On This Day in 2016: Chris Hero vs. Zack Sabre Jr. Review

How has it already been 10 years?!

On this day in 2016, Chris Hero and Zack Sabre Jr. fought at Limitless Wrestling’s third ever event “Under Fire” in Orono, Maine.

These two men have fought eachother before this, in promotions such as Evolve and PWG, and have even teamed together in Japan for Pro Wrestling NOAH. There’s some technical wrestling to kick off the contest. Once the opening stretch of technical wizardry ends, comes the strikes from Chris Hero. He controls the match once he gets an opening on Zack Sabre Jr.

Hero continues the attack on Sabre on the outside. He attempts a rolling elbow but Sabre moves and Hero’s elbow eats the ringpost. Sabre sees the target and works submissions on Hero’s now injured elbow. Hero tries to fight back with one arm, but this comes back to hurt Hero as he can’t hook Sabre’s legs during a pinfall.

Sabre counters the knockout elbow with a Fujiwara armbar. Sabre doesn’t just work Hero’s injured body part, but every part of Hero’s body. Hero comes back and spikes him with a piledriver. But Sabre comes out of nowhere with a bridging pin on Hero with his arms trapped. Sabre gets the victory in this 25 minute contest. A classic match-up and one of Limitless Wrestling’s best matches in the promotion’s history. ****
