether you love or hate her, like very few wrestlers know how to nowadays. Now has a very tall task in front of her in the current IWTV Independent Wrestling World Champion, Bear Bronson. Bronson has been on a whole other level as of late, showing the world why he’s not the same wrestler we saw in AEW. Not even close. Bronson is one of the most talented wrestlers on the independent scene today and is showcasing why he can do it all. 2026 may be the year of Bronson. Go back and check this one out on IWTV as soon as you’re able. Trust me, it was worth it.

1. Man Like DeReiss vs. Robbie X from PROGRESS Wrestling’s “Chapter 188: Unboxing VIII- The Search For Socks”

Topping off this list, let’s go back to PROGRESS Wrestling, shall we? In the second-to-final match of the night, Man Like DeReiss made his way down to the ring. However, much like every other match on the card, fans had no clue who he was facing. This whole card was built on surprises, which made it one of the most fun shows of the year. There was no card announced going into it. So, the surprise wrestler he found himself standing across the ring with was the Bullet Club’s Robbie X. DeReiss has been the PROGRESS Wrestling Men’s World Champion since he defeated Luke Jacobs in a Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match at “100 Volts.” Since then, he’s picked up wins over the likes of Charles Mason, Bryan Keith, Darian Bengston, Tommy Billington, Charlie Sterling, Lio Rush, Tate Mayfairs, and more. So, would DeReiss continue his 120+ day reign against a very formidable opponent? For those who don’t know, Robbie X is one of the most talented wrestlers in the ring around today. The stuff he can do and pull off is second-to-none. This was ironically my first time seeing Robbie X live. I’ve seen highlights of his, but never actually watched a full match of his live before. However, he is as good as advertised. I highly recommend checking him out for those who don’t know much about him or the current state of the Bullet Club. As for DeReiss, he’s continuing to take over the independent wrestling scene across the pond. He’s another one of the most talented wrestlers they have, and this match was a perfect example of that. Go check out this match whenever you’re able to on TrillerTV+, and support and follow both of these men. You won’t be disappointed.
